Features : 8

I won't repeat the feature list. The higher frets are well reachable due to the cutouts. In my opinion it looks pretty good, and is good to play standing, although dispite the bodies length the neck pulls down slightly more than you would expect.

One of the biggest issues is perhaps the difficulty of getting a gig-bag for this piece, as it won't fit into most due to the great overall length. Most guitar stands also won't hold it properly, but fortunately you can lean it against the amp (Les Pauls are not well-suited to that :-).

Sound : 9
I mainly play rock and metal, for which it is very well-suited. For more bluesy or even clean sounds I prefer to use my Epiphone Les Paul, which has more sustain. I am playing with a Marshall TSL100, usually without any effects; with decent volume you can get sounds in the Metallica/Cradle of Filth style.

In my opinion the guitar is not noisy at all, but as I said it sounds slightly thinner than the Les Paul. With both humbuckers on it is a bit swampy, but with either of them it sounds good, giving either a nice aggressive tone or a decent mellow tone that can be well adjusted with the tone-knob.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar was setup pretty well when I bought it, although I would assume that the shop where I bought it may have done some final adjustments. As other reviewers mentioned there are some slight finish flaws, which you won't see from more than a meters distance, however.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The only issue I had till now (playing it for a year now as primary guitar) is that the tone knob got slightly loose (it didn't fall out, however); as I planned to have it serviced anyways this was fixed then. Other than that there were no issues, the strap buttons are far more solid than those of the Les Paul (which I had to fix both). The finish got some slight damage on the backside, which is likely from the trouser-buttons, but it is only very slight damage which I do not consider for rating.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never had any direct contact with Silvertone (or their reseller here), as I always contact the shop where I bought it, they have great customer service. So no rating here.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing guitar for 7 years. I have a few guitars, e.g. an Epiphone Les Paul, and play using a Marshall TSL100, currently without effects; I also own a ValveState combo and a Boss GT6.

I found the guitar by chance, as I was just trying out some guitars at my favorite shop; it cought my attention immediately due to the nice shape. I actually liked it after the first minutes playing, and would definitely buy one again. There were some other very nice guitars there in a broad price range, all of which had their virtues, but this one fit my style the most.

Paul Stanley Apocalypse Pro

Stanley designed radical agathis wood body,set neck,diamond position markers,duncan designed double humbuckers,black metallic/red poly finish.chrome plated hardware(tuneomatic style bridge/stop bar tailpiece,grover tuners,rosewood fetboard.

I found this guitar to sound surprisingly good!
Playing through a marshall cabinet really gives you that KISS sound.
Full punch and nice cutting bite on the leads.
Sustain only so-so,but enough to get by.(This is NOT a les paul!)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Ok,It IS a silvertone made in Indonesia,so don,t expect great detail.
This guitar looks awesome on stage, however closer inspection reveals the following: Sloppy paint drips near the top back of the headstock as well as bottom right leg, feathery overspray where the red and black paint meet, poor quality chrome plating on all hardware, selector switch is cheap feeling(can you say...epiphone?)
Guitar had poor intonation overall, but a change of strings and a professional set up(45.00)cured this problem.Neck action very nice!!

Reliability/Durability : 7
This guitar should hold up pretty well(I would keep a back-up on hand when playing out though).
I would definitly replace the tuners and selector swich.
This guitar chips and dents VERY easily.
The finish is somewhat on the dull side.
I installed strap locks on mine and also added chrome plated pickup frames and white binding(painted) and it really improves the look!

This guitar should come from the factory the way i have mine decked out.(Silvertone are you listening?).
If this axe was stolen i would buy it again.
Better quality hardware should come on this guitar along with better paint job(i'd pay a little more if they did).
Overall i really don,t regret getting this guitar,I believe It makes a nice addition to a collection.

I won't go through all the features as everyone else has already been there.
Instead I'll move right into the enxt catagories, where hte important stuff is.

Sound : 5
I am not really a warlock / Flying V type player, so this guitar is not the norm for me, however I started on guitar all those years ago due totally to Kiss Influence, and I always wanted an Iceman or similar. But the Neck pick-up sounds quite nice, and surprisingly, even though the guitar is very large it is extremely light, and can be played all night long without any discomfort..
I have been using it through my Johnson Mirage 50 (Modelling amp) and Roland Bolt 100 (Valve) and also my Roland 408 (Tranny).
the guitar is quiet enough, no more buzz than any of my other guitars.
I expected this sort of design yield great Les Paul type tones, with the neck through design and twin Humbuckers... And while the Bridge position humbucker is quite nice sounding. The Neck pick-up sucks badly.
If like me you enjoy the fat Smooth types of sounds like (Intro) Sweet Child O Mine (Gunners), (Intro) Still Got The Blues Gary Moore, and most of Smooth (Santana), then this guitar is going to dissapoint badly. Playing individual notes on the Solo channel anywhere past the 8th fret (On D and G strings especially) I noticed the mid frequencies just get zapped completely out of the sound. The Neck pick-up just sucks the guts out of these notes, and the further up those strings you go the worse this problem becomes.
The amps I am using were not set any different to how I use them with my other guitars, but the sounds I got from this pick-up selection / amp channel really do sound horrible.
The Bridge Pick-up is very usable.
Clean sounds on both pick-ups are ok, nothing incredible, but usable.
For a basic straight rock guitar it is ok, but not even close to the league of a Les Paul or PRS type instrument, but it is cheap and getting a PS model guitar that is actually affordable to 95% of us is a good thing.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
The set up was ok. I am very picky though so I spent about 2 hours playing around with it, setting harmonics (Intonation), action, and playing around with Humbucker heights trying to coax a decent sound from the Neck position to no avail.
The finish from playing height looks ok, and from a distance (Like the audience are at) looks great. But on closer inspection you can see Paint bleed. The red is painted over the Gunmetal Black / Grey, and in places there is visible bubbling type effect, if you really look. The sharper edges of the red are a little feathery looking.
Controls seem ok, but only extended time will tell and the other hardware seems ok.

Reliability/Durability : 5
Personally without changing the Neck Pick-up I would not use this as a main instrument live. While the hardware / strap buttons etc... may well hold up, the tones (Or lack there of) would just drive me insane. It is definately not the most versatile guitar in my collection.
Without a back-up? No way in hell!

I've never dealt with Silvertone who I believe are owned or made by Samick these days.
Samick are huge and apparently have great support, but I won;t rate this catagory as I have no personal experience with them on that level.
I bought it new, but second hand... I'll try to explain that. The guy I bought it off is an importer but not a licenced dealer, so he bought it in and I bought it off him, not from a shop, but it was still new... The retail over here is $900 so I got it cheap enough.

Overall Rating : 5
I've been playing for about 25 years. My collection of guitars and amps is extensive, I mostly use classic styles like Strats / Teles and Les Pauls and 335 type instruments.
I wish I had the chance to try one out before buying it, but no-one here is stocking them, so I just went on the reviews here, not my wisest decision.
I would not buy another one. I have ordered a Sovereign Pro, and really expect to have to change the Neck pick-up in that also, but the Sovereign is a more Classic styled instrument, so I am more likely to be happier with that instrument visually and therefore be prepared to spend the money upgrading the pick-up.
In Australia these instruments are still rare. You can get the Bolt on Special version easily enough but not the set neck, and trying to get a case for these guitars over here is impossible. The normal importer does not even have them in stock, and the shops can't get them. I had to order mine from the US.
The only thing I love about it is the fact it has the Paul Stanley / Kiss connection. Other than that it is a very average instrument. I guess it is cheap so I can't ask for a whole lot of quality, but I would be very surprised if Paul Stanley actually uses this instrument with the neck Pick-up as they come standard.
I know this review will piss a lot of Kiss Fans off, and I personally am a diehard Kiss Fanatic, but this guitar is really not up to scratch. It may look cool (If you like those Warlock type instruments) and it's weight is fantastic, but the sounds are a major let-down. And the lack of back-up as far as getting a case over here is definately not a good thing.
I played it side by side with several of my other guitars, and my students all wanted to play it, so it got a lot of use over the last few weeks, side by side with my guitars and their guitars, through my 3 amps I have here and a mates Blackface.
Guitars compared with Deluxe 945 (335 copy), Les Paul (Early 70s), Strats (Various), Vantage neck through Sleek Strat with Floyd and Paf, Fenix Tele, Fenix Soloist.
If you like the sorts of Middy Neck pick-up tones I mentioned above and still want this guitar, be prepared to change the pick-up. Make sure you get a case with it, coz it is very large in size, and standard cases won't fit.
They are cheap enough but in this case I feel they were built down to a price not up to a standard.
Very average!
