Regular features for an acoustic guitar I think the previous reviews covers the materials used in this guitar

Sound : 8
the sound is excellent for a laminate guitar very even without the glassy high end most other laminates have. Best value for price vs sound. But in my opinion my guitar was a little dull and did not project as well as the all wood counterpart. I thought that was ok but when I changed the saddle to a tusq compensated from the stock plastic saddle the sound opened up so much that I'm thinking about changing the plastic nut to tusq. The change is worth it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
the finish on this guitar is beautiful and the looks are a knockout.
The only slight problem on my guitar is the snowflake inlay is not quite staight up and down. I don't know if that was in design or a flaw? also the fret wires were sharp on the ends but after I little file job they felt great. over all these are small issues for this price guitar but with a little work it can be a better

Reliability/Durability : 10
Built as well as any acoustic guitar. has a one piece neck rare in this price range. It is a little lighter in weight then most acoustics. Maybe a thin laminate vibrates better!

Over all this guitar shines as one of the best unknown guitars on the market. Where I live there are tons of guitar stores but not one carries this guitar. Also the samic d5 is basicly the same guitar but you don't see any samic guitars in this area either. The laminates that the dealers carry might have a more well known name but DO NOT SOUND CLOSE TO THIS GUITAR and can cost 2 to 3x more

This guitar is brand new not sure what year, made in Indonesia where they build much better guitars than their Chinese counterparts. It has 20 nickel frets which are very smooth and consistant. The SD50 features a Solid Sitka Spruce top whose tone will sweeten with age. With wine red mahogany back and sides with back inlay and full binding on the body and neck, gives the guitar a beautiful finish, outstanding tone and projection. The rosewood fingerboard features classic snowflake inlays up to the 17th fret. The gold Grover sealed tuning machines allow for easy tuning helping the guitar to keep its pitch even with heavy strumming. The D'Addario strings make the guitar sing right out of the box. Other accessories included: A padded guitar gigbag(omitted from my kit), digital electronic tuner, instructional DVD packed with lessons, adjustable guitar strap, picks and an extra set of strings.

Sound : 10
I have been playing for over 30 years and found this guitar to fit the style of music I play. I play classic rock and found this guitar to fit the bill. From Zeppelins "Over the Hills And Far Away" to Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here", every note sounds bright, crisp and clear. I was pleasantly surprised by the projection and brightness of this guitar. The D'Addario strings that they put on initially were a huge improvement over stock factory strings usually put on guitars at the factory. They even went through the trouble of wrapping the strings in brown paper on the guitar to prevent oxidization. An attention to detail which helped the guitar to sound play like a dream right out of the box. This is going to be my main guitar I play every day now taking the place of my Washburn D100.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The factory setup was excellent allowing for outstanding playability initially. The string action was set low on the neck as well as the bridge being set at a comfortable level too. If anything the action may have been set a little too low and flat making the neck somewhat convex on the high E string side but nothing to get in a twist over. The saddle nut and bridge were placed/glued perfectly. I tested the harmonics on the 3rd, 5th and 12th frets finding them to be right on. The bookmatching was a perfect clean line, the bindings were crisp and clean, the ornimentation, inlays and other treatments were all perfect with no flaws. The saddle pegs were all affixed flush and even. The tuning pegs and machines were fit perfectly with no flaws.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I believe this guitar would stand the test of time as well as being played on a daily basis. The hardware is grover which is a trusted name in guitar hardware. The finish is high gloss and appears to have several cotes to ensure durability. The single strap button is affixed perfectly on the back side of the guitar. I plan on depending on this guitar every day for me til another one catches my fancy. I would use this guitar on a gig without any worries of failure.

The gig bag was missing, don't know if I can still get one, I'll let you know how that goes.

I have been playing over 30 years and have owned several acoustic guitars. I currently own 3 of them. I had already seen a student playing this guitar so I was already impressed with how the guitar looked and sounded. If this guitar was stolen or lost, I would buy another one like it because I love it! I love the sound, playability and the looks of this guitar, It was just a great value, an epiphany from Sears. I actually chose this guitar off the Sears website because I could put it on my Sears Card! I wish that I would have gotten the gig bag with it, but maybe they will send me one.

I bought this guitar at a close out for about $75 bucks new. For the price, this axe is impressive. Bound body and fretboard, gold tuners and nice looking too! The finish is smooth and although there are a few ripples in it I am very happy with the overall quality

Sound : 8
Change the strings, set it up right or get a pro to do it and you will have a very crisp bright sound without the tinny effect.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
No major flaws as far as I could see, but like I said before, get it set up right with the right strings

Reliability/Durability : 10
I don't use this to play out much, but I have no worries about it. Solid guitar. It has fallen off the stand a few times (my cats) no real damage.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had the need to get it repaired

I've been playing since 1966 starting on an old Gretsch New Yorker and a single cutaway Silvertone, so it kinda brings back good memories. Currently have a Mexy strat I upgraded with vintage Gold hardware and Texas pickups, and a '68 Guild F-112. All my equipment was stolen about 13 years ago and I am slowly replacing a lot of it, and if this one was stolen I would replace it in a heartbeat.

This is a great guitart that I picked up as a cheap guitar that I didn't need but couldn't resist for the price. I have 2 samick acoustic electrics and this appears to be the same maker and family with the same look and a lower price. Nice solid sitka spruce and nice gold grover tuners. Considering the price this guitar is a 10

Sound : 10
It has a great sound...again especially for the price. I have a few guitars including a couple samics and fender acoustics and this is everbit as nice as my others. It is actually nicer then a couple guitars I paid a lot more for.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Again, for such a bargin the action is great and the setup by the factory and even the original strings appear to be extra-light. I usually play with martin extralights.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Stays in tune well and appears a solid instrument. It has withstood the seasonal changes of being on my deck with no complaints.

Unsure

I have about 1 true acoustic and 5 acoustic electrics. I also have 1 les paul electric and 0ne classical acoustic electric. I've been playing a couple years for fun and I am still a beginner to intermediate.

This guitar is probably the best bargin of all my acoustic style guitars. I would by it again in a pinch. I like my fender DG14SCE the most of all my guitars but it was about $250.

Made in Indonesia by Samick. Pretty much the same guitar as the Samick D5, but slightly fancier-looking. Solid bookmatched sitka spruce top, gold Grover tuners, laminated mahogany back and sides with a nice red stain, nice inlay down the center of the back, bound rosewood fretboard with snowflake inlays, rosewood bridge with compensated saddle, abalone-looking rosette (it's not real abalone, but it still looks very nice).

Sound : 8
Surprisingly rich and full-sounding for the price. Taking the price into account, I'd give it a 10+. Very well balanced. Solid bass, but not too boomy. Bright top end, without being too bright or clangy. Solid midrange. Suits my playing style better than just about any guitar I've ever owned, with the exception of my 1994 Gibson Gospel, which I regret selling.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This was the real surprise. Though I got it mail-order, the playability is better than any guitar I've ever owned (which includes Martin, Gibson, Taylor, Yamaha, and Seagull). I bought it at a discount as a 'scratch-n-dent' special, but after 5 months, I still can't find the slightest flaw. The top is nicely bookmatched, and the setup is exceptional. There are absolutely no buzzing frets or dead spots, and the tone is balanced all the way up the fretboard.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The gold Grovers are quite a surprise at this price point; they tune up smoothly and flawlessly, and they should hold up very well. It seems to be very well built; I often slap it purcussively when I play, and the top seems very sturdy. The finish is thick and plasticky (perhaps a bit too thick), but it looks very nice, and is applied very evenly, with no flaws that I can find. I'm sure I can depend on this thing for many years to come.

Never dealt with Silvertone or Samick, so I can't comment on this.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 27 years and this is my 14th acoustic guitar, including 3 twelve-strings, and my 20th guitar overall. I also own a 1982 Fender '62RI Stratocaster, a 2002 Seagull Anniversary Spruce, a 2005 Martin LX1 and I am now looking to buy a twelve-string.

If this guitar were lost or stolen, I'd probably buy another one. I originally purchased it as a 'beater', but it is so good that I use it as my main acoustic. The regular price is $150, but I got it for $110 as a scratch-n-dent; however, I can't find anything wrong with it. I'd have to spend a lot more than I want to for a guitar that is significantly better than this to replace it as my main. The most I ever spent on a guitar was $2400 on a 1997 Taylor 710 Brazilian (which I no longer own). It is no exaggeration at all to say thast I like this guitar better. The only acoustic I have ever owned that can rival or beat this one is my now departed (regretfully) 1994 Gibson Gospel, for which I paid $678 in 1995.

This is an inexpensive dreadnaught, yet has a Sitka spruce top, lovely rosewood back and sides with inlay, full binding, gold grover tuners, mother of perl soundhole decoration. Very attractive without looking cheesy, holds its tune well, playable neck, very nice sound.

Sound : 8
Very rich sound. I don't know how it compares against a Martin but there is no comparison against the lame laminated-top guitars normally found in this price range. The sound is well-balanced, not too boomy on the low end nor too harsh on the top, just smooth and full with a bit of sparkle.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Well constructed, nothing ever came loose, good action and neck. However, the first one I got had a strangely flawed wood pattern on the top and a curved neck, though tightening the truss rod may or may not have fixed it. The second one had a lovely top and nearly straight neck. The rating is for the second one, be sure you can return it or better yet open the box in the shop before buying.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Seems pretty solid. After a few months I had to tighten the truss rod a bit since the string height had increased a bit. I think it might do with filing the saddle down, but that's a matter of taste.

I bought this guitar in desperation because I needed something while on vacation and there were no proper music stores to be found. I'm amazed at the appearance considering the price range, though personally I'd be just as happy if it was black all around. The main thing is that it sounds great and is well built and playable. No complaints.
