Well, I have to agree with the first guy on this and disagree with the two other guys on this axe. I bought it at a store where you would never expect to find a guitar and damn was it a good find. It's a strat copy with a vintage sunburst finish. The pickups are stock single coils. It has one master volume and two tones like a strat. The pickguard is a little diffrent from other strats though. It does not extend all the way to the end of the 1st string side horn but I think this makes the guitar look better. It has a standard fulcrum tremelo and I think it has a mahogany body. It has a rosewood neck and a rosewood fingerboard. It has passive electronics. The tuners on it are cheap (plastic) but they are very tight so they do not slip out of tune. It came in a kit with a small 10 watt practice amp, a video, strap which the ends are all warped and I can basically stick my thumb through the holes, bag which the handles fell off of after a while :), and some picks and an extra set of strings. O yeah it also came with a quik-tune tuner. I don't know why but the tuner that it came with was an acoustic guitar tuner.

Well, I play everything with this guitar from blues to death metal. It gives me the sound I need for every style. I use it on a Fender M-80 Chorus amp and a Fender Princeton 112 Plus amp. I still use the practice amp it cane with in my room too. For effects, I use the chorus on my M-80 which sounds really nice with this guitar and a Zoom 505 effects processor and also a DOD FX-40 7 band equalizer pedal for getting that unique sound. I'm disagreeing with everyone. The pickups do not hum at all. Even with the highest distortions and the highest volumes. The pickups are great and do not feed back unless I want them to. The guitar is great for playing all types of music, especially blues and rock. I love every sound that comes out of this guitar.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The guitar was extremely well set up. When I got this guitar the strings were set at the perfect height and I have never adjusted them after having this guitar for two years. The pickups were well adjusted too. Not high not low. I have never adjusted these either. The guitar is finished in a beautiful vintage sunburst which hasn't even started to wear. I play at every gig with this guitar and my Washburn BT-2 and it has never failed me or anything. I will never be emberassed to play it at a gig even though it is supposed to be a cheap student guitar and I don't think I will ever get rid of it. The guitar had absolutely no flaws when I got it and I have never come across any. The hardware is in perfect condition too. No rust or anything. It "feels" better than any guitar I have ever played and I've played on Gibsons and Gretschs and B.C. Rich and Washburn and a lot of others. The pickup selector is still working perfectly and nothing has ever gone wrong with it. The neck is really easy to play on, a little stiff at one point but I fixed that with some fast fret. The only thing that has ever come loose was the bottom strap button and the jack. I tighten these every now and then to prevent a disaster.

I have played at every gig with this guitar and my Washburn. For a 200 dollar guitar this is a tank. I beat the crap out of this guitar and it is still in near- perfect condition. I even threw it at a gig once. Came out with one scratch but no dents. There are only a few small nicks in it but what do you expect from thrashing and gigging and the road and practice? The finish has not worn at all yet. The harware is superb but the tuners are a little cheap though. The strap buttons are pretty solid but they should be a little wider and stronger because it did fall on me once. But again, it came out with no nick or anything. I depend on this axe constantly but my Washburn is my main axe. I use the two just as often though. I have another axe, a Jackson which I cannot stand. I could use this at a gig without a backup but I break a lot of strings and I don't have the time or patience to change them so I always bring atleast one extra axe.

Never dealt with them. Never will have to. Last I heard Silvertone went out of business in the sixties or seventies so there is no one I can bring it to. But I don't understand how I came across a brand new Silvertone in 1997. I do all work and modifications on it myself anyways. If I ever have a serious problem, which I probably never will, I know who to bring it to anyways.

I have been playing for 2 years and this was my first axe. I own a Washburn BT-2 and a Jackson JS-20 besides this one. I like the sound of this one the most. If it were stolen or lost, I'd scrounge around for another one. I love everything about it. I don't hate anything about it. I wish it had some grover tuners though. But these tuners never fall out of tune. I just wanna say I love this guitar and I will never get rid of it. Everything about it is perfect. This guitar is one of those rare extremely well built guitars for a cheap reasonable price. If you ever come across one, GET IT. Whether your a student or pro, it's a great backup axe and it makes a great main axe.

It was made in about '97, 21 frets, three noisy single-coil pickups, 5 -way selector, vintage style Strat tremolo, horrible tuners. Came with 10 watt (I think) practice amp, cheap cable, 5 picks, etc.

I play all different styles, from country, to death-metal, to reggae, and this guitar can come somewhat close to what you'll need, but I strongly suggest replacing the pickups. The stock single-coils are VERY noisy. Don't touch the tremelo, as the guitar will drop WAY out of tune. I also recommend putting AT LEAST one more tremolo spring in it if you want to use the whammy bar. I used this guitar through a ProCo RAT, Ibanez SlamPunk, a Morley NSW switchless wah, and a DOD FX64 Icebox Chorus, to the practice amp, into an old GE receiver.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action was pretty well set from the factory, but I set it REALLY high after I first changed the strings on it. The pickups were at a decent height, but I adjusted them dramatically as well. The high "E" tuner rattles whenever a string isn't on it, the bridge is rusting, the finish is flaking off in fingernail sized chips, and the nut broke in three pieces.

This guitar slowly went to crap before my eyes. After a little under 2 years, the finish is chipping off by the bottom strap button, the bridge is rusting, and the nut is broken in three. The strap buttons are surprisingly solid. This guitar lasted for about an hour in a "gig" situation, before it was almost un-tunable. I don't gig without a backup, as this guitar is now backing up my Epiphone SG.

I've never dealt with the C.S., and I don't think I'm going to waste my time dealing with them. I've probably modified it too much and voided the warranty anyway.

One of the worst strat copies i've played. Low quality. Nut snaped after about a month. 3 single coils. Sunburst finish. Cheap rosewood fingerboard. Came w/a a small amp, gig bag, and just about everything else a beginner needs.

I play almost everything from metal to ska. Can't get any of it outta this on. The pickups are REALLY noisy and muddy sounding. Tons of feedback w/the gain and volume up. It's ok for a first guitar though.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Action was a little high, I had to lower it a bit. Pickups had to be adjusted. Wood quality is very poor. I hate the saddles.

No way you could play live w/this thing. Hardware is cheap. Strap Buttons slip like hell. A really unrelible ax.

I've been laying for almost 4 years now. This was my first guitar. Wasn't bad to learn on, but soon after i needed something else to get the tone i want. A feder squire strat pack would be a much better choice than this one.

i cant tell what year it was made, i bought it from a whole sale store that sells food in bulk. i saw it, and i loved it. the box looked really old and aged and the when i opened it, it smelled funny. 22 frets, laminated top i think, sunburst finish. 2 tone, 1 volume, 5-way selector, and threee single coil pickups, so it really gets great sound, especially the bridge pickup, way better then all the fenders i heard.mahogony body with rosewood neck. looks alot like the strats but id say the body is a bit longer, giving more strumming space and its a lot thinner then the fenders, which i love, cause i always hated the blockyness and thikness of the fenders. string through body with unlisted tuners, they seem to only stay in tune when your really racking it out though, like if im sitting strumming "sitting on the dock of the bay", once im done, itll fall outa tune(which is wierd to say the least) but when im hashing it out with the band (i play in a punk band called NO PRIDE) its great. normal freats, not jumbo or small, normal. and it came with a gig bag, strap, cable, silvertone amp and truss rod adjustment tools.

i play alot of punk and grunge and its great. i usually play through this gargantuiam messag/boogie my drummer owns and all i use is a minimum of bass with the treble and middle all the way up throught the bridge pickup, always. it gets a bit hummy on the bottom pickup, a bit too hummy if you ask me, butwhen played with the middle as well, its quiet as could be, i think its the silvertone amp tough, it only happens through that amp. great sound, were a a fun band, fast chords, loud sound, and it holds it every step of the way. it gets deep deep sounds (believe me) to really high jazzy sounds (this is a strat style remember). i really love my silvertone, it was my first guitar, my dad really wanted me to get a more expensive guitar, but i stuck with my silvertone, its a really great guitar to play with. the only thing i would say i dislike is the pickguard is a bit big, like the pickup slots were cut a little too big, but i just took it off and slipped some appoxy and some rubber under the thing, its stuck like ....a....big stuckky thingy. the loosness didnt bother me, but i was worried that when picking, i might, hit it and have the pick slide down in it, i woder if it would fit, i dont think the hole was big enought though, but im the worry rock for you.

only thing was the pick guard cut. little too big cut for the bridge pickup. really great guitar though, i cannot stress that enought people. what i absolutly love about it is that it looks old and roughed a bit. and have dropped it and dropped things on it, like a guitar stand, and it has got 2 or 3 nicks and dings, but thats whats great, it took the shots good, and i really love the beat up, old look, im thinking about setting it on fire.

it will and has withstood live playing, it was wonderful. the hardware is great except maybe the tuners, they are sturdy but i think its just the metal is a bit soft, like it could get a dint it in if something hit the tuners hard enough. the finish is good, concidering i think the thing is old, it looks a bit worn from age, but when polished the thing will shine like nothing else ive ever seen, maybe something extra is there.the stap buttons are very solid, except on my old straps, it would tear the leather, so now i have one that just slips over the peg and locks. since its the only guitar i bring with me on gigs, yes, i would use it with out a backup, the holds the strings great, ive never had one pop. i always had to change thems cause i wore the strings down and it wouldnt stay in tune causet they were beat.

ive been playing for 2 years and i own one other electric. if it were stolen i would scour around for one of these, i never saw them again, and the only other place was from a store that had its site on the internet. i love the vintage feel, old looks, great sound, and playability. i learned to play guitar with this very guitar and i played my first gig with it, its great. when i compared it to my drummers fender strat, i found, it was too thik, as where mine is think and got a lot better sound, hes fender sounded a bit twangy, even through a distortion pedel. this silvertone flows great, music just pours from it, you just cant stop playing, i will write and write and write with it. SILVERTONE ROCKS, PUNKS NOT DEAD, NO PRIDE.
