22 frets, maple fretboard, SUPER light- too light: the body literally hums when you play hence no decent sound or distortion.

I never even plugged it in. I repacked it for return after a while trying to set it up with no success. I work on guitars, toured UK and Europe as a tech back in the day, and it truly is a lost cause- and I can usually get anything to play.

Way high out of the box and even between lowering it and tweaking the neck it just became futile. The nut grooves are too high and the frets are cheap although the neck was fairly flat without any detrimental warping. The ONLY good thing about the guitar- but it still can't be set up for fast action or a comfortable feel.

I'm guessing it will slowly virate itself apart. Cheapest materials I've seen in a long time: must be plywood like an old Kramer I once aquired for free and the hardware is pretty bad. They must be buying the ultimate cheapest components for resale profit- no exaggeration either.

I've been playing 28 years plus. Done the band thing, etc.,... I basically only got it because I have a credit account with an online retailer and I needed to replace an axe I lost and it was the best thing they offered. As I'm a Les Paul man I would rather go with Epiphone if I could even afford that right now. This thing is pretty bad. I can't even see it as a begginer- it's such a labor to play all someone new is going to do is get frustrated and think guitar is just too hard!! Spencer strat copies are actually worth every cent and they're cheap, so look at those first. (See my review!!)

This guitar was bought for me in 2005, my first electric, came with very crappy strings, 20 watt amp, a cheap gig bag, cheap tuner and the most low quality picks ive ever come across, once I changed the strings to some super slinky ernie balls I was good to go, i like the neck and fret spacing, and it is really easy to play, 5 way slector is nice, but the tuners are cheap, but im not going to replace them till they break.

I play lots of metal and all genres of rock and it does an alright job, but putting it through the right pedals and amp help. Whammy is cheap and I never use it, the tone nobs dont do anything but for the price the sound is pretty good.

out of the box it was in rough shape, half the bolts were lose and the action was quite off as well as the bridge springs, pickups were just willy nilly. But a tool box and 10 minutes fixed that up, since i put new strings on it and purchased a new amp it has held up nice.

Not very dependable the strap button pulled right out of the a*s end of the guitar, a bigger screw fixed that problem. If that had of happened on stage while I was jumping around it could have been diastrous.

Been playing about a year, progressing really fast, I own a metalzone pedal and a Peavy amp. If this guitar was stolen i would buy another budget guitar probably a silvertone, because i hate blowing lots of money on stuff. i love the price and the playability, i hate the low quality hardware and headstack shape and look, my favourite feature is the neck and body design. Good guitar for beginners but remember buy cheap buy twice

Made in 2005 in china, 22 frets with a solid top. 1 vol and 2 tone controls with a 5 way selector. sss pickups, solid maple body, neck and fingerboard.came with a black finish, however, i have apinted mine foam green and modified the cheesy looking headstock. has a strat type body, non-locking tuners and a thin neck. Came with amp, bag, tuner.

I play alot of progressive rock like floyd and the dead, also california style rock. sound good to me when i play that stuff, especially vintage floyd tunes. I got alot of feedback and humming from the pickups before i out foil tape inside, since then it has sounded nice and clean. Very bright sound mainlt attributed to the all maple body. A good strat copy for begginers.

Special features are warped pickguard and dark spots from fire. otherwise it is a standard strat copy with a mahogany neck.

Amazingly nice blues sound from pickups -especially the neck pick up. Sound is like vintage fenders - much more intersting than a standard Fender Strat or a Squire. Sounds real nice through a tube amp - sometimes noisy because of the cheap selector switch which really should be replaced. Truly the pickups are the stars here if you care about "strat" sound.

Action and set up seem OK, even after what it has been through. I suppose the person who burned it and threw it in the trash may have had it professionaly set up first... :-)

Well it survived someone trying to burn it up and then thowing it away (left on the steet for trash pickup) The switches and knobs are really cheap ( but easily replaced...) the rest seems good. Someone mentioned string breaking - I think the nut is set up for really light strings - could use slot filing if you use bigger ones. One string makes the cah-chink noise when tuning because it sticks in the nut groove.

I haven't played a lot of strat copies so maybe there are other bargains out there, but this is an amazing sounding and playing guitar for under $200 dollars. I own a very expensive vintage strat and have played a nice recent mexican made strat - this one sounds much more like the vintage strat! I think Fender degrades their low end strats so they don't sound as good as the high end strats. These companies making copies just wind their pickups like the 10,000 strats they are copying. We can replace the cheap switchs and knobs, take it easy on the neck and have bargain killer-sounding strats.

I bought a silvertone SS-10 strat copy in the summer of 98. It was made in Indonesia. The guitar has 21-22 frets. It has 1 volume and 2 tone cheap plastic equip. and a cheap 5 way selector. It has 3 generic single coil pickups. I think it is a plywood strat body, with a 3 coler sunburst top. It also has a cheap trem. It also has strat style (6 in a row) non locking tuners. Its neck is preety comfertable with nice sized frets. It came with a cheap gig bag, small (but good) amp, cheap cables, some cheap strings, and some picks that bleed there color.
Sound
:

It has preety nice sound though the pickups give a lot of feedback. I still use the silvertone amp it came with. It goes from blues to rock easaly though.

The guitar in my opinion was set up very poorly. The neck was bent when I got it, most of the gear on it is now breaking down, the switch (5 way) is breaking down, and the cable and strap it came with broke like a week after I got it. Also the trem breaks my top e string alot.

It has been through many moves and put in 150 degree cars. I have put in about 200 dolars of work into it. The finishh still is preety nice (with a few scratches). I would definatly not dependon it as a main guitar. It has lasted long though. It is good for the 100 bucks I origionaly paid though.

Bought new in 2000, so I'm guessing that's when it was made. Rosewood neck, body is made from plywood (I'm going to be putting a new "real" wood body on it). Three single coil pickups, 5-way selector switch, standard strat features. Very comfortable to play and lightweight. It came with a 10W practice amp, cheapo gig bag, really cheapo cable, and some extra strings.
Sound
:

Sounds good, but the pickups are pretty noisy. I'm going to put one or two new pickups in it shortly to get around that problem. I'm going to keep one of the original pickups because I do like the tone for some blues. I run it through an Ibanez TS-7 Tube Screamer to a 59 Fender Bassman.

I raised the action, put some 13 guage strings on, put two more tremolo springs on (needed after the new strings raise the bridge). It was set up fine for a newbie, but I've made a few mods.

I have not had any problems with this guitar at all. I get pretty rough with it at times and it's help up. The finish has started to raise away from the body, but I don't care much about that. The only problem is one of the tone knobs sort of rattles and moves around. Stays in tune after hours of playing.

My wife found this guitar at a pawn shop and saw the word "Silvertone" and bought it. She knew I was a Silvertone collector and thought it might make a nice Christmas present. When I opened it and found out that she only paid $100 I was surprised. At first glance it was fairly solidly built so I figured the real truth would come out whenI plugged it in...WRONG. It played so much better than a $100 guitar has any right to that I was proud of my wife for making such a good purchase. After my initial excitement I gave it a good once over and found something I did not like. CHEAP TUNERS. They had to be replaced but following that operation the guitar was good enough for me.

I play blues alot so the noisy pickups are just dandy with me. I send this guitar through an overdrive pedal and a wah pedal and get all the noise I want from it. I've also tried to do some metal and some clean country style stuff but it just does not fit. I guess this guitar was born for the blues.

The action was perfect from the factory. I immediatley took off the crap strings and put on some medium gauge elixers and was able to do so with no adjustments. The guitar had a decent looking sunburst finish...this finish shows some wear now but it has more character now.

I have beaten the piss out of this guitar. It has been abused, banged, smashed, and whooped and still has plenty of life. After I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan beat the crap out of his old Strat on Live at the El Mocambom I figured that my old pawn shop guitar could use a little of SRV's magic so I'm not especially careful with it.

I bought the guitar in '97. 21 frets, master volume, 2 tone pots, 5 way pickup selector switch. 3 single coil pickups. Passive electronics. Sunburst finish. Floyd Rose style tremelo bridge. Cheap plastic tuners. Came with practice amp, picks, very cheap gig bag(if it's worthy of being called a gig bag), a cord that went dead, a strap that's too small and some other stuff, i think.
Sound
:

This was my first guitar. I started out playing a bunch of punk rawk, but now i play a lot of different stuff. I think most any guitar can do punk rawk. I like it for fast stuff. I initially used it with just a DS-1, but then got a Zoom 505. It sounds a lot better with the Zoom. It's got a bright sound, too thin i think and little sustain. It can make a good variety of sounds though. I like it for playing fast stuff and stuff that doesn't require much sustain.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The guitar was set up pretty good. I thought the action was a little high at first, but i've learned to kinda like that. I don't know much about adjusting pickups and stuff so i just left 'em alone. The pickups are pretty noisy and about a year or so afteri got it it started not playing when i put it to the bridge pick-up. I have to mess around with it a little. The pickups, pickguard screws, and selector switch have been rusting for a year or so(i don't think that's good.) Other than that, i like it's looks. I don't like the cheap plastic tuners too much. I can't seem to ever get it perfectly in tune. If a string's in tune open, then it's out when it's fretted. Also, the 13th fret high E string F doesn't play b/c the fret is too low or high or something, so that's annoying.
Reliability/Durability

Well, i've played live a couple times with this guitar and other than breaking a string and going out of tune, it's done fine. No, the rusting hardware doesn't seem like it will last too long. The bridge is still seeming pretty good though. The finish seems like it will last. The only place i've gone through the finish is where a music stand was dropped on it. Strap buttons are nice and solid. I would depend on it and i have gigged without a back up b/c i didn't have a back up.

If it was stolen or lost, i don't think i'd be able to find it again, but i'd probably get another cheap guitar. I hate how it doesn't get in tune or stay in tune. I only compared this guitar to others in price and it was the cheapest i found b/c it came w/an amp and stuff. I wish it had better tuners and maybe some new pick-ups. It's a nice guitar for the price though.

Well, I have to agree with the first guy on this and disagree with the two other guys on this axe. I bought it at a store where you would never expect to find a guitar and damn was it a good find. It's a strat copy with a vintage sunburst finish. The pickups are stock single coils. It has one master volume and two tones like a strat. The pickguard is a little diffrent from other strats though. It does not extend all the way to the end of the 1st string side horn but I think this makes the guitar look better. It has a standard fulcrum tremelo and I think it has a mahogany body. It has a rosewood neck and a rosewood fingerboard. It has passive electronics. The tuners on it are cheap (plastic) but they are very tight so they do not slip out of tune. It came in a kit with a small 10 watt practice amp, a video, strap which the ends are all warped and I can basically stick my thumb through the holes, bag which the handles fell off of after a while :), and some picks and an extra set of strings. O yeah it also came with a quik-tune tuner. I don't know why but the tuner that it came with was an acoustic guitar tuner.
Sound

Well, I play everything with this guitar from blues to death metal. It gives me the sound I need for every style. I use it on a Fender M-80 Chorus amp and a Fender Princeton 112 Plus amp. I still use the practice amp it cane with in my room too. For effects, I use the chorus on my M-80 which sounds really nice with this guitar and a Zoom 505 effects processor and also a DOD FX-40 7 band equalizer pedal for getting that unique sound. I'm disagreeing with everyone. The pickups do not hum at all. Even with the highest distortions and the highest volumes. The pickups are great and do not feed back unless I want them to. The guitar is great for playing all types of music, especially blues and rock. I love every sound that comes out of this guitar.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

The guitar was extremely well set up. When I got this guitar the strings were set at the perfect height and I have never adjusted them after having this guitar for two years. The pickups were well adjusted too. Not high not low. I have never adjusted these either. The guitar is finished in a beautiful vintage sunburst which hasn't even started to wear. I play at every gig with this guitar and my Washburn BT-2 and it has never failed me or anything. I will never be emberassed to play it at a gig even though it is supposed to be a cheap student guitar and I don't think I will ever get rid of it. The guitar had absolutely no flaws when I got it and I have never come across any. The hardware is in perfect condition too. No rust or anything. It "feels" better than any guitar I have ever played and I've played on Gibsons and Gretschs and B.C. Rich and Washburn and a lot of others. The pickup selector is still working perfectly and nothing has ever gone wrong with it. The neck is really easy to play on, a little stiff at one point but I fixed that with some fast fret. The only thing that has ever come loose was the bottom strap button and the jack. I tighten these every now and then to prevent a disaster.
Reliability/Durability

I have played at every gig with this guitar and my Washburn. For a 200 dollar guitar this is a tank. I beat the crap out of this guitar and it is still in near- perfect condition. I even threw it at a gig once. Came out with one scratch but no dents. There are only a few small nicks in it but what do you expect from thrashing and gigging and the road and practice? The finish has not worn at all yet. The harware is superb but the tuners are a little cheap though. The strap buttons are pretty solid but they should be a little wider and stronger because it did fall on me once. But again, it came out with no nick or anything. I depend on this axe constantly but my Washburn is my main axe. I use the two just as often though. I have another axe, a Jackson which I cannot stand. I could use this at a gig without a backup but I break a lot of strings and I don't have the time or patience to change them so I always bring atleast one extra axe.

Never dealt with them. Never will have to. Last I heard Silvertone went out of business in the sixties or seventies so there is no one I can bring it to. But I don't understand how I came across a brand new Silvertone in 1997. I do all work and modifications on it myself anyways. If I ever have a serious problem, which I probably never will, I know who to bring it to anyways.

I have been playing for 2 years and this was my first axe. I own a Washburn BT-2 and a Jackson JS-20 besides this one. I like the sound of this one the most. If it were stolen or lost, I'd scrounge around for another one. I love everything about it. I don't hate anything about it. I wish it had some grover tuners though. But these tuners never fall out of tune. I just wanna say I love this guitar and I will never get rid of it. Everything about it is perfect. This guitar is one of those rare extremely well built guitars for a cheap reasonable price. If you ever come across one, GET IT. Whether your a student or pro, it's a great backup axe and it makes a great main axe.

It was made in about '97, 21 frets, three noisy single-coil pickups, 5 -way selector, vintage style Strat tremolo, horrible tuners. Came with 10 watt (I think) practice amp, cheap cable, 5 picks, etc.

I play all different styles, from country, to death-metal, to reggae, and this guitar can come somewhat close to what you'll need, but I strongly suggest replacing the pickups. The stock single-coils are VERY noisy. Don't touch the tremelo, as the guitar will drop WAY out of tune. I also recommend putting AT LEAST one more tremolo spring in it if you want to use the whammy bar. I used this guitar through a ProCo RAT, Ibanez SlamPunk, a Morley NSW switchless wah, and a DOD FX64 Icebox Chorus, to the practice amp, into an old GE receiver.

The action was pretty well set from the factory, but I set it REALLY high after I first changed the strings on it. The pickups were at a decent height, but I adjusted them dramatically as well. The high "E" tuner rattles whenever a string isn't on it, the bridge is rusting, the finish is flaking off in fingernail sized chips, and the nut broke in three pieces.

This guitar slowly went to crap before my eyes. After a little under 2 years, the finish is chipping off by the bottom strap button, the bridge is rusting, and the nut is broken in three. The strap buttons are surprisingly solid. This guitar lasted for about an hour in a "gig" situation, before it was almost un-tunable. I don't gig without a backup, as this guitar is now backing up my Epiphone SG.

i cant tell what year it was made, i bought it from a whole sale store that sells food in bulk. i saw it, and i loved it. the box looked really old and aged and the when i opened it, it smelled funny. 22 frets, laminated top i think, sunburst finish. 2 tone, 1 volume, 5-way selector, and threee single coil pickups, so it really gets great sound, especially the bridge pickup, way better then all the fenders i heard.mahogony body with rosewood neck. looks alot like the strats but id say the body is a bit longer, giving more strumming space and its a lot thinner then the fenders, which i love, cause i always hated the blockyness and thikness of the fenders. string through body with unlisted tuners, they seem to only stay in tune when your really racking it out though, like if im sitting strumming "sitting on the dock of the bay", once im done, itll fall outa tune(which is wierd to say the least) but when im hashing it out with the band (i play in a punk band called NO PRIDE) its great. normal freats, not jumbo or small, normal. and it came with a gig bag, strap, cable, silvertone amp and truss rod adjustment tools.

i play alot of punk and grunge and its great. i usually play through this gargantuiam messag/boogie my drummer owns and all i use is a minimum of bass with the treble and middle all the way up throught the bridge pickup, always. it gets a bit hummy on the bottom pickup, a bit too hummy if you ask me, butwhen played with the middle as well, its quiet as could be, i think its the silvertone amp tough, it only happens through that amp. great sound, were a a fun band, fast chords, loud sound, and it holds it every step of the way. it gets deep deep sounds (believe me) to really high jazzy sounds (this is a strat style remember). i really love my silvertone, it was my first guitar, my dad really wanted me to get a more expensive guitar, but i stuck with my silvertone, its a really great guitar to play with. the only thing i would say i dislike is the pickguard is a bit big, like the pickup slots were cut a little too big, but i just took it off and slipped some appoxy and some rubber under the thing, its stuck like ....a....big stuckky thingy. the loosness didnt bother me, but i was worried that when picking, i might, hit it and have the pick slide down in it, i woder if it would fit, i dont think the hole was big enought though, but im the worry rock for you.

only thing was the pick guard cut. little too big cut for the bridge pickup. really great guitar though, i cannot stress that enought people. what i absolutly love about it is that it looks old and roughed a bit. and have dropped it and dropped things on it, like a guitar stand, and it has got 2 or 3 nicks and dings, but thats whats great, it took the shots good, and i really love the beat up, old look, im thinking about setting it on fire.

it will and has withstood live playing, it was wonderful. the hardware is great except maybe the tuners, they are sturdy but i think its just the metal is a bit soft, like it could get a dint it in if something hit the tuners hard enough. the finish is good, concidering i think the thing is old, it looks a bit worn from age, but when polished the thing will shine like nothing else ive ever seen, maybe something extra is there.the stap buttons are very solid, except on my old straps, it would tear the leather, so now i have one that just slips over the peg and locks. since its the only guitar i bring with me on gigs, yes, i would use it with out a backup, the holds the strings great, ive never had one pop. i always had to change thems cause i wore the strings down and it wouldnt stay in tune causet they were beat.

ive been playing for 2 years and i own one other electric. if it were stolen i would scour around for one of these, i never saw them again, and the only other place was from a store that had its site on the internet. i love the vintage feel, old looks, great sound, and playability. i learned to play guitar with this very guitar and i played my first gig with it, its great. when i compared it to my drummers fender strat, i found, it was too thik, as where mine is think and got a lot better sound, hes fender sounded a bit twangy, even through a distortion pedel. this silvertone flows great, music just pours from it, you just cant stop playing, i will write and write and write with it. SILVERTONE ROCKS, PUNKS NOT DEAD, NO PRIDE.
