with the changes made this is a nice guitar. Very easy to play and feels great on the shoulder. I always use more than one guitar for gigs. Guitar is reliable, and stays in tune very well. And i bend the hell out of my strings.

I've bin at this for over 20 years and have many guitars. It's great to stumble upon a cheap guitar that plays so well. The electronics are always bad on something like this. With a little work and some $$ this guitar is great. It's cool to be playing a silvertone. Some others said there silvertone SG's had partical board body's. Look for the mohagony body.

No idea where or when my Rockit was made. I bought it used from an individual on ebay. Still looks nearly new and plays new.
Same basic features as any decent SG copy.
My Rockit is a red one ... overall finish is fantastic. Comparable to much more expensive guitars.
Nice looking but poorly functioning tuners bring the score down in this catagory.

This guitar suits me just fine. I started playing in 1967 or 68 and have had some nice guitars over the years. After a long hiatus from playing (10 years) I bought this to get myself back up to speed. And while I am getting myself back "up to speed" I thought I would sell this one off and buy something better ... I have bought something a bit better now but the Silvertone is going to stay in my collection for a while. Probrably until I can replace it with a real "Gibson SG".
I play country, country rock, 70's rock, some blues and am learning to play some "metal" (my teenagers influence ... lol)It works well for everthing but country ... but I guess that's what my OE30 and my acoustic guitars are for.
I play this guitar through a Kustom KLA-40. Gets all the sounds I want !!! It's not noisy. I really think it sounds a lot like my 1970's Aria SG copy maybe a little better(wish I had that Aria back !!!)
Only thing I really don't like ... the dog-gone thing needs to be tuned after about an hour of playing ... maybe better tuners are needed ???
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

The action was set by the ebayer I bought it from and not the factory ... the action is light and smooth and fast.
All adjustments to the guitar where well done by prior owner. No complaints !
My Rockit is very pretty, only light marks here and there ... it was a good used guitar find for me. The finish and the hardware all seem to be very well done for a guitar in this price range. Really outstanding.

This guitar should withstand live playing without too many problems.
The hardware all seems to be of decent quality except for the tuners. The tuners look great and well made but my guitar don't want to stay in tune for very long.
Strap buttons seem very solid.
??? Use to play semi-pro years ago ... I probrably would have gigged with it. But not without backup ... this probrably would have been the backup guitar. I'm gonna score this guitar low here because of the "not staying in tune thing".

No clue ... I see Samick has a website and I believe this Silvertone is made by Samick .... but no mention of anything "Silvertone" on that site.
Anyone know the customer support/contact/website info for these later day Silvertones ??? email me !!!
I'll give the guitar a low rating in this catagory for not being able to find the contact info myself.

I've been playing since 1968.
I asked the vendor if this guitar would help me regain some of the skills I had lost over a 10 year hiatus from playing ... he said it would .... it has !!! 'nuff said .........
If it were lost or stolen would I replace it ? only if I couldn't come up with the $$$ for something better ... like at least a Epi G-400
I like the nice finish and the SG style. I don't like that it won't stay in tune for very long.
I was looking for a cheapo electric ... I've always liked the SG look and sound .... this one was cheap and in nice shape so I bought it.
I wish it had better tuners.
Great beginner guitar ... sounds and plays good enough to not discourage fledgling guitarists. Not a great guitar for anyone beyond "intermediate". Although in a good guitarists hand she can sound quite nice !

I dont know the year it was made, probably 2003. 22 frets. 2 volumes and 2 tones for controls. Also a 3 way selector. 2 humbucker pickups. SG style guiar. stop tailpiece. Nonlocking cheapo tuners. Pack came with strap, really crappy gigbag (no pads)(get a new one right away), tuner, cable,10 watt amp(nice), pretty good video, a few picks.

I play rock and this guitar sounds real good through a distorted amp. I use a variety of Danelectro mini-pedals, crybaby wah, digitech whammy, digitech grunge pedal. Not real noisy. Great sound. Not great for toggle switch trick because its hard to locate. I like it a lot.

Good setup. Just change strings is you get through the mail. I didnt have to adjust the pickups at all. Everything in place. No flaws that i saw, but im not heavily trained to find flaws. Black finish is sweet.

Great to play live. Hardware is good except for cheapo tuners. Good finish but scratches pretty easilly. Good strap buttons. I depend on it. Use a backup just in case.

Been playing for year and a half. Own many effects. I would get a different guiar if this one got stolen just because i like change. I love the shape of the guitar becaiuse it is just like Angus Young's guitar from AC/DC. Dont hate anything about it. I chose this guitar primarily on looks. Wish it had pickguard that went above the pickups instead of just below them.

it has 2 chrome covered PAF copys that are very hot,wax potted, but could use double potting because of unwanted feed back. this is manageable if you adjust the pups lower. nice sound good bite on the b and nice warm on neck.not duncan quality, but as good as epiphone.

thisw depends on if the guitar was set up by a professional. i bought it from a shop that guarentees set up so i didnt worry about it being a 2nd.at a third of the list price this guitar (set up pro) is better than any A1 ssg 21 off the shelf not pro set up,nobody sees the used stamped in the back of the headstock, and the finish is pretty nice.the action is as nice as my epi les paul standerd, like butter.

this guitar is as sturdy as any sg bolt on out there,i would prefer a set neck and there really isnt much difference in sound.bolt on necks are easier to repair if (GOD forbid)you break the headstock.

ive been playing for over 35 yrs off and ,semi pro for last 10 yrs.i did a lot of re search before buying .this is definitly the best sg copy under 300 out there especially set up.i know asian guitars are worthy of gigging because ive been doing it fore 10 yrs(instead of learning to type).i use to think i had to have at least epihone for its quality.but you pay more for the name.if you buy a no name, you can get the same quality for about 40% cheaper.this guitar is made at the same factory as epi(samick)and is as good as the epi compare this w/the epi sg special at150dollors this makes the epi look sick, even at the 150 new price at zounds.i only own asian guitars because of the price. i know this is unpatriotic but i didnt start nafta, which is the reason i dont make enough to buy u.s in the first place.dont think im a dummy because of my typing,im 49 and play every thing from metal to jazz and country.the feed back is only at metal max distortion, which can be fixed with duncan pickup up grade.to wrap up my review i will just say i have 5 guitars that if you didnt look at the name you would swear you are playing a u.s. maybe a gibson, fender u.s.(many fine mex. fenders. for reasonable prices),or gretch which make most of their guitars in japan, and sell them for thoundsands! ihave a oscar shmidt i got for 150 new! it rivals a tenn rose.check out reviews for delta king and you will see a lot of people have the same opinion.

a red body made out of nato-mahogany with a nato natural colored bolt-on neck. it has a rosewood fingerboard, two humbuckers, and the sg style control layout with four pots. a nice black pickguard, and small little dot inlays. preety much a no-frills, straighforward sokid body guitar.

I play a bluesy-rock style, and the guitar is well suited to that. though it's very versitle and can get a good sound for any kind of music you want.Though it's shaped like an SG, it sounds more like a strat. twangy for humbuckers. when it's distorted it has a very trashy, garage rock sound. it soesn't have much sustain though...

the setup wasn't that bad conisdering i bought it at Media Play in a friggen cardboard box. the action was pretty high and pickups were low, but that didn't take long to fix.

the only big problem with the guitar is the huge freakin bolt on the neck that's supposed to connect to your strap. it rips apart straps so fast i have to buy a new one way more than nessacary. oddly enough the strat button on the bottom is normal. besides that though, the guitar is as solid as a rock. th finish is pretty well done, but maybe in twenty years i'll be a bit more pissed off. i would depend on it to stay in tune for the most part, but id never take it on a gig without a backup, but even if i had a guitar that jesus himslef perosonlly handed to me i would never take it out alone.

This guitar is a great starting guitar that would probably last your whole life. I own a Gibson Sg Special and the Silvertone keeps up with it. If it was stolen, well actualy i doubt anyone would want to steal a guitar they could sell for, maybe, 50 bucks. But if anyone did steal it, I'd quickly become a member of the NRA. Yo really get your 150 dollars worth

For the money and the make I can't complain, I play punk-blues and the tone it pumps out can be put nicely into them. I play thought the house amps with a P.O.D unit infront and I can get the nice, warm tone I strive for. Like I said it has a warm, mellow tone to it thanks to the low string angle over the bridge and the mahogany body. The humbuckers seem slightly under-wound thought but that adds to the mellow tone. They don't seem to be noisy but it does vary with the amps I use and the pod clears it up a little too. Not very good for chording though; for some reason I can't find it just doesn't sound right

Out of the box I could play but the action was high for my liking. The wine red finish was wonderful, there were no thick spots or light spots. The one I bought was the last one they had and the show model so hundreds have sat down and beat the guitar before I had but it had absolutly no finish, electronic, or other technical flaws.

This thing is a tank, I'm hard on my equipment and I've had more expensive guitars break in less time that this one has survived. Yhe buttons are solid and I could hang it from a tree by the bridge and it would stay. The finish isn't going anywhere for a while I don't think. Stays in tune nicely and I would have no problem with giging without another guitar.

nice sound, nice finish, and I feel the need to say nice sound again because when people see a guitar under 200$ they say to themselves that it can't be worth their time but i ecourage them to look at this guitar if you can find it, it's well worthy of any player.
