The accoustic tone of this guitar is unbelievable. It has, in my opinion, the perfect mix of high and low but the natural low will bring tears of joy to your eyes. The sound quality beats the Taylor jumbo I traded to get it. If you add some chorus with just a touch of delay and reverb, the tone gets even a little richer. This is said to be an "organic" guitar. I don't know everything about what that entails but the finish is definately a special sauce and is put on very thin, be careful. The thin finish only adds to it's rich sound. Organic? I say orgazmic.

This is the first guitar I've ever owned that didn't need a little tweek to enhance playability. The pickups sound great. Like any accoustic/electric be careful with the mic in live application, feedback will occur very easily. I seldom use the mic at all during live performance. In the studio the mic side engaged at about 25% is a sweet sound. The neck is a perfect width and shape for me. The natural accoustic volume of this guitar is awsome.

As I mentioned above, the finish is a little on the thin side. Still great for live performance or especially studio work. It doesn't come set up with a pick gaurd but I would recommend one. The worst thing I can say about in in a live situation is that the battery is very difficult to change. I have to loosen 4 strings to get to it. The new models however, have been equiped with AER pickup system. If you buy the S&P CW Rosewood Pro Series, Make sure to get one hot off the press. Only the brand new production as of now, 11/06, is equiped with the AER and has an external battery compartment.

Here is where I had some problem. After a couple of months, the finish started to flake off in a small area. I took it to the shop where I baught it, they agreed there was a flaw. Then Their NW regional rep inspected it, he agreed it was flawed. When they called the company, they weren't even willing to look at it. Based on the verbal description of the area, magically they were able to determine that it was my fault. Acid in my skin, hard picking, extreme heat. After much argument they are sending me the new model equipped with AER electronics and solid rosewood sides!

I have been playing way longer than I care to admit.Probably 17 years. I have a small recording studio in Otis, Oregon...find that on the map! My first insturment are the keys, second, drums, third guitar and the studio is well equiped with all including digital recording gear and an arsonal of effects. I would recommend this or Seagull, also a Godin product, to anyone wanting to spend less than $2000 on a guitar. Once you cross that $2000 mark there are some others out there that I would consider. You should be able to pickup a cCW Pro Rosewood for well under $1500.00.

The guitar is a a single cutaway acoustic/electric with a solid spruce top, solid Indian Rosewood back and sides, a rose wood fretboard and is equipped with L.R. Baggs Duet electronics. This model is a hand crafted Candadian product which I bought new in 1994.
I would describe the frets as medium large. They are complemented nicely by a wide but low profile neck which makes fingering precise and easy. In my opinion the quality of this guitar plus the addition of the Baggs electronics offers the best array of features of any acoustic/electric that I've ever encountered.

I bought this guitar originally as a gigging axe. At the time I was working with a buddy (bass player) as a twosome doing a wide variety of folk, country, rock & roll, reggae...everything from the Everly Bros to UB40. This guitar was able to handle it all. The Baggs duet system is incredibly versatile allowing the mixing of sound from the piezo bridge pickup with the bout mounted mic. If you want full cathedral-like acoustic tone just dial in the mic and its there. If you want some country quackin' spank then turn up the piezo's and its there. This is not to say that you will want to deep six your Tele or Les Paul. This is not an electric guitar. It is a marvelous sounding acoustic in its own right however and those sounds are well presented by the on board electronics. Since I've retired from performing I have come to use the S&P as an unplugged acoustic and it has become the guitar I continue to reach for when I want to play. The acoustic sound has deepened and mellowed over the years and presents a beautiful rich full spectrum sound. The rosewood gives it much of its character at the bottom but the solid spruce top is what makes this guitar sing. I've played a few guitars over the years that I considered better sounding acoustics such as a 1950's era Martin and a custom Teigen but overall less than a handful. My 1970 Gibson Hummingbird which I've owned since then is a fine sounding box but can't compare to the S&P. The detail of the sound is excellent in both high and low end. The sound also does not break up when you thrash it (unlike my Hummingbird) which occaisonally my rock & roll instincts still make me do(just can't help myself)and yet it shines brightly and delicately when finger picked. In all its sound is unmatched by anything I've ever heard electrified and is a really great sounding acoustic instrument as well.

The setup on this guitar was just right for me from the moment I first played it at the music store where I bought it. I did "test drive" a S&P Flame Maple CW at the same time and preferred the Rosewood sound. The action was a medium height which I prefer and there never has been any buzzing at any neck position. As far as the electronics are concerned I never encountered any problems when gigging and really appreciated the low battery indicator light (a lifesaver for the forgetful!) The finish on this guitar is very tasteful but quite understated. It is not flashy in any sense of the word but it highlights the great quality of the woods that are used. And speaking of the quality of the wood I still get great delight in actually sticking my nose into the sound hole and getting a whiff of the sweet aroma of the wood in this guitar. There have never been any defects or flaws that I was aware of with the instrument.

Through years of playing (including many outdoor gigs in less than great weather and humidity!!) this guitar never flinched! The stability of the tuning used to just amaze me as we'd play in 90 degree heat at an outdoor club on the beach. If I had to adjust the tuning once during a 40 minute set it was unusual. I had an Ovation as a backup guitar just in case but I never had to use it. The hardware and finish withstood everything and today it remains a great looking instrument.

I've been playing for over 40 years now and have owned an assortment of electric and acoustic guitars including a Gibson Hummingbird, Ibanez Roadstar 2, Harmony 12 string, Variax 500, but this is the guitar that I'll take with me to my grave.

Factory set-up rates as very good...low, light and easy to play...fit & finish were as expected of an instrument at least 3 times as expensive...nicely book-matched top...excellent quality (if extremely plain) inlays...guitar is slowly 'opening up' in sound quality.

The instrument lives on the road...changed the machines for Grover 18-1 classics...finish is VERY delicate...the thing is stable and ultra-depedable aside from that...this is a working man's axe, and it earns it's keep evry night.

Made in Quebec, Canada. Single Cutaway solid spruce top and solid rosewood back and sides. Somes with B-band electronics that sound very good amplified and direct into the multi-track. The B-band pickup has a volume, mid, treble, and bass control. They are not sliders but small pot-like knobs which a very effective. There is 9v battery compartment located on the strap-nut side of the guitar. There is also a low battery LCD on the pickup control panel.

I had been looking for a really good but cost effective acoustic for a while. I own a Seagull cedar top which I enjoy very much as a knock about guitar (family outings etc.) so I was familiar with the Godin products. But I wanted/needed something a little brighter. I went to all the local shops - tried everything in my budget range and even beyond (Taylor/Martin)and found I kept going back to the S&P. This guitar just sings. Best bang for the buck and then some. The very day I was planning on buying it new, a used one came on the local market. Needless to say I jumped at the chance and got a great deal. The new ones have since gone on sale but I still saved a bunch. This guitar sounds better and better each time I play it. Now it obviously is not a Martin, however, one of my realtives owns a 40 year old D-28. I can't say that the S&P is THAT good but it doesn't sound low end or cheap next to that Martin either. It can't get a 10 because, frankly, that Martin IS a 10!

I find the looks of this guitar outstanding. As a matter of fact when I first brought it home my wife, who is NOT in any way guitar savy, immediately commented on its great appearance. When I played it for her she said somethng about how it sounded very much like one of the CD's she has. (the Mavericks, I think?). The construction is also excellent. What a great neck and overall feel. I especially like the cutaway. The action is low with no buzz except if I really go at it aggessively - that's not how I usually play anyway. The only thing that annoys me, very little though, is the plastic heads on the tuners. I mean come on , Mr. Godin, the guitar is a great piece of craftsmanship. I think those plastic heads cheapen it somewhat - but hey, they don't compromise the sound so what the heck, I can live with them. That is about the only thing that irks me about the guitar.

This guitar seems very solid. It can hold its own under normal conditons and then some. But it is an acoustic guitar - so it has its delicate side. I would trust this guitar to hold up at a gig without any worry. I bought it for recording at home only but I will probably drag it around with me eventually. I have no worries about its durability.

I have not had to contact them for this, or any other, guitar as yet. However, I have communicated with the company in the past and they responded very quickly and thoroughly. Ii have no doubt that they would back up their products.

Well yeah, I've been hacking around for close to 40 years (started really, really young!!!haha) In all, I currently have about 11-12 guitars. In addition to the S&P, I have that Seagull I mentioned above, and also the Godin SD electric (great axe). Among the other guitars there is a Strat, as ES-335, Fender basses, and some old Hagstrom stuff and various other oddities from my past! I would buy another one of these in a heartbeat. If you can get a used one go for it - but even buying it new it is still a bargain for the quality and sound.
