was a gift to me so I'm not sure when it was made but it has a solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides and a satin finish neck (which is incredibly comfortable and shines out as you play it. It's an accoustic and, while I'm very hard to please, this guitar does the trick, albeit nothing fancy.

Sound : 10
I am a metal/rock/blues/jazz player so this guitar is great for practicing and warmups. I've taken it down to the coffeeshops and played a wedding with it and the sound was always quite good. It's a pretty loud guitar when compared to other accoustics (I do work at a guitar shop and believe me-I've compared) The sound is warm, but also bright, in my opinion it's just right for an accoustic, if not a touch bright. But that's good for coffeeshop gigs.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
When I first got this guitar the action was waaay to stiff and high. However, I am a professional guitar tech and so this was quickly taken care of. The design is similar to most modern dreadnoughts and the sunburst finish is very nice. However it's the mahogany back and sides that really look beautiful, but I could have just got lucky.

I've played guitar for fifteen years. I have no other accoustics but my other gear is as follows: highly modified Epiphone Les Paul Classic quilt, modified Ibanez SA160QM, Peavey Classic 30 amp, Vox AD120VTH Valvetronix head, Vox AD212 cab loaded with Celestion Century speakers, Vox VC-12 footcontroller, Danelectro fab-tone, and have owned tons of other gear in the past. This is not the guitar I would have bought for myself, but only because it's sunburst and I like the look of a natural finish.

-Solid cedar top (not spruce) anyone can pull of the spruce but Simon and Patrick take cedar and give you an out of this world sound
-3 band electronics giving great diversity of sound when plugged in
-mine has a satin semi gloss finish which I really like but will comment on in the durability section.
-rosewood neck extremely playable

Sound : 9
Because of the cedar you get a ton of resonation that rings and rings as well sounds great palm muted
beautiful full sound.

The guitar came well set up, but having it in quebec for a while cost me a lot in frequent set ups the wood took 2 years to settle down and now it's pretty good

Reliability/Durability : 7
I play it live a lot, but the semi gloss finish has bee somewhat unprotective there are a couple of small nics nothing too bad though

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to deal with the company

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for ten years and this is my third guitar, I don't really see any need to ever think of another, until it's time to move to a garrison, taylor, martin

Crafted 2003, Quebec, Canada. Solid top (spruce). Mahogany back & sidees. Rosewood bridge & fretboard (21 frets). Dreadnaught. Nitro-cellulous finish. Satin finished nack that smooths with play and wear.

Sound : 8
Big, Boomy, and becomes delicate when played lightly. Exceptional balance and intonation throughout. Shimmering upper-midrange voicing.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Perfect set-up/action. No flaws that affect playability/sound or cosmetics.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
These questions seem rather useless unless you're rating a poorly made instrument i.e. (Squire) or non-American Fender.

Playing since a young age. Listening from a young age. Learning from a young age. This guitar tends to feel like a very solid built 'toy' at times due to the fact that it is SO comfortable and easy to play and I must admit, I was fooled by it's toyish looks and $500 and under price tag. It's almost impossible not to look at the sunburst and unbound rosewood neck and think it's merely a cheap toy. When you actually pick it up and start finger-picking, followed buy some strumming, you can't believe your hands, ears and eyes. The neck fits so beautifully in my palm and does not change as you move up the fretboard. Beautiful, loud, shimmering and clear. Not too much bass and a nice warm, loud, thick treble register. Nitro-cell lacquer finish sounds and feels (even smells!) beautiful and should be the standard as far as guitar finishes go! All for under $500! Not sure why you would spend $2-3000 on a 'Takamine' when you can buy value like this one. Talkamine has always sounded thin and looked ugly to me and I could never justify buying one just because Garth Brooks uses them extensively for air guitar. Modern Country is, and always has been, just a marketing ploy for the kind of people that say "cheap beer tastes good. " Mullets are NOT cool!!! One of the more expensive hand-made guitars out there today that I DO feel is an overall value and a beauty is the Yairi DY-84 of the Alvarez family. That is a god damn beauty and is around $1800. I will own one. Cheers.
