2009 Squier Classic Vibe Strat. Candy Apple Red, r/wood neck, tinted/aged 3 ply s/plate and controls. Slim shallow C profile light amber stained neck, six point bridge with sixties style saddles. Kluson style machines, staggered pole p/ups and 5 pos' toggle. Beautifully constructed guitar for 250 UK pounds new. This range of guitars are superb value for money. If you like the Fender range and can't afford the real McCoy try these you won't be dissapointed. Made in China !!! I don't care, these are well made guitars.

Sound : 10
I love anything from Texas blues to Funk fusion and back to Modern blues. It does all of these and will give you a great hint of Hendrix if you wish. The contrast between the p/ups is very distinctive. I play with some drive and the bridge gives a bright squeal with the mid position mellowing out a touch and the neck producing that lovely stratty round sound. Apparently there are some of these guitars out there with the thinner 60s frets. Thats the only thing that could have improved this guitar, anyway it horses for courses. There is nothing I don't like about this Strat. If you don't like Strats, don't buy one.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Factory set-ups I allways find have a slightly high action for me so, a quick tweak with the supplied allen key and all was well. No high frets thankfully and no sharpe fret ends, all nicely smoothed round. I also find factory set-ups have too much concave bend in the neck, this one was nice and straight for a change. Intonation fine, slight adjust to the p/up hights. No finish blemishes or other problems so away we go.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is a very good strat that has been very well put together. No, its not a Fender but hey' it cost less than half what you would pay for the real thing. My backup is the Classic Vibe Tele' and thats great too.

My local dealership is great, they'll see me o.k. if there's a problem. They'd better I spend a fortune in there.

Overall Rating : 9
I love this range of guitars. I have been playing, teaching and gigging for years, as time goes on you just know what a good guitar feels like. I picked up the Classic Vibe Telecaster first when I saw it in my local music shop and just had to have it. I have since bought the Classic Vibe Precision Bass (which is stunningly good) and this Candy apple red strat is as good as the others. Of course they cannot be compared to Fender Costom shop etc but, when you balance out the quality of these guitars to the price paid you sure get yourself a bargain.
