This guitar has an Agathis Body with a C shape maple neck. 22 Medium Jumbo Frets. The Pickups are 2 Duncan Designed??? P90-2 Pickups with Alnico 5 Magnets (Neck/Bridge).
The most interesting part of this guitar for me were the Les Paul style pickup controls:
Volume 1. (Neck Pickup),
Tone 1. (Neck Pickup),
Volume 2. (Bridge Pickup),
Tone 2. (Bridge Pickup)
Pickup Switching 3-Position Toggle:
Position 1. Bridge Pickup
Position 2. Bridge and Neck Pickups
Position 3. Neck Pickup
The Bridge: 6-Saddle Strings-Thru-Body Tele Bridge
Machine Heads: Standard Die-Cast Tuners

Pickguard: 3-Ply Black

When I bought this guitar in 2007, I was listening to Jeff Buckley alot and he used to use A very nice looking and sounding cream American Tele. All I had at this time was a cheap Epiphone special II which is basically a Les Paul on a diet, with a bolt on neck.. Great for beafy metal and rock but bad for mellow tunes like Buckley. So I found the Squire I'm writing about in my local guitar shop, it was cream, sounded creamy and for a nice cheap price.

Starting with the pickups.. They are P90s which are beafy pickups but still have a nice amount of twang so this guitar sounds like a Tele.. only beafed up a bit.

The separate volume and tone controls are great if turn you volume and tone down a bit on the neck and all the way up on the bridge you get from creamy Buckley type sound on the neck, to big fat ripping lead sound on the bridge. The pickups sound surprisingly good with both clean and distorted sounds.

The only bad point about the sound for me is the fact that when you had it on a distortion setting, you abviously get a hum which is fair enough because they're single coils. It wouldn't sound the same if it had humbuckers. I use a noise gate on distorted sounds which helps but.. the Hum is just the nature of the beast.

The best thing about the guitar for me is the playabilty. It's spot on. One of the best Tele necks I've ever played. It's all maple, unfinished and plays like a dream. Because the frets are Medium Jumbos they alow you play alot faster and lighter than say a Standard Squire but they're not jumbos, you can still be quite heavy handed for the bluesy stuff.

The only bad point about the neck is when you play on the first fret of the G string, the note is slightly sharp. This is a problem I've found on 90 percent of all guitars I've played, Strats, Teles, Les Pauls, PRS styles.. whatever, it's anoying and hard to solve but hey.. it's only one fret, doesn't matter too much. Just find a nice middle ground with the G and it's tolerable.

The Overall look of the guitar is brilliant I really like it. You can get it in Cream body. with black scratch plate or in an all Black body.

If you put this in a row of a dozen teles this one would always stand out with it's Les Paul style differences, tis a nice looking thing.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I've never gigged with it. I always say really look after your stuff don't just shove it in a case and expect it last at gigs.. treat it like you would a more expensive custom shop job that's worth say 3 grand.

It's a fairly light guitar and I've gigged with light guitars with bolt on necks that were cheaper than this and they've lasted fine at gigs.

Just be careful with it,.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never had to deal with them, all the squires I've played seem to be very well set up and most other people seem to have no problems with them.

I've been playing properly since 2002 and owned loads of different style guitars. This guitar is one of the love at first sight deals. It plays well and sounds well. Don't be put off by the name. If you're thinking of saving up for a mexican fender tele version of this,, if they have a version of this.. I wouldn't bother, there's only a really big difference if you buy an American Tele.

This guitar is different, it's not the same old standard tele design, it's got real character and a really unique sound. I'd recomend it to any player.
