First off, I've got to say, for the RRP this is a really great looking guitar. I wonder if the stagg logo comes off, so I can stick a gibson one in there. Oh, who am I kidding...
Mahogany Body, Double Humbucking V shaped guitar, 22 Frets, No whammy type thing.
I only went online to buy a cable, and ended up buying this. I bought a cable too, only to find that this comes with what looks like a rather good one. Oh the irony is killing me. Oh, and it came with a Trevor key. Oh, soory... Allen. And a guitar shaped box.

Seems ok, for a cheap guitar. Sounds good through a v-amp, and through a big loud Laney solid state thing, it did well. My one concern was microphonic feedback, but no, when I turned the amp up (sorry neighbours), while the buzzing did happen to a certain extent, and if I stood right in front of the amp there was some squeal, it was controlled completely by touching the strings, and I really, really wasn't expecting that. Not the best pickups in the world, but not the worst, either. And they weren't all wobbly in their holes like you see so often. Nice and firm. Oh yes.

The neck isn't the smoothest, but more than acceptable at this price. As I say, the guitar looks absolutely great considering the stupidly low price. No flaws I can see, and it is of a decent weight too, so I suspect that it might actually be made of mahogany. No really.

Who knows. Looks solid enough, but being a V, who knows if the horns will stay scuff free. Strap buttons may be an issue - strap came off easily even with Grolsch beer stoppers on.
Would happily use it as a backup once I know how the feedback is in a mic'ed up venue.

1 year warranty - not dealt with Stagg, but their website is dead unfriendly. It was really hard to search for a specific guitar. Type in 'Flying V' and you get no results. You have to search through about 500 guitars manually.
Anyway, I digress. Guess we'll see.

Playing 15 years - in two originals bands, and a covers band which also backs a kiddies singing group. Rock and indeed roll, eh?
I paid so little for this and that is probably why I am being nice, but I think if I'd paid ??150 I wouldn't be disappointed. Maybe its the dealer I bought it from who set it up, but looking at some of the problems listed by others, I just haven't seen them. Hooray.

It has 22 frets, dont know if it previously had fret markers on it, but if it had, they have been painted over or scratched off.
2 humbucker pickups, dont know what make.
Its got a sort of matt finish, so it gives it a cool black look,
non-locking tuners
The strings on mine are quite loose, this is great for bending, it might just be because of the gague i use (10's)
Sound
:

the clean tone is good, not as good as a fender strat, but it suits my needs perfectly,
The distortion sound is good, but a but bluury, it sounds a bit like painkiller by judas priest.
I run it through an 80 watt Peavy amp and a multi-effects pedal which i bowored off a friend, this helps me get the distortion i need.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action is not that high, i prefer the strings to be high over the pickups like on a les paul, because i dont like to keep hiting the scratchplate every time, this helps a lot with palm-muting i think.

Ive played it live before and it has served me quite well.
Don't know about the hardware yet.
The finish looks like it ill last, but i tend to be very careful with it anyway just in-case.
The strap buttons are quite solid, but my strap sometimes comes off, I probably just need a new one though.

Ive been playing for just over two years, i own two more guitars, a strat copy and a liberty flying v which im in the middle of fixing up.
If it were stolen or lost, i'd probably cry ha ha ha
Out of all my guitars, this one has the best sound. The liberty sounds awful right now, but ive got plans for that one
I wish it had a tremolo bar

I got this guitar because I've ALWAYS wanted a Flying V and as I already have 2 guitars this was more show than anything so I was looking for a really cheap model.
The guitar has 22 frets, 2 humbuckers each with their own volume control and a shared tone control. It has a 3 way switch to select either or both pick ups.
I have the black model with the white scratch plate (different from all the adverts as it only covers the lower part of the guitar not top as well, making it look way better than expected) and it looks fantastic and has a satin finish. This model certain DOES have a coating on it.
The finger board is rosewood, a bit rough and not as easy to play as my BC Rich or Jackson, and the neck maple. The bridge is tune-o-matic and all hardware is chrome.
I paid #10 extra for an accessories pack including a superb BC Rich case, a strap, pitch pipes, a lead and 10 picks.

I play metal and hard rock, with an occasional bit of mellow stuff for practise purposes. The sound is ok for my style. You have to have everything up high to get the sort of sound I want. When set on the neck pick up only the sound is very muddy.
Currently just using it through a Marshall bass combo but it has plenty of settings so works fine.
No prblems with interference etc.
Guitar suited better for playing rythmn as opposed to lead as the sound is not very bright.

Got the guitar through the internet and when it arrived it was badly out of tune, other than that absolutely perfect. One little gripe was the sratch plate was covered in a protective coating and that is very hard to get off, particularly under the control knobs.
Set up of the guitar seems really fine, especially considering the cost, better than more expensive guitars I have owned.
I have read some reviews that say there is no coating, well mine ceertainly has so I think they must be referring to the gothic model. The body is very light and unless you hold the neck it has a tendancy to tilt forward.
All hardware has been nicely set up. The body has a lovely finish but the neck is rough and not as easy as most guitars.
Action is set nice and low.

So far it seems really durable with no problems playing live but I haven't had it that long so I can't say for definite, same goes for wether the hardware will last but don't see why not.
The finish on the body is great but the sratch plate does mark very easily, the looks are the main feature of this guitar.
I have it as a spare and it looks just great sitting on it's stand. Strap button is solid but not as big as on my other guitars.
So far it has not let me down in any way but I wouldn't like to gig with it without a back up, in fact I see it more as a back-up guitar.

I have been playing for over 20 years, most of that time as a bass player using a Rickenbacker 4001 through an H&H 150w 2x15 and a IC100 amp. Now concentrating more on guitar I still own the bass set set but the guitar gear I own is a BC Rich Warlock, a Jackson DS1 and a Satellite Les Paul played through a Marshall bass combo.
I wished I had asked if it could come with a spare sratch plate.
If it was lost or stolen I WOULD buy it again, particularly if I could get with the same size sratch plate cos it really does look amazing for a guitar costing this little.
I Love the look and it stays in tune well. There's nothing I hate it about it, I suppose the neck is the feature I like the least.
I compared it to a number of similar priced guitars, but I choose this for the look and the fact that I'd always wanted a V.

I bought the guitar at a local store and i mainly bought just because of the looks! It's a pretty solid guitar with passive electronics. I do not like the humbuckers. There to overdriven/noisy and they seem to have a lot of feedback very quick. I got it with a Case, a strap and a cable.
Sound

It suits my playing style(old metal, hardcore, punk) after i changed the humbuckers. I've put a Dimarzio Dual Sound at the Bridge and a Gibson P94 at the neck. It gives a solid rock n roll sound that's just beautiful. I just use as a backup guitar and play it in some songs dat need the rock 'n roll sound. The original humbuckers where shitty.

It was pretty bad, the pickups where completely unbalanced. And the tone was broken. The quality wood is ok and the neck is pretty rough but i like that.

The guitar will be great live. It's an eye-catcher and it produces a decent sound. Don't expect to much for this kinda money though... The hardware is pretty shitty i opened it up to look at the electronics and to replace the humbuckers and it is very cheap quality but with a little money and a lot of work it can be a great guitar. The finish will come off after a single "BOING" but just be carefull. You should treat it like a lady, be gentle.
The strap buttons are great! They can have a lot of weight. I never use any guitar without backup...

I have for a year now and i just can't compare it with my other guitars. I have a gibson LP Studio and the quality of that one is just amazing but everybody got it's favorites ;)...
If this guitar was stolen i probably won't buy it again... But for the money i think it's a guitar everybody should love. My favorite feature about this guitar is the neck. It's solid and rough. But most people like it smooth... i just don't.
I wished it was with a floyd rose but for this kinda money you can't expect it. And a cheap brand floyd rose is just nothing i want on a guitar.

22 frets with a black finish. Neck not of rosewood but the overall guitar is very light compared to Fender Strats or yamaha Strat copies. Has 2 Humbuckers with two knobs, one for each. I got a very strong case with a smart violet interior, strap and a couple of picks. Not very much but the case and the strap aren't cheap. Very durable. Has also a 3 way switch.

I like Metal, Grunge and Bush-style - heavy and chunky. Really good about the sound but you have to put the Treble on 9/10, Middle 2/10 and Bass 8/10 to get this sound. I use a Fender 15R with no effects. It produces a little hum but I guess a lot of conductive paint will solve the problem. It gets to disturb you during those short silent times and to stop the "bizzzzzzz" youve got to hold the metal parts of the guitar.

The paint has no coating and got chipped off after a slight bump. The humbucks were too high near the neck and too low near the bridge. But I adjusted that with some help from a trustworthy magazine. The bridge is properly routed. The guitar bails fowards as the strap is fitted very akwardly at the tip of the V. It gets really discomforting to carry: my neck sometimes gets stiff. But its pretty good to sit down with, for practice at least. The pegs are a little cheap themselves they are a little funny: sometimes they slip easily sometimes they become really hard to tune. The plug for the jack unwound itself after about 4 months of light playing. Average

It looks great for live playing and will sound good - obviously after arranging the humming problem. Its durable and anything but flimsy. The strap buttons are rock solid but I decided to change mine with a pair of locking ones from Planet Waves. Its very dependable. But there are guitars that are better and I would not go playing on a gig without a backup. Up on stage it looks fantastic.

Wish it had a tremolo arm (I know its ought to be like that but it lacks something so useful). It was costly but it was worth it. I love it and I've only owned it for about 9 months. Instead of it I would buy a Beast from BC Rich. I hate the fact that it's unbalanced and the hum. I compared it to a Yamaha Strat copy. Bet it down right. I chose it because it was so showy and eye-catching - but it payed to buy it.

Got this off E-bay for #107, first guiutar. 22-Fret. 2 Volume pots for each humbucker, 1 tone, 3 way selector {Bridge, Neck, Bridge+neck)Stock Stagg pickups with i replaced bridge with dunc distortion. 2 humbuckers with 3 magnets, 2 unknown inside each pickup with additional ceramic on back of bucker. Passive. Probably rosewood, its very lite. Black finish, not sure if its coated. T.O.M bridge with stop tail. Non-locking stagg standard. Thin (i think) Rosewood cover with maple back neck. came with lead

My style is weezer/greenday/pixies and it does a good job. Using it on an old sort of early 90s Kustom 20W amp (solid state, called KLA20) Certain amount of hum from cavity, the electonics are pretty below standard but i put on extra layers of conductive paint and not much has came from it. This is a decent guitar, i put a stew-mac black ice capacitor in its bridge volume pot and put a dunc distortion on the bridge so its got a distortion channel as i called it and the neck is very nice and clean, if not a bit bassy. Its not as bad a guitar as you might believe, it beats squire flat out and is close to an epi special2 (with a bit of modding).

Certainly a problem is the positioning of the strap lock on the V fins. Its on the flat part that balences it on the ground so it take damage and its positioning creates an irritating neck dive. The main flaw of this guitar is its body, there is literally NO coating so it is very liable to taking bit knocks, not much a problem for me though as i stickerized that sucka. Nothing much else is shockingly done, say for the lax job at conductive paint

This guitar can now "go the distance". The old bridge pickup i gave to a friend, but its now got a split through the middle of the soingle coils, boo. Finsh will fall quicker than Niomi Campbell in stilletos...drunk. Strap locks are VERY durable, since one always has weight on it due to it being load supporting. I'd probably use it as a mian guitar, but keep a shitty back-up

I LOVE its weight, people envy it, i ahte the fact its got a wussy coating. I compair it NOW (with mods)to epi quality, better than squire by far. i with it had a 2nd ton pot. erm...want a sweet?

this guitar had caught my eye while i was in my local guitar shop. they had it hanging in the corner, and after talking to some of the guys in the shop about it, it seened that no-one wanted it. however i got it as i needed one so badly as i was ripped off with a bad LP copy.
any way, 22 frets, lightweight body, fret board is dark wood, most likely not rosewood, 3 way toggle switch, 2 volume and 1 tone, 2 cheap and nasty humbuckers and black body with white plate

my style is mostly green day and other punk type stuff, but i also like to play soft kinda stuff. therefore i thought the pickups where gonna be crap, and i was planning on buying some EMG's for it. i was shocked at how decent it sounded! not great compared to my most recent purchase of a ibanez destroyer, but still not bad. the amp i played on in the shop was a line 6 of some sort. it still sounded good on my own amp at home, an old 1x12 torque 50watt. it lacks balls at low volume levels, but crank it up and the pickups roar into life. i put it through a danelectro black coffee distortion, and was still pleased

action was not good when compared to other brand new guitars in the shop in the sub #150 range, but i got uesd to it. however it would put any beginner off playing, but a little money, and i have had the action made better.
pickups needed my own ajusting as i felt them to be two high, but this is down to personal choice.
hardware is, at this price, gonna be bargin bin stuff, but it's not bad, and does the job well. no problems with switches or bridges, but the jack did need fixing after 2 weeks. i have gathered that tis is a common problem on most of the stagg flying V range. cost was only #5, so not too bad
finish is ok. looks good and is great for showing off to all my mates!!!

yes it does with stand live playing...i know because i have used it live several times with my band, and no problems yet. hardware i think will last a good while, but that remains to be seen. a good dependable guitar, but i always have my destroyer at gigs with me, and the stagg as my backup. finish again seems good enough to last a while

the jack had to be fixed, as i said, after 2 weeks. i contacted the shop where i got it from, and they told me that it would have to be sent away, and no spare could be given out, and all sorts of crap like that. they just didn't want to help me at all so i went to an independent in my town, and he fixed it within 2 hours, ans all for #5. so, independents are always best, as they just do the job quickly and cheaply. warranty for 1 year i think, but it's been made void i think beacuse of the reapir

i have been playing for 2 years now, and i'm used to crap guitars, as that is all i can usualy afford. i am quite pleased with this guitar, but if i lost it, i would not buy another stagg at all. for #110 it's very good, and you get alto of guitar for your money, but i think it's better to buy a cheap ibanez or something second hand. i compared it with a second hand charvel that had been badly abused costing #120, and a westfield strat copy, second hand, priced at #145. out of those, the stagg was the better buy, as it was the cheapest, the best looking and it was new! no fave features apart from the look! on bad point is this: to repair, u would really need to be brave at taking off that plate, or pay to have it fixed, as bridge and all has to come out of it. a real nightmare!!!

Maybe it was just me but i couldnt play this guiutar for more than five minutes because the sound was so awkward and had no flavour to it (and this was through a new Fender tube amp so it wasnt that).Fiddling with the tone and pickup switch didnt really help so i gave up soon after.I tried a few different styles but none sounded good with it, ho-hum.

The action i found too high for my taste (bending the E got the B caught under my finger causing an abrupt end to the bend) but this could probably be easily rectified. The frets and finish were quite reasonable given the low cost and the pickups were of comparable quality.

I only tried the guitar in a shop so i dont know whether it would gig well but judging by the low quality in the shop i doubt it.The biggest problem with it is that because of its budget nature, the wood used is very lightweight. This means that the guitar will absolutely not stay level unless you are holding the neck constantly. This adds to the strain of playing as you have to hold the guitar in place as well holding the chord or whatever (especially awkward for sustained vibrato).

Ive been playing for about 9 months now.My guitar setup consists of a customised Mexican Strat (super strat pickups) and a Kustom 10 watt.Im soon going to buy either a Ashdown Peacemaker or a Line6 Flextone II to get some nice new tones.
I havent bought this guitar i played it in a guitar shop for a bit and that was enough to put me off.I know the guitar is aimed at the budget market but you would do a lot better with a Squier and some new humbuckers (or a LP/SG copy). The lack of balance is the biggest problem with the guitar and the Gibson V's use heavier wood for a more even weight but this is a budget guitar and it shows.
Overall though, despite my opinion,if you like the look of the guitar then try it out by all means.Maybe i just picked a bad individual guitar, maybe you'll love the tones and i hope it really works for somebody, but it aint for me :-(
