This guitar has a gotic-matt finish [in black]. In the BC Rich mocking bird design. It beats the original! I would want Stagg to bring out the same guitar with locking tuners however. As i got the guitar of ebay I got a cable free. I don't know where it was made, it has 24 frets and a 3 way pick-up selector. 2 humbuckers give a nice all-round sound.

Sound : 10
I play all rock music such as metallica, maiden, trivium etc. and this plays all with ease. The thing I found when I first used the guitar was how amazingly it palm muted. It really sound powerful and frightening [in a good way]. I have gigged with it a few times and it makes a very, very minimal amount of buzz. Even with gain turned to full. I play it through a Zoom 505II multi-effects pedal and i can get all different sounds from the guitar. I really can't fault the guitars sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This guitar was set up nicely by and the only thing I would change is the string weight. For a heavier sound nice thick strings make it sound rock!! The nice gothic-black paint finishes it nicely. It doesn't pick-up a fingerprint either which is great. I love the syle of frets [a gothy design not dots].

Reliability/Durability : 10
This will not fall apart. The thick paint doesnt ever seem like it will chip or scratch. I would definitely use this without a backup. All the harware looks time-proof. No fault here.

For the money there is nothing better to buy. Ive been playing for about 2 years and have had a few guitars. 5. This beats them all. If stolen, first I would be mad, then I would go back and buy a new one. Please, if your considering buying this guitar then go for it. The only problems would be a lack of tone knobs [only 1 for tone and volume]. And the way you need a high quality strap otherwise the guitar doesn't stay balanced.

Hey folks!

This is just a follow-up to my previous post (see below) because I tweaked around a little and also installed a PU to the neck position.

First of all, I got rid of that headstock decal and replaced it with a weird-looking eye. Just take a tool and work around that decal a little, it'll come right off. If you liked it better you can always glue it back in.

Sound : 10
I replaced the neck PU with a DiMarzio Super2.

It's even louder than the bridge PU now. Crisp, creamy, bassy sound on my Fender Twin, but pretty muddy kinda distorted sound on smaller Marshall transtube combo amps of a friend of mine, probably due to the high output and the amp not having enough headroom.

WAY better even than before.

Everyone I know (mostly guitarists) is really getting their ears caught by this axe and its sound. When they play it, everyone tells me that it has a superb sound and playability. They must know...

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
I set the neck straight, adjusted intonation, bridge and PU's a little and now it's a dream to play!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Stays in tune better now that I adjusted the action and everything. Should be reliable. Never had a problem - never even had a string break on this guitar, but I put new strings on every two months.

First of all: This is not the "gothic Model" and not the "GT" Model as it is pictured on www.staggmusic.com - the fret inlays vary. They?re dots and located on the lower side of the frets. Not gothic inlays and not those weird "cloud" (?) inlays of the GT version.

Dunno the year of making or where exactly they make those axes, but I?d say it?s not older than 2 years and probably from Indonesia/Korea.
It has only one volume knob, which you can of course also use for increasing or decreasing distortion and tone control. This keeps it quite simple but may be disturbing to some. There?s also a 3-way switch for different PU settings (the more or less usual thing).
The stock humbuckers really do sound quite good, but I?ll come to this later.

I think the body is made from solid Alder wood and the neck is maple with RW fretboard. Not bad at all. Could be better but it?s quite acceptable for that low amount of cash.
The body is a Mockingbird knockoff, but the bass horn is slightly out of position and the other horn is even better-looking than the original I think. Looks better than the BC Rich version, just as grimm but not as ugly.
It has a Les Paul style tune-o-matic bridge, nothing left to say about those. The only thing I don?t like yet are the tuners. They seem to be not as reliable as tuners could be. Maybe I?ll replace them someday, then this guitar should be killer.
The neck slightly thinner than a LP neck but (as said before) way beefier to play than the original BC Rich necks. Way better. I like it. The frets are quite big and there are 24 of ?em. The rosewood fretboard plays well but it?s kinda "new" and not old enough for smoothness yet. This is still to come in the next ten years.

Nothing included, only the guitar (bought it at a used music shop).

Sound : 10
I play harder rock, influenced by different styles of metal, stoner, southern and bluesy things, even surf music sometimes. This geetar, despite its looks, suits those styles very well.
I use it with an EHX Octave Multiplexor Re-issue, a Danelectro Wasabi Fwd/Rev Delay, a Polychorus Re-Issue, a ProCo Turbo Rat and sometimes a vintage Marshall Shredmaster (black box). All this goes straight into my Fender Twin.
When I first plugged it in I was really surprised - There?s hardly any noise at all. Only if you provoke it, sometimes the bridge PU can be a little noisy (when heavily distorted). No noise from the knob at all, no static noises (grounding problems) as well.

The sound (when distorted through the TurboRat) is best described as rich, warm, sometimes quite creamy and full. Almost exactly the guitar sound of some songs of the first album of the Queens Of The You Know What... I think this has to do with the stock PUs having quite a huge output. I?m thinking of installing Super 2?s, should even sound better then. Quite heavy also and therefore loadsa sustain!

The variety is really the cool thing about this guitar you can go Metal, Rock, quiet weird music, bluesy stuff all in one minutes with a little knob-fiddling and knowledge of sounds.

There is nothing I dislike about the sound. This guitar has really surprised me and hit me like a rock in terms of sound. Therefore, a 10!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Dunno how it was set up at the factory. Probably not too great because they really go for low prices. I bought it used and the owner of the shop where I got it usually tries to set up the guitars he sells as good as he can, and he really knows his work. Everything was fine. I?ll rate it "8" because I don?t really like the tuners but everything else is fine. Could it be possible that this is because I never had a guitar with a tune-o-matic bridge before and that they?re quite bitchy at the start? especially when using drop tunings (I use those a LOT)? Hmmm....

The only reason I gave it an "8":

IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO GET THIS UGLY STAGG PLASTIC DECAL OFF THE HEADSTOCK WITH LEAST POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE PAINT UNDERNEATH, PLEASE HIT ME A MAIL! Help appreciated.

I never do gigs without backups, but that?s just me being paranoid about strings breaking in the middle of songs. Can always happen, you NEVER know. The guitar is fine, if I had a guarantee that no strings would break this night, I would gig without a backup.

Looks and feels like it would last foroever if you take some care of it.
I already has a (small) chip in the paint because it fell over and crashed into a table. DAMN! The paint looks thicker than those of Gibson or Epiphone guitars, more like Fender thickness if anyone knows how thick those are. Its jet black and looks well done but nothing special.
Strap buttons look and feel reliable.
I think I can depend on this guitar.

Playing for 9 years now, I own a Fender Twin Amp, some effects boxes (some are actually mentioned above) and some other guitars: A MIJ Mustang, a vintage and ROCK-SOLID Framus (two humbuckers and I think walnut body), vintage Teisco and Jedson guitars, a Fender Jazz Bass, Danelectro Innuendo and a beat-up Samick strat copy. This Stagg Mockingbird is the newest in my "collection".

I love its shape, I love its sound, I love its beefiness, I also love its heavy weight, I actually prefer really heavy guitars since I got that vintage Framus (mentioned above) which seems to weigh a ton. Light guitars aren?t as much fun.
I hate nothing about it, except for the stupid plastic decal, and I kinda dislike the tuners, or is it the bridge?
If stolen, I?d probably buy another similar solid humbucker-equipped guitar from the same shop. Usually has loadsa great geetars, currently including an 80s Ibanez SG, a 70s Electra Les Paul and others for really cheap bargain prices!!!
I compared it to the guitars mentioned above and it?s nearly as heavy/beefy as my Framus but has a fresher feel to it and larger frets (but still thinner neck and less weight).

I wish it wasn?t black. I?d paint it beige, white, dark brown/red.

That?s it! I give it a 9 overall. If you get rid of the Decal and install other tuners, maybe other PUs (not quite sure yet) you have a killer guitar for a very low price!

This guitar is basically a stop tailpiece bridge and 2 cheap humbuckers. The feel of this guitar however is surprising, it has a very thick deep neck which makes it feel like a beefy SG neck rather than a thin bc rich neck you'd expect. the 24 fret neck has huge frets, its quite a nice play when it isn't plugged in.

Sound : 2
from its stock stagg pickups, chip-board body and bolt on neck..this guitar leaves a little to be desired. first of all, a good sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
i cant fault the setup, professional job. the action was nice, pickups adjusted well.

Reliability/Durability : 2
It was around 3 months until this guitar pretty much died. the wiring seemed incorrect when i opened it up, and one of the pots was actually glued in. Due to the quality of this guitar i would not recommend gigging with it, its a guitar to learn on and nothing more.

Customer Support : No Opinion
when this guitar stopped working i didn't think it was worth getting a pro repair it, i took out both pickups and replaced the bridge pickup with a nice quality humbucker, leaving the neck position a gaping hole (tres punk, oui?) i dont think this guitar came with any warranty.

Overall Rating : 4
cheap guitar. thats all it is. if you have a hundred quid and NEED a new toy go for it, just dont expect too much. this is aimed at teenagers who go for the guitars body shape rather than build quality. i rate it higher than other guitars in the same price range, but when for a little more you could get a cheap epiphone, its best to pay that little bit more.

This guitar is a marvel to play. It has a style unmatched by the real bc rich version (which is actually quite crap). As i am only 14, i find the 24 fret neck a bit of a strech but it solos like dream. I have found that it goes out of tune rather easily, with its non-locking tuners. I love the look of this solid-bodied quitar, it is heavy but this can be beaten by a good strap.

Sound : 10
10!! This guitar, when played with Boss DS-1 distortion sounds like the march of the dead! It's pure evil. I mean that in a good way though, as you can go from a crunch to a clean distorted tone (if there is such a thing). I think this guitar is better for rock although it can pull out any style.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
I had a bit of trouble at the start with loose knobs and strings that went straight out of tune but this was sorted by the shop. Now it hardly ever goes out of tune and i find the pick-ups easy to adjust for whatever sound you want.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Solid, Long lasting, and with a great tone..........what more is there to say!

Customer Support : 10
Take it back to the shop, although you probably won't need to.

Overall Rating : 9
This guitar is great. The only thing i would change would be the number of frets. Good value for money as it seems it is invincible [i play hard]!

im not sure where an where the guitar was made but honestley who's really bothered it has 24 frets and a laminated top. there is one volume control and a switch to choose between the bass and treble pick-ups. the guitar has a light coloured maple neck with a quallity finish. this guita kind of has a syle of it's own: it's a bit different. at the bottom of the guitar where the strings end they go into the body of the guitar. the tunning keys are just basic non-locking keys but they do the job. the neck is maple wood with a medium thickness, giving something to hold onto. i bought the guitar on its own without any accessories.

Sound : 7
i play rock and metal stle music on my guitar from old to present day led zepplin to taproot an it's all good. it is capable of mellow sounds for when your just chillin out and the raw hardness for the thrashin maxed out moments. at the moment i am using a 15 watt fender frontman amp and it sounds resonable on that but when i take it with me to school and play it on a 250 watt amp it sounds exellent. i dont have any effects just yet but i've got various pedels and effects down on my list for the forth coming christmas. it has a dominating powerful rich sound whitch can be controlled with the treblr and bass pick-ups, unfortunatly for the guitarist who likes a million different sounds these are the only pick-ups featured on the guitar. the sound is grey but the bigger the amp the better the sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
the guitar has a great action making it a joy to play. the pick-ups are ajusted well with a clear difference between the two. the guitar did'nt have any flaws in it what so ever

Reliability/Durability : 8
the guitar is as hard as nails it is good for personal use and good for perfomances. my guitar has had a few knocks and there is no visable damage and my prediction is that it will last an age. the paint on it seems to be a bit of a problem, it scratch's easily with a lot of playing and not have a scrach plate does'nt help but its nothing that a bit of polish can't handle. the strap buttons are extreamly solid i play my guitar at least three hours every day and there is no movment in them at all. i think i can depend on it and it would suvive a gig with-out back up but backing would'nt go a miss

Customer Support : 8
i have never had any problems with it but if i ever do need it looking at i would take it to a specialist in guitar repairs

Overall Rating : 9
i have'nt been playing long, maybee three months at the most the only other equipment i own is 15 watt fender frontman amp. before i bought it i wish i asked how muchg it weighs as it is very heavy. if for some reason i had to rfeplace the guitar i dont think i would get the same again, it is a brilliant guitar for the money but i would look at something within a higher price range like a gibson sg or a b.c rich. i love the guitar alround and it is my pride and joy my favorite feature has got to be the look, its a pure beast and the only thing i dont like is the weight but even that does'nt really bother me. when i went to buy a guitar i had a buget and obviously i tryed out more than one guitar to make sure i was making the write choice i compared it to a fender squire and a westfield les paul and it won by far with looks and sound. i wish i had some effects pedals such as distortion, delay and phaser e.t.c when your buying a guitar dont just try out the one or listen to what everyone else thinks a little advice here and there wont harm but it is your choice so go with what you think is write.

Not sure where it was made, nice black shiny body, looks identical to the BC Rich version, 24 frets, the only reason this doesnt get a 10 is the ugly white pickups!!! they have to go!

Sound : 10
This is where the guitar gains the marks, the usual BC Rich play metal.....and thats about it. This, however, is different. I play different styles, guns n roses, metallica, ozzy, andrew wk, more heavy/soft rock with the big solos! this guitar sounds sweet via the solo's, as sweet as you could expect of a guitar of this price, and sounds nicer than the BC Rich version (believe it or not!). Now, for the heavy and funky riffs, metallica style, this guitar simply rocks. if you're into those ozzy osbourne riffs, this guitar is for you. however, it goes out of tune quickly sometimes, but this sound simply rocks.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Not bad setup, ive seen better and worse. it was playable, one of the tuning pegs was slightly loose but that was easily adjusted. however there is one main gripe, the strap locks. now on most guitar's there is one at the bottom next to where you plug the amp cable in, and also one near where the neck meets the base of the guitar. however, this is different here. there is one at the bottom of the guitar near the cable connection, but one on the BACK of the guitar sort of opposite the pickups. i find that the screw comes out too easily sometimes, and you can feel the "crack" of the screw coming out and you think the guitar is broken! but i think some superglue would do here, it is annoying more than anything

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is quite heavy, but it is worth it for those riffs! it is built like a tank, very strong and reliable. a good strap is a must, as it digs into your shoulders if you have a thin strap. the strings are solid, ive had it for about 8 months and none have snapped (touchwood) so far, i can definately depend on this! i would bring a screwdriver for the strap lock as i mentioned above, but if you screw it in properly then it will last you around 4 weeks of playing before it needs tweaking again. no backup needed with this, a good price for one mother of a sound!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them, some people may be put off by the name "stagg" but it didnt bother me, what's in a name? its the sound that counts, and i believe this to be better than that of the BC Rich, the same rock riffs style, but smoother Steve Vai-ish solo's!!

Overall Rating : 9
I play this throught a Marshall G15 RCD, i have no other distortion as yet because of lack of money, and im a novice when it comes to equipment. i promise you, you will not find better for this money, ive played inferior guitars at twice, maybe three times the price. its worth it, but depends on your style of music. if you're into chuck berry instead of metallica, this isnt the guitar for you
