It's more or less an exactly replica of a contemporary Fender Stratocaster, only with an uglier headstock. T

Thought I would add some technical specs for those who are interested in modding (the assumption being that no-one in their right mind wants to be seen dead with a Stagg Stratocaster:

The following offered all care, no reponsibility - I measured this with a tape measure - it's not a scientific effort.

Neck Radius I would estimate at 9.5" - it's comparable to a standard US strat and definitely isn't ultra flat like some contemporary metal guitars - think blues not metal here.
Nut - 1 10/16"
Neck heel at pocket - 2 1/8"
Bridge (E - E string) - 2 1/8"
Bridge screws total spacing 2 1/8"
Individual saddles are 3/8" (10mm - note vintage saddles tend to be 11mm and won't fit without the bridge being replaced altogether)
Tremolo arm is fat - something like 1/4" - much fatter than Fender or Gotoh.
Frets are a good size; nice thick rosewood slab; the headstock is sadly ugly and is fitted with ugly tuning machings with "Stagg" plastered across the back of them.
Neckplate also has a rather ghastly "Stagg" plastered across it.
Singlecoil pickups of no particular distinction (it's an entry level guitar, after all) The hardware is all well put together and the electrics are done tidily.

Sound : 7
Pickups are passable, crisp and glassy clean, and sound ok overdriven (again, if your a bluesy/country player - a metal-head would hate them with a passion, and they break up loosely, and even the bridge isn't particularly tight , but not earth shattering. You actually need to roll the tone pots off a little otherwise they're too bright and biting (I lowered them right back away from the strings.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The body is three piece Alder, and is actually rather well finished (though the three parts weren't book matched), which was actually a shame, given what I had in mind for it - which was to put it through hell in the name of credibility. I took the body off, tied a rope through the trem cavity, hooked it up to my bike, and drove it round the park for half an hour. Looked nice before, but it looks COOOOOOOOOL now - like Rory Gallager's one!

The neck is very playable indeed - I got one spot where it fretted out at a full tone bend (I play with a fairly high action) but nothing that can't be buffed down. But the headstock is so ugly I'm getting a replacement neck with a fender style headstock. Purely for cosmetics - I'm exceedingly vain.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Fine - though since i've wantonly destroyed and reassembled it I have only myself to blame.

Customer Support : 2
There's no way of contacting Stagg through their website, which blows. I wanted to get tech specs as per above, but had to measure them myself with a tape measure (All care, no reponsibility accepted!

Overall Rating : 10
Have played for 25 years and I own 20 odd guitars, including three US Fender Strats and a Custom built job. From a playability perspective, this is definitely in the ballpark - the pick ups are a little crumby, but not too bad. For a beginner this is perfect.

And hey - this cost me ??13 on eBay - better value could not be had on the planet.

For setup see site...

Sound : 7
Sounds good for that price, only the amp sucks...
But hey, it's a cheap thing. And when you put the distortion on, it's perfect for practicing rock/metal songs.
Pickups need to be adjusted, but that's always the case.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Factory Strings -> bad, the first thing you have to do is change them with DS or any brand that you like.
The tuning pegs need to thightened alot (little screws) and once you've done that, it stays in tune for about a week...(when you have already streched the strings off course)
Pickup selector gets noisy after a while, same with the tone controls (i have it for about 3 years now)

Reliability/Durability : 8
I wouldn't use it live...maybe as a back-up...
Strap buttons are weak..be carefull with those!
I regulary tighten the screws of the whole guitar, so it stays in perfect shape...

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 7
Best guitar you can find for that money.
For practicing, its perfect (but give it to a musician to adjust it)
Off course, its not you're 'perfect' guitar who 'plays itself'
But when you play good and fast on this one, you can play good on any guitar...

Features : 9
Standard Strat-style guitar, made in China.
Sunburst alder body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard.
Nicely done through and through.

Sound : 9
It sounds like a strat. Clean with trem or reverb, or through a tube screamer, it does just what it should.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Over-the top nice finish. Plating looks quite nice on tuners and bridge. The top is not bookmatched, as it is a solid piece of alder. The tuners seem to be absolute keepers, and do have the screws to tighten them.

Setup was very close to perfect, with just a touch to the intonation necessary (after new strings). Action was low, with no buzzes.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Looks solid as a rock. A pair of those cheap little plastic button straplocks, and we're ready to rock. I'd trust it with no backup, but there's always at least 2 axes on stage, for different tunings.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Limited lifetime warranty.

Overall Rating : 10

As good a bargain as I've ever found on anything, at the price I paid. Nothing near it for anything like the price I paid.

I bought this for my son, who wants to build a custom-bodied guitar. This instrument was cheaper than a neck with tuners, and you'd still have no bridge.

The problem is, the guitar is too nice to part out. It's a beauty.

I compared this to the Squier Bullet, and this has the solid alder body. The Bullets are great, but these are better.

2007 model, Stagg is a brand based in Belgium, but the guitar is made in China or so probably. Satin maple neck with 21 medium frets, and a three piece adler (not AAA, of course) well matched.

Pickups: 3 x Single Coil - Controls: 1 x Volume + 2 x Tone - Pickup Selector Switch: 5-way - Body: Solid Alder - Neck: Hard Maple, bolt-on, 648 mm, (25.5 in.) - Fingerboard: Rosewood, 21 frets - Bridge: Classic "S" Style Tremolo with 3 springs and a medium sustain block - Machine heads: Diecast, nickel Colour: Sunburst.

Sound : 8
Classic strato sound, pickups with good output and tone. Not more noisy than other guitars with single coils, 'cause no one have noise cancellation like humbuckers.

This guitars suits well jazz (on neck pickup), pop, blues and rock styles like Hendrix, Clapton, Knopfler or Stevie Ray Vaughan. Not for metal or extreme music, look for humbuckers for this kind of music.

It's a good base to upgrade for a few bucks, if you don't like the pickups (I'm not gonna change them, for me are OK), the brigde, or the machine heads (I will change them for Locking Grover 18:1 only to gain confort, but they aren't bad at all). For it's price you can overcame this guitar, sure.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
When you purchase a guitar, the store must give you the instrument adjusted. The guitar came with brigde a little high, easily fixed tighten the springs screws, until the bridge touch the body. Intonation was OK adjusted in the store.

Heigh of pickups you must adjust on every guitar to your likes.

I tightened all screws for security, specially the machine heads screws. Strings height was fine too.

Flawless finish, and a superconfortable satin neck, with no cutting frets. I'm very happy with neck, more plain as the classic strato's necks.

Pots and 5-way selector could be of poor quality, but I don't worry, when they fail, I'll change for few money.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Woods hard as a rock. It could last with any problems for sure. Good weight and sustain like other stratos.

The finish don't seems thin, I think could resist life on the road. The strap buttons are solid. I can trust in this guitar, but never gig with only one, don't matter the brand. Always take two guitars with me, always with backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
2 years warranty, but at the moment never have to deal with the company.

Overall Rating : 8
I play for 16 years, and have another guitars, another DIY strato with Tex Mex on middle and neck, and a Schaller S6 on bridge. I like humbuckers more than single coil, but I wanted another strato copy to hang on the wall, so I could anytime reach it to play.

This guitar is a bargain, with superb quality/price relation. I would buy another one with shut eyes (not ears ;-)). I would recommend as first guitar for beginners, or two anybody that doesn't want to spend a lot of money in a strato type guitar.

Love the neck, it's possible I purchase a tele Stagg in the future.

Features : 8
Natural finish, really nice cream pearloid pick guard, very solid harware. S/S/S config. Vintage style tuners, maple neck. Overall really good value for money. Those bone heads who rate this guitar very lowly are complete time wasters. It is VERY good value for $300 and is far far far better than most of the crap coming out of south east asia or Mexico. There is not one flaw on the finish, the pickups work very well, it hold tune pretty well- SO its not an original american strat worth 10X as much- but gees guys it sure is a good guitar for the price.

Sound : 8
Buy it if you want a strat. It is as simple as that. it looks like a strat, it sounds like a strat, it plays like a strat----I like it because it does everything that you want a guitar to do. There is variety of sound across the pickups and mine does not squeel from dicky microphonic pickups. if it did I would buy a $20 set of pickups and replace them...really simple isn't it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
All I can say here is EXCELLENT. Sure everyone fiddles around with the action etc, and I am no different- but the guitar as a whole was no different to my more expensive makes. AND I had to fiddle with them as well. I had 1 slightly buzzy fret- but fixed that quick smart. No real problems at all. Finish is superb and I mean that. I can't believe how critical some people are of this guitar- I think it is worth much more than I paid.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Bullet proof. No problem. Always have a backup at a gig- god have 10 of 'em, but just remember this will stand up to live performing just like any Ibanez, Fender, Gibson etc. Change the strap locks- the same way you would for just about every other guitar- just to be safe. Hardware is rock solid and chrome and just needs a wipe to look good.

Customer Support : 10
Good Warranty- but never needed it. Anyway I do my own repairs.

Overall Rating : 9
Playing for more than most people's lifetimes on this forum.
Got about 20 guitars. Acoustics, electrics, 3 amps, dozens of pedals. High end stuff to cheaper stuff. This Stagg Strat copy is a fine instrument. It compares with my Mexican strats, and they cost $800 AUD.

So to all those pin heads who simply got a well abused second hand instrument on the cheap and have decided to bag the crap out of it on this review- next time check before you buy. I bought it new and it is still perfect after 2 years constant use. To all those even pinnier heads who bought it new and have nothing good to say here is some advice- take it back to where you bought it and tell them. JEEES. My overall rating is based on value for money and my general thought about the quality- that is why it rates as a 9.

Features : 7
Strat copy S/S/S- need I say more. Natural finish, maple neck. Vintage style tuners. Nice whitish pearloid pickguard which off sets the natural timber finish. I really like to look of this guitar and I found the finish to be excellent.

Sound : 7
The sound is what one would expect for an economical strat copy guitar. There is no doubting that it is not going to feel and sound like a USA strat, but I have to say I have played many Mexican strats and beside the tonal quality and output of the pickups, this guitar is not that bad. Some of the previous reviews really make me laugh- they are so critical of what is overall not bad value for money and a VERY good starter to intermediate guitar. The p'ups run at about 8k ohms each and can be adjusted pretty well to give a typical strat sound- so why the complaints? Sure they are not customs or Tex Mexs but whattya expect? The pots don't crackle and the 5 way defines the sound pretty well. I base my evaluation on value for money- and this is pretty damn good!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Every guitar needs to be adjusted to suit an individuals playing style and taste. This was no different. But having said that- setting up a guitar is not rocket science and every player should be able to do this. So after a 20 minute set up and restring, this played very bloody well. No fret buzz, the intonation was fine and the only real complaint I have is that the tuners are a little notchy- but not so much that it won't stay in tune. The guitar has no flaws and the finish is really very good.

Reliability/Durability : 7
It will stand up to live playing. The hardware will last. The finish will look good for years if it is looked after. You will need new strap locks (but so do most guitars). You never gig without a backup...so j'uh?

Customer Support : No Opinion
Dunno? N/A

Overall Rating : 8
Playing for years. I knew what I was buying when I purchased it and it is just what I wanted. I am a Gibson player but wanted an inexpensive strat copy for sound variation. This provides me with that variation.

I have about 15 guitars- electrics- all sorts of solids to jazz boxes, Les Pauls to PRS, acoustics 6 and 12 strings, even a steinberger cricket bat.

Sure this is a cheap strat copy which I do not have hanging on the wall, but I travel with it and find I play it constantly because it is comfortable, well made, sounds good and I won't cry if I ding it accidently. So for all the guitar snobs who simply rate this in comparison to their expensive toys, be a little more realistic and admit it is not a bad copy at a very affordable price.

it's an exact copy of a fender strat
nice guitar to learn , but after 2 years you really hade enough of this guitar. i think the guitar weight more than a normal guitar
that's all i can say about this. nothing special on the guitar.

Sound : 5
as I say , good guitar to learn playing
te sound is bad(i think) , the pickups don't absorb the sound good enough, the strings are very noisy , the frets are clumbsy
you need a good amp to cover the anoying sounds

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
pickups are rubbish , if you keep on playing with this guitar , take 'duncan' pickups, or just buy an other guitar
the look of the guitar is ok , just like a fender strat
the tuners untune fast

Reliability/Durability : 5
i played the guitar 2 years , and as I can say , the contacts of the switch and the volume are rubbish, a have repaired those things probably 10 times , de input has also a bad contact, so don't play a gig with this thing

Customer Support : 6
I don't remember the warranty. but the 'stagg' company make this guitars in massaproduction so if you guitar is in waranty and it's broke, (i think) you will get a new guitar right away from the factory.

Overall Rating : 5
i played with the guitar for 2 years and after 2 years you need something else, i played the guitar first with a 'hughes & kettner' 'matrix 100 , combo 112' see the revieuws --> amp's
I say it again , it's a good guitar to learn playing guitar , but after a while you need a new one
so if you are a beginner and you never played guitar or can't play good guitar , buy this ...

2004 Chinese made, 21 fret fat-strat copy. Not much else to say. Pretty cool satin finish.
Solid alder body and maple neck... just the same as lots of Fenders out there. I've given this the same rating as I would any American made strat.

Sound : 10
Sound? Well I have to say that for a $120 guitar I can't complain about the sound at all. I'm a pretty straight foreward rock player who uses a Laney 120 Twin and a Kustom Coupe '36. The single coils are just fine for me but I did throw in an old Seymour Duncan humbucker I had lying around... That really cut out the mind searing feedback which I got at any type of volume. This guitar has a very nice tone now which I suspect could be altered to fit anyones tastes provided they knew what pickups to use. I rate this category a 10 because for the price I can't imagine getting anything better.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Factory set up? I've never played a guitar that was set up to my tastes from the factory. I don't want to sound arrogant, but I find it hard to believe that any professional player would say they are happy with a factory set up. That's like saying you never have to adjust the driver's seat or mirrors in a new car.
There were no flaws in the finish or construction.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Yes, it's held up well on the road. Actually I find myself playing this guitar a lot more than I originally expected. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought it other than it felt pretty nice in the store. Now I almost exclusively pick up this guitar during practice or when I feel inspired to write. I'm sure that will change once I stumble onto another one though. This guitar has done well for somewhere in the neighborhood of thirty shows and countless practice and writing sessions.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Dunno.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I've played for 25 years and actually make most of my income through playing out with my band. I have one American strat, a Hamer "V" and a Fernandes retro rocket plus the Stagg we're talking about here that I play live.
I also play a Garrison acoustic and a Takamine acoustic/electric.
I think I'd probably take another look at these guitars if this one got lost or stolen.
As a side note, when I read reviews on this site I feel like I'm entering the world of ultra right wing republican nazis. When people review an instrument as inexpensive as these are, they act like they are on a holy quest to exterminate all products that are not touched by the hand of God Himself. Let's all take a deep breath, calm down and not focus so much on why these products seem to instill gigantic amounts of seething rage. Instead lets give some honest, objective reviews.

just the normal strat features. 1 volume 2 tone knobs, five way selector 3 single coil pickups nothing fancy

Sound : 2
I play all kinds of music but I like britpop most. I use a fender champion 30 and a double muff with it...still sounds like shit. Dunno what's wrong with it, it sounds like it's been found on a junkyard.I can never get the sounds I want with it.
Now my middle pickup is broken- it only sends thru the bass sounds, pretty funny now I suddenly have a bass...but I bought a guitar for gods sake

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The snares broke after a month...No problem they were crappy anyway. The neck was adjusted wrong, and the pickups were to high so the snare hit them

Reliability/Durability : 3
It certainly won't survive a single gig....I have it a little over a year and there's not much left that is not broken. The 5 switch thing fell off, the middle pickup is broke, the saddle of the a string is broken, the tremolo allmost broke, so I took it off before it could do even more hard. The only thing that survived are the strap buttons(woohoo the whole thing is broke but it can still hang over my shoulder:-/)

I've been playing for 2 years now. It's a nice first guitar but you need to buy yourself a new one after half a year if you are certain to continue playing the guitar. I was out of money so now I'm gonna buy a Fender Mexican Tele. Sounds like heaven in comparrison with this piece of shit. I wish I had bought myself an expensive guitar in the beginning I regret ever touchinh this one. 2004 Chinese manufactured Strat copy, natural finish, standard strat features. The guitar looks pretty good - the looks are probably its best feature!

Sound : 3
I play pop/blues/rock, mainly rhythm. Pickups are weak and sound dead - virtually no sustain or resonance. Practically no sound difference in any of the 5 switch positions.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
Guitar arrved badly set up - you could drive a medium sized family car between the neck and the strings. Other than that it arrived in good condition.

Reliability/Durability : 5
I guess it's so cheap it doesn't matter if it gets damaged.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 2
Normally play 80's Fender Strat, Gibson Les Paul Special, and Starfield Cabriolet Ltd semi-hollow body (a delight!) Vox ADVT30 & Line 6 Spider II amps, Korg pedals.

To be fair, I didn't buy the Stagg to use myself - we own a bar and have frequent open sessions and I bought this just to leave around if anyone wanted to jam and it wouldn't break the bank if it got beaten, knocked or dropped. However, it's now been relegated to an ornament.

The tremolo is atrocious - it's stiff and will only bend one way, towards the body. Additionally, one slight tweak on the bar and the guitar goes totally out of tune so it doesn't even meet the limited criteria for which I bought it. Even without touching the bar it doesn't last a 3 minute tune without dropping out of tune. 5-way switch is also extremely stiff and despite lots of tweaking the action remains high and awkward.

The sound is flat and dead no matter how many effects processors/amp models you put it through.

OK, so it's dirt cheap so what do you expect, however its total inability to stay in tune renders it absolutely useless. I would not recommend this guitar even to a total beginner as there is virtually no pleasure in playing it whatsoever - better off paying a tad more for a Squier or similar. I now just hang it on the wall of the bar as an ornament.

Standard Strat features really, 21 fret neck which is nice and flat with high frets which is great for bending the strings if that is your style.
S/S/S pickup config just like almost every other strat copy out there, it also has a 5 way selector switch.
A nicely finished body, which is alder wood, mine is finished in black and despite a few knocks by me still looks great.

Sound : 7
I play mostly Rock and some Metal, and although this guitar isn't the best for metal it has a very nice sound for most rock songs, the 5 way selector switch is a boon here. I suspect that it would be a fantastic blues guitar (it just has that mellow sound to it) however I don't really do Blues.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Like most guitars at this price it needed a little bit of fiddling with to get it set up properly, I noticed that the action was set vey high when I got it, though it is easy to adjust so that was no real problem, and even without my tinkering it sounded good.
As I have already stated the finish was supurb and I was quite surprised at its quality.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I have played a couple of times at my local pub with this as my main guitar, and it has held up well, and sounded good (despite the pub's horrible PA system) I am pretty confident it would stand up to almost any gig that doesn't require a lot of thrashing about the stage but that goes for any guitar really not just this one.
The strap buttons seemed fairly small but held up well for almost a year, I then lost my nerve and replaced them with locking ones to be safe. Sure it isn't a valuble guitar but I have become attached to it and wouldn't want it destroyed.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never had to contact them, so I can't say, though from what I have heard from others they have good customer service. As I have never used it though I will leave this unmarked.

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing for umpteen years now (about 7 or so) and have 3 electric guitars (inc this one) and 2 acoustic. Although this is the cheapest of my electrics, it is often the one I pick up first to practise on, prehaps that says something?
Unless I am playing metal or heavy rock I prefer this guitar over my others due to its nice sound, compared with my friends early Fender strat it is about 90% of the sound quality of that, which when you consider the price of this and of an early strat makes this look like a far better deal that it may have been otherwise.

One thing though, if you see this in an package with a cheap amp, do not buy it, I have played this guitar through a cheap amp, and for the most part it sounded far worse that it actualy is. You will be better off buying this seperatly and using the money you will have saved on putting towards a better amp (Fender frontman's are pretty good practise amps) anything over 20-25W should be good enough.

Just as a preface, this is the 1st electric guitar I have owned in 11 yrs. The last was a custom Gretsch solid body with Dimarzio HB's. Was a gigging musician During high school and college. After reading some of the reviews on this site I bought this because I am fairly handy with setup, electronics and wanted a cheap guitar to get my chops back. here we go - standard strat config - pickups: 3x single coil - controls: 1x volume + 2x tone - pu selector: 5-way - body: solid alder wood - neck: hard maple / 648mm/ 25'' 1/2 - fingerboard: rosewood / 21 frets - bridge: classic ?s? style tremolo - machine heads: diecast, chrome - colour: natural with red tortise shell pick guard... very good looking Guitar. made in china. got them to throw in a gig bag and a cord.

Sound : 8
I play mostly Classic rock/Blues, some heavier stuff, AC/DC, Ozzy, I'm not usually a big Strat fan, so it took some getting used to the thinner sounds & twang of single coils. I have been pleasantly satisfied with the sound of this guitar. I have been able to dial up nice warm round tones, or sharp and biting when needed. I can see how this guitar would sound very bad with a cheepo amp as I have really had to fiddle with amp adjustments to get good sounds. I run thru a Behringer LX112 Vampire. clean and Distorted sounds are good...some pick up noise on higher gain settings mostly neck pu. I will likely upgrade the electronics to a hb at bridge (seymour duncan Hot rails) to make this guitar a little more versitile, and to kill some of the single coil noise. My preference only... the guitar works fine with the stock pick ups. some minor fret buzz in spots (i have the action set pretty low.) but not major. note...this rating is for sound post setup. (any guitar you purchase should be looked over by a good tech). rating before any setup 3. Tuning the bridge made a HUGE difference in the sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Factory set up was ....a little off. action was very high. bridge was close but enough out of whac that you could hear it. Otherwise the finish on the body was perfect. there was one small imperfection in the fret board but just a blemish and nothing that would affect play. The pick ups were set very low. Setup of this guitar included shimming the neck and tweaking the truss rod, readjusting the saddle height and stobe tuning the bridge(setting intonation) had one saddle adjustment screw that backed out. all other hardware was tight and in working order. factory setup 2 finish and appearance 9 Factory strings are also crapola.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Have had the guitar out a few times for open jam nights and has given no problems. finish still looks brand new. play it 2-3 hrs daily. I would depend on it with out a back up (mainly cause i don't have one, never like to gig without a back up but there is generally at least one around if not my own.) strap buttons seem solid (tho $15 strap locks are a must when gigging. cheap insurance.) Seems to be solid as a rock.

Customer Support : 10
never dealt directly with the company but the guys at music go round are great. (I Also have a Stagg acoustic sw-203 purchase from them.)1 yr warranty. rating is for music store.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing (just playing years) for 9 yrs. I played quite a few "entry level" Guitars when searching for a new electric, and none had the bang for the buck of this one. I currently own a Stagg acoustic (see reviews) this S-320N Stagg electric and a Behringer LX112 Vampire. I would buy again if lost or stolen. It's not perfect but for the price a little sweat equity is OK. Can't wait to play one of Stagg's Les Paul or PRS copys. HMMM....do I see another purchase?!

made in 2004 I guess, 21 fret, S-S-S, two piece body made of wood. Looks nice, made fom wood...

Sound : 5
noisy pickups, poor shielding, good clean tone, but overdrive is a complete mess. Pickups potting, complete shielding and a normal amp is absolutely necessary.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
IMHO there was no adjustment at all. Quality is good enough for a guitar that costs 10 times lesser than a stock Strat

Everyhting else depends on a treatment. :)

Stagg worth its money, plus 30$ investment gives you a normal beginners guitar for a real low price.

It`s the cheapest Strat copy you can get.
Often it is sold in combination with some crap amplifier for about 100 Dollars ...
I replaced all parts that annoyed me, so that all that was eventually left from the orginal guitar was the body and two pickups (neck and middle).
The quality of the tuners is unbearable - hardly one song you can play without getting out of tune. The wood the neck is made of appears to be rather soft and needs readjustment for heavier strings.
It feels uncomfortably thick, maybe the steel rod within it occupies a lot of space.
The frets are properly built and filed, though.
The electric parts are of poor quality, noisy and scratchy. The volume knob had to be replaced after a few weeks already, along with a the five-way-switch (a nightmare).

Sound : 4
One usually expects a thin and trebly sound from a Strat, and that is what you get. With the original neck, it didn`t sound well, with my new, good maple neck (Jumbo frets) it is quite pleasing.
The pickups used to produce really ugly microphonic feedback at higher volume, so that I put them into wax to solve the problem.
The original humbucker at the bridge is not that bad and quite suitable for hard rock playing, but I replaced it for a double-coiled Strat-PU to make it sound like Stevie Ray Vaughan.
I really prefer this kind of Blues.
So eventually I got a good-sounding instrument which I initially didn`t have.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
The guitar was not set up properly at the factory, but which 100-Dollar-guitar is ?
I had to do all kinds of rearrangements to the string postion, the tuning of the octave, to the saddle which was cut too narrow, etc.
The electric parts are rubbish and so are the tuners.
The body is made of good quality wood, astonishingly.

Reliability/Durability : 3
It will cause a guitar player some trouble in a live situation - I think - due to the unreliable electric parts which are likely to get even worse over time.
The tuners are not capable of keeping the guitar in tune, so unless you are willing to retune after every song, forget about them.
The straps are solid and so is the finish of the body and neck wood.

Customer Support : 2
I haven`t heard of any Stagg customer support, and mayby having a Stagg guitar repaired is more expensive than buying another one ...

Overall Rating : 3
Maybe a suitable guitar for very beginners, but not for ordinary musicians.

2003 Stagg Natural Made in China 22 frets See through natural. Volume
and two tone pots. The PU configuration consists of S/S/S. All single coil typical Strat configuration. The guitar doesn't look bad,
but sounds and plays like crap!!! Body is alder. The tuners are vintage kluson types. It has a standard tremsetup. The neck is somewhat like the 50'ies reissues. The frets are quite fat. The guitar didn't come with a bag.

Sound : 3
I play rock and blues and used it as a backup guitar. I say used because I sold it. The pickups are quite noisy and don't have much definition. It produces alle te standard Strat sounds, but nothing
with much conviction.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
The guitar was fairly well setup at the factory, although it came with
bad strings they were already rusty. The pickups were not well adjusted. And the saddles needed a little adjustment too. The nut was too wide for the provided 09 set. The controls were too loose too. The PUselector was VERY noisy. I'm sorry Stagg, but this guitar did'nt show much craftmanship!

Reliability/Durability : 1
This guitar will withstand live playing IF you change the pickups and de tuners, they're very hard to tune. The finish is allright. But looks rather cheap! All controls were loose and so were the strap buttons. The quality of the wood is doubtable to say the least !!!
I would never use this as my main guitar!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Customer support: never dealt with them.
I fixed everything myself, the dealer warned me that he didn't like
Stagg Guitars and that he was discontinuing them, so I got i very cheap!

Overall Rating : 1
I play for 20 years now and I can fairly say I've played a lot of copy
strats but the Stagg is by far the worsed Strat you can get!!!I would not recommand this guitar to anyone!!! As I said before this only LOOKS like a Strat. To AVOID!!!

I didn't buy this, but the guitar shop that just opened up near my house features Stagg almost entirely. As the nicest of the Staggs they carry, I've tried it out pretty thoroughly (because I had what else to do this weekend?).

Rather nice sunburst finish over an ash body with good figurings. The neck felt about right for the price-range ($275 USD), rosewood fretboard, and it has the standard strat equippings, with a humbucker in the bridge.

Sound : 3
I play many styles, and have for many years. I demo'd this through a Stagg solid-state practice amp at the store, along with a used Fender MIC strat. For reference, I rate most stock Fender standard strats, regardless of origin, as 5-6.

This sounded tinny and cold in the store...no warm resonance from the body woods, no spunk or spank from the pickups. It could do a bluesy twang on the neck p/u, but nothing to write home about.

Brought in my BadCat amp from home, and it didn't measure up on that either. The Fender performed well, had some warmth, resonance, and personality like you'd expect from any Fender strat, but this was dead by comparison. Sucked for me, because I wanted a cheap guitar with a decent humbucker.

Alas, the humbucker didn't perform...no sassy fat-strat grind, and no white heat like the Fender Atomic h/bs put out...and certainly nothing like the sizzle of a LP or biting rage of a high-end Ibanez.

It's not just the pickups...I could get a Fender standard strat (regardless of place of manufacture), but a good humbucker on, and get good tone. But where a Fender has a warmth inherant in the woods and assembly, this had none of that.

Conclusion? Cheapo wood, and even cheaper electronics. Would not sound fat, warm, glassy, sweet, or chimey even through my $2600 amp that abounds in exactly those sonic properties. The Fender strat sounded fine.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Felt and looked fine, like you'd find on most any nice $400-700 guitar. Neck didn't have either a glossy or satin finish, but felt like somebody had watered down a satin coat, which I chalked up to the price tag. I found nothing to complain about in how it looked or felt, considering it was less than $300.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Felt solid, but no idea if it would hold up. No reson to suspect that it wouldn't.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I've been playing for 10 years, and owned many nice guitars both cheap and expensive, and played many excellent guitars. I do mainly jazz and rock, and own a Gibson Blueshawk, G&L ASAT Bluesboy solidbody tele, Ovation CS257, and a BadCat Black Cat 30R amplifier. Always on the lookout for nice, cheap beater guitars to experiment with.

There was nothing good in this guitar, compared with a stock Fender strat, or Ibanez strat copu. This can join the Peavey Predator in the Hall of Guitar Shame

2003 model, 21 frets 5-way selector, 2x tone and 1 volume, 3 single pickups. didnt come with any accesories, just a guitar in a box (my first guitar)

Sound : 9
I play old metal (AC/DC, Sabbath etc) and stuff like System of a Down and Godsmack with a Boss DS-1 and a little 10 watt Laney. Its a bit noisy on the bridge pickup, but the other two have basically no buzz, and the neck pickup sounds sweet, with a bright, twangy sound. The other two pickups sound a bit tinny when tone is up too high though. Neck pickup is very good for heavy metal. Its my first guitar so I'm not much of a judge, but my ears tell me that this baby sounds sweet!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Pickups are set perfectly, and I didn't need to change anything from the factory settings. The only problem was that it came with terrible strings.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The strap buttons are a bit small, so I'd recommend clips. Decent finish, and it sounds good live (in a school auditorium). Hardly ever needs tuning and the pegs are quite tight, so its a good stage guitar, just looks a bit plain.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed to contact Stagg, one year warranty from shop on everything except strings.

Overall Rating : 9
Excellent first guitar, I'd even say one of the best. Id still like a B.C. Rich though :-)

I bought it in 2003, so i guess thats when it was made. It has 3 single coil pickups (dunno wot make), 5 way selector switch, tremelo , 1 volume, 2 tone controls, stagg tuners. Its basically your normal strat copy that comes with bag, amp, strap, pitch pipes and all that stuff.

Sound : 8
I play heavyish rock (darkness, nirvana, chilli peppers)I use it on a Roland Cube 15 amp. Sounds a bit crap on clean, unless you play it lightly. WIth disortion, only the thickest 3 strings sound good. But I know thats just the amp cuz ive played it through a Marshall MG100DFX and it all sounds wicked through that.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The guitar is ok to play. The action is quite high compared to other guitars. I've played an Encore strat copy and the action is a lot nicer on that. However, DO NOT get one of them instead of the stagg becuase the encore is shite. The pickups are rather noisy. They buzz quite loudly when not playing the guitar. The controls are all pretty solid though.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I havent played in a gig yet. However, i would use this guitar if no other was available but id rather borrow my friends epiphone special ii. I think the guitar would survive the gig. However, i would use the tremelo for 2 reasons. 1- its crap. 2- it send the guitar out of tune. The strap has fallen off but thats nothing to do with the guitar- the strap buttons are very solid. the finish hasnt come off yet, but its got very scratched.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with the customer support. However, the shop that i got it from did give me a one year warranty with it.

Overall Rating : 10
I bought this guitar as my first electric guitar. I was extremely close to buying an Encore Strat copy but i didnt and it wasnt a decision i regretted. Its a great begginner guitar and i would definently recommend it if you havent got a big budget. BUY IT!!

I don't know when or where it was made but I bought it in 2002 so probably upto 2 years before that.
Standard Strat 21 frets 3 single coil pickups no idea what make they are.
5 way switch but I only use Bridge and Neck pickups anyway
1 Volume 2 Tone controls

Sound : 7
I like the style of this guitar I play rock and blues mostly so it suits my style. I have a Zoom 606 pedal and Peavey Transtube Studio Pro 112 (this is the best peice off kit I've bought to date but thats another story)I can get some good crunch with the distortion patches but I cant get to much without the pedal. But I can get a nice clean tone with just the Guitar and amp

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The first thing was to adjust the truss rod to straighten the neck. then I put a profile on the nut and filed out the grooves as they were very tight. I then lowered the action and raised the pickups a little. I took off the string trees (they don't do anything except get in the way when putting new strings on)finally I changed the strings from 9s to 10s

Reliability/Durability : 7
Mine has taken a couple of knocks, and withstood them. It seems quite well built. I have played it a lot and the finish is still in very good condition so it seems to stand up to wear and tear, and nothing has broken off. Tuners seem a bit weak though it loses tune quite quickly if i use the trem a lot.
I don't gig but if I did I don't think I would use it. The badge is quite naff a big red oval on the headstock

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed it

Overall Rating : 7
The price I payed was a package price, it came with a Stagg CA 10 practice amp,(which now sits in corner of the room gathering dust)a strap,(which kept coming off)gig bag (that gives no protection whatsoever)and some other useless stuff. I wouldn't recomend packages even for beginers. The Guitar is fine but the rest of the stuff wasn't worth bothering with
This is my first Guitar and I have only played this and an acustic so I can't compere them against each other.
I find it seems to play Quite well and has good resonance, everything seems quite solid and the weight is comfortable, but I think I am now outgrowing it and need to get a real Strat.

Sound : 10
I play punk/metal suits me just fine. Maybe I have an untrained ear but with my GFX-707II when playin with a real Fender USA Strat I was just as good :) Thumbs up all round. Everyone is complaining of noisy pickups.. ive not noticed it!

The threads on the trem were only partially cut so the trem was stiff for a while.
just horrible in general!

It's solid...I don't know if that's a good thing.
Although the tuner on the E string went pop nad was extremely difficult to fix, I put this down to the fact that the plastic washers were buckled when i got the guitar!
The finish on the neck is wearing off fast (only 2 months old!)

dunno when it was made, recent i'd imagine, 2002 probably. its just your below average strat copy, 21 frets, S/S/S pickup config, volume and 2 tones i think it had tho (seems rather stupid to me), then again i aint a fan of strats. passive electronics, non-locking tuners and non-locking cheapo trem system. the neck was like a rough bit of square plywood that was sellotaped into the body

Sound : 1
i play funk, metal, jazz, blues, classical, cheesy disco, anything i like the sound of really. i use a zoom tri-metal, a zoom 707II for clean effects, and zoom 707 for distortion effects (normally bypassed), all put through a boss line selector for switching between clean and distortion. also hav a crybaby before all that mess. i run it all through a peavey bandit 112 and a marshall mg120S cab. the stagg (which im sure is a kind of chilli) is just your run of the mill bad beginners guitar. the pickups are very noisy (they are single coils mind you). even when using two of the coils (which is meant to hum cancel), they just keep on buzzing. and thats on clean. not my amp, tried it through 3 amps. the sound is cheap twangy brightness basically, the guitar isnt really all that great. it doesnt stay in tune for even an entire song when i go gentle on it. i basically hate it

Action, Fit, & Finish : 2
the guy who owns it played with it a bit before i played it, so i dunno what it was like out the factory. when i played it though, it was horrible! HORRIBLE!!! in staggs favour though, the pickups were set up properly. apparently the neck of the guitar has lotsa lumps and stuff, but i didnt notice it, i was too busy complaining about the rest of it.

Reliability/Durability : 1
this guitar barely lasted a 4 minute song. the strap buttons seem solid enough, the strap stayed on through my thrashing about. i wouldnt trust it to keep my door open to be perfectly honest, but then again, im fussy.

Customer Support : No Opinion

i have been playing for about 2 and a half years. i own all the stuff listed before (the pedals, amps and cabs and all that) as well as an ESP F-200 (customised) and an Aria MAC50-Q. i have played many guitars, and i am certain that the stagg is the worst. i have played many ESPs, Gibsons, Epiphones, Westfields, Fenders, Peaveys, Vintages, everything really. i may have only been playing for 2 and a half years, but people seem to think im good, and i know a very bad intrument when i play one. please dont buy this guitar ever! for the same price, u could get a reasonable acoustic that will do you for life and acoustics are brilliant to learn on, everyone starts with them. then for your first electric, get a middle guitar, around the #300 mark from a reasonable company. AVOID STAGG!!! (they do make very good spekaer cables though)

ive been playing only 2 years on guitar im, 15 ive owned a yamaha pacifica, gibson cherry finish double cutaway, and a les paul copy,

This guitar must have been made very recnetly 2001,2002?

It has the standard 21 frets, the pickups seem to be the pickups found on affinity strats and it has one humbucker.
The Neck seems to be vranished maple gives off an affective finish
the neck seems to be a bit to fat opposed to my gibson that i own aswell at the moment, with the purchase i got a gig bag aswell

Sound : 9
My Music style is the new wave Metal music (Vines, Finch, Thursday) also punk and grunge, so it fits my style very wel especially for playing music by the Vines and Nirvana ect. the sharp sound of the strat really burst through when on clean

The amp i use is a modern 100watt peavy 112 bandit, i lobve peavy amps and find it hard not to get a bad sound however you need the post gain down to get a none feedback sort of distortion making the sound not as metal and grunge.

for play songs from green day and blink 182 to the vines and nirvana this guitar is ideal the sound is beutiful on clean and on the odd occasion so is the distorion

the guitar sounds good through a ds-1 pedal

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
everything seemed too be all in order all except for the really tight tuning keys but they will loosen with time

I brought this guitar about a year ago, it looked quite nice when i brought it apart from the gross red logo but i understand the new models have a much nicer logo.It was my first guitar and it costed about #110.

Its all standard strat style stuff just not as good i spose

Sound : 4
I play Hard rock/punk/metal etc, I think this guitar has an amazing palm muting sound using the bridge pickup, as for the neck pickup its also quite good for your solos but it lacks the kinda tone im sometimes looking for on the lower bass end, the same with the treble end too be far, so the tone is pretty naff to be honest and i have no use for the middle pickup. also the pickups have started buzzing very badly and its rather annoying to be honest.

ive found that u can just about get away with it if u use some good effects/amps like it sounds fine through my line 6 but as for my old 80 watt fender copy it seems to lose all treble end and its not the amp.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
ah , it sucked very badly out the box, the action is terrible and the neck was already slightly warped. there is fret buzz in so many places around the guitar mainly on 12th fret, many people have looked at it and tried to fix it but the problem keeps coming back so i just learned to live with it but seriously no one should have to cope with this.

next big problem. i noticed someone else had this problem with the trem. trem? non fucking existant. i broke the bar trying to get it to do anything, the bridge is so stiff and no matter what u do with it nothing seems to change it so dont think about using the trem with this.

Reliability/Durability : 10
haha this guitar rocks for this and its the only reason i think i still have it, i smash this thing into brick walls and throw it against amp head first etc, and the electronics have never stopped, ive had a few broken switches and machine heads but i guess thats whats too be expected, if u just want sumthin u can throw about and still play reasonably well this is ur guitar

Customer Support : No Opinion
who knows

ive been playing over a year now and i think its a very good starter guitar but i now own a maverick f1 and an epiphone sg which r much better but are also much more expensive.

If it was stolen or lost i would probly get one of those #75 encores just as a fuck up guitar, something u can take with u everywhere and not worry about it.

i love the bridge pickup tone and the small space between the frets just right, and the durability
i hate the buzzing, the hi action and the trem.

i suppose its a good guitar for the price but then again the encores better.

Features : 7
Bought new. Birmingham UK 2002 Ridiculously cheap - #99 approx $150
Probably Chinese manufacture - from CNC machined parts.
All standard Strat features with ceramic magnet-based pickups as expected at the price. Extremely well constructed at the price - fairly accurate body, somewhat lumpy neck of unspecified wood. Fingerboard flatter than Fender and with higher frets. Poor switch otherwise all ok. Reasonably accurate trem, ok tuners everything adjustable and lines up properly. Scratch plate and general appearance ok except some headstock contours. Nasty strings supplied - need changing.

Sound : 7
Excellent Chicago blus guitar ala Buddy Guy etc. Very spiky tone on Fender Amp with lots of bite. Excellent solo tone on fingerboard pickup, good mixed pu. tones. It is a little noisy but rectifiable. A much more aggressive tone than a standard or vintage Fender. Thoroughly useable with added shielding for hi-gain applications.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Astonishingly good for the price. Nice sunburst finish. Everything fits, it all lines up and it plays as well as something ten times the price. Flatter fingerboard and higher, well-finished frets make string-bending easy. Trem set up well, action as supplied a little high but everything adjusts. You have to understand that this is a very cheap oriental instrumant and no-where near as accurate as a genuine Fender but it's a fair copy and a completely useable guitar with no flaws that affect plyability. One thing that needs to be changed is the poor switch.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I would use this as a gigging guitar after some screening and a new switch. Obviously not built to same standards as an expensive guitar but quite fit for the purpose. A utility instrument that will do the job without having to be worried about - and it sounds fine. alternatively a first-class student instrument.

No idea as to support other than through dealer. At the price I can hardly worry and I was so impressed I bought the Telecaster model too.

Nearly 30 years a player. Amongst several guitars have a couple of "genuine" Strats. They are valuable, the Stagg is an ideal guitar to take anywhere. I chose it for the sound, which is a bit less refined than my other Strats, and for the playability and appearance which is more than acceptable. Everything seems within reasonable tolerance and, as a Strat can be easily upgraded. It is also astonishing value

Not sure which year it was made, but I bought in 1982
Features the same as a Strat
The body is made of Ash and its beautiful the transparent finish showing all the wooden grains.
Came with a 3 way selector switch where i change it to a 5 way switch - got that great in-between sound

I play Rock, Blues and Country. Pickup alittle noisy, but for clear bright biting tone, its great.

Not too bad, but frets alittle too small in my opinion. More used to those bigger frets.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Been using it since 1982 .. what do you think??

I owned an Ibanez EX350, Gibson Les Paul Custom (sold off) and Aria CS350 (sold off) .. and I can tell you, I still love this axe. I have broke the whammy arm and still using it without the trem.
I think its great for a guitar of this price for its durability and good looks.

Dunno when, or where it was made, cuz I bought it second hand.
It has the same technical features as a strat, but of bad quality.

I play a couple of styles (Blues, Jazz, and Vai stuff), and I must say... it sucks big time.
I have a vintage 100 WATT Al Stevens Amp, wich is pretty okay.
The sound sucks even more because the neck is very bad. If I play in hight tones, it skips a pickup every now and then.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
I'm not even gonna begin to speak about it.

This Imust hand to the guys, The damn thing is solid as a tank.

I've been playing for 20 years now, and Of-course I have several guitars. So I wouldn't mind if this one got stolen. It only uses space in my little studio. I guess I'll give it to some one I don't like (my mother in law or so) :o)
