this is a late 80's GM4 steinberger. this would be after gibson owned the company, that took place nov. 1987. alder body, composite neck, 24 frets, R-trem, two seymour duncan hot rails and one seymour duncan jb. 5 way selector, one volume, one treble cut(tone i guess). the official red steinberger finish.
i bought it used. who ever owned it before me didnt know what they were doing, i only can get one coil on the jb and then they royaly messed to selector... i will re-wire this.
mine did not have a trans-trem, though it is a gm4 i know most of these have a TT, i guess i have one of several that do not.
neck feels nice, DIFFERENT THAN WOOD!!! i have no problem with it.
Sound

i am using this thru a peavey special 212 II. i get two sounds out of this guitar: clean(kind of bright, very acoustic sounding), metal(boosted mids, cut lows, i am trying to get a cello violin type feel from it). it is noisy, if you keep your hands/fingers on the strings or bridge its fine. id say it has a great full sound. i love this guitar, i will put emgs on it soon 2 sa's and 1 81.

it was setup great! i tuned 2 steps down with no buzz. action is sweet. not much to complain about. although the finish is in horrible condition, and it appears that there is a crack thru the pick up cavitiy. i know a fantastic string/guitar technician so this really is not a problem.
