2003 model, made in USA. 24 fret graphite neck. Alder Strat-style body, solid bookmatched figured maple top. Controls are a 5-way pickup switch, volume, stacked tone knob (outer ring for bass boost/cut, inner for treble boost/cut) for the active electronics, and coil-tap switch. Pickups are H/S/H, EMG-85 humbuckers and EMG-SA single. Finish is a high-gloss transparent finish over clear emerald green stain on a flamed maple top. Everything else has been covered by the other guys.

Great sound from rock to heavy metal, i mainly play prog metal and neo classical, from cynic to jason becker. I play through my gt-6, in my esp i have a emg 81-85 set up and actually preffer the 89's overall sound. What you get for the price is unbelievable. Great heavy sounds and crystal clarity on the clean channel.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Unbelivable action, on previous guitars ive owned ive had trouble with the intonation but with the steinberger it came perfectly set up. The pick ups are at a nice height and the finish cant be faulted.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Ive only had the guitar for 4 weeks or so so i cant really comment on durability. The strap locks are small this is true, i use a plant wave strap with adjustable locking system. Im am certain i could rely on this guitar not to fault while giging.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Life time warranty.
havent had to use the customer service (surely thats a good thing though :))

Overall Rating : 10
Ever seeing one of my favourite bands (cynic, a prog death band) using them i was intriegued by the shape, but i guess this can be steinbergers downfall as many will dismiss them claiming all they have to offer is the unusal look, this is far from the truth, they are truly well made thoughtout instruments for $1299 (#800 for me) being made in the usa including the top of the range pick ups, i challenge anyone to find anyone to find a guitar that has the build quality of a jackson soloist for that price. I bought the guitar from music yo and it was delivered to me (in england) within 2 days!!! Now thats what i call service!. Previous guitars ive had, i have changed pick ups, tremelo systems, but with this steinberger there will be no need for that.

I have never written a review for any of my previous guitars, but i felt compelled to write one for the G7SA as it was totally unbelievable for the price and to let everyone know they will not be dissapointed if they purchase one. I would definately by anoher one if mine was lost or stolen.

Good job steinberger and remember they arnt just an odd shape they are extremely good instruments.

2003 model, made in USA. 24 fret graphite neck. Alder Strat-style body, solid bookmatched figured maple top. Controls are a 5-way pickup switch, volume, stacked tone knob (outer ring for bass boost/cut, inner for treble boost/cut) for the active electronics, and coil-tap switch. Pickups are H/S/H, EMG-85 humbuckers and EMG-SA single. Finish is a high-gloss transparent finish over clear red stain on a flamed maple top. Bridge is the Steinberger S-Trem which is one of the most stable trems I've ever used...rarely goes out of tune. The battery is accessible through a pop-up cover on the back near the control cavity....makes it very easy to change it out. The neck is on the "fat" side but I like that since thin necks cramp up my hands after a while. Came with a hardshell case, trem bar, and allen wrenches. The strap buttons are on the small side so I replaced them with Schaller strap locks.

Sound : 9
The guitar sounds great for classic rock, blues, and metal. It sounds great through my amp modelers (Line 6 PodXT and Ax2) but sounds somewhat sterile through my Marshall and an old Peavey Triumph. The coil-tap gives a nice variety of tones but is most effective with the neck pickup by itself or along with the middle one. The bridge-middle combination sounds Strat-like but could be a lot better. Even with the coil-tap, the bridge pickup overwhelms the middle. The versatility of tones is what I need since I play in a church praise team with many different styles of tunes, and I also play in a secular rock band (classic and metal). Very quiet under all pickup configurations.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action was too high for for my taste so I lowered it quite a bit and still have no fret buzz. The intonation (way off!) also needed to be adjusted. The fit & finish on the guitar is flawless. Body finish is like glass and the frets are perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The guitar is very solidly built and should handle live playing very well. I still carry a backup guitar no matter what I'm using as my main...Murphy's law!! Again, my only complaint is the strap buttons being small but that's my pet peeve with all guitars. I replace the stock buttons with strap locks on all of my guitars. Too big of an investment to take a chance.

Customer Support : 10
I've never had to deal with customer support outside of telling them how much I like the guitar. The guitar comes with a lifetime warranty. Nice to see they have faith in their products!

I've played almost 25 years. I currently own a 1981 Gibson LP Custom, a 1999 Fender Eric Clapton Signature Strat, Carvin DC-200, and a Yamaha acoustic. This guitar's quality and playability are right up there with the "big boys"! Very comfortable to wear and play. Basically, I love everything about this guitar. I compared this to a Brian Moore i9P guitar (didn't want to buy an import), and a Parker Nite Fly (too tinny sounding). I'd definitely replace it if were lost or stolen. Very cool instrument to play and look at!

2003 USA model. 24 frets. Solid top. 3 controls 1 volume, 1 tone and 1 tone booster knob with coil spitting. H-S-H EMG pickups. 2 EMG-89's and 1 EMG SA. Active pickups. Body made of Alder with a beautiful flame top with blue paint. Bridge is Steinberger S-trem with tuners at the bridge. What is really great about the Steinberger tremolo is if you break a string you can lock the bridge in place without going out of tune and continue to play. Try that with a Floyd Rose! Also, strings are a breeze to change and you can do it quickly. Fat neck with Dunlop jumbo frets. Steinberger graphite neck. Steinberger trem bar and 2 allen wrenches included. Also came with Steinberger hardshell case.

Great guitar for playing hard rock-metal(my style). Using a Crate GPX-2 amp with a DOD guitar processor and D'Addario strings. Very quiet pickups which can rock when turned up. Great variety of sounds with split coil is used. No dislikes here.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action was set up a little high for my taste. So, I lowered it just slightly and it played much easier with no fret buzz. I also had to lowered the pickups to avoid excessive noise. Guitar came to me with absolutely no damage. Course, when you pay $1600 for a guitar you should expect that.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Oh yes, this guitar can withstand live playing. Looks to be a very solid guitar. Everything should last for a very long time. Finish was flawless. Beautiful clear flame blue paint job. Strap buttons might be a little small. So, you you do alot of moving around you will definately have to be very careful as to not loose the guitar. Stap locks would probably needed. Looks to be very dependable guitar. Don't think I would have to have a backup but I might be on the safe side just in case. Never know what can happen.

Music Yo was fantastice to deal. When I originally receive the guitar it had a broken tone knob. So I e-mail them and they said send it back. I did and they immediately sent me a new one FedEx overnight! Kevin at MusicYo was my main contact and he was just great! As for a warrenty I just went to their web site and filled out a warrenty from there. Very easy. My only small-minor complaint would be I wish the guitar came with a owners manual. But, since it dosen't you have to go to MusicYo can get information from there. It's on their web site.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for about 25 years and have owned everything from USA Gibsons to USA Fenders to import guitars. I have to say this is the best sounding most comfortable guitar I have ever played. If it were lost or stolen I would definately buy another one right away. I love everything about this guitar. From the way it sounds to the way it feels and plays. Everthing about this guitar is awesome. I think I have become a big Steinberger fan. Thank you Ned!
