WARNING, do not buy any Steinberger with an Rtrem at this time unless you can locate replacement parts. My 2001 Spirit just had a string retainer jaw in bridge strip out, guitar is useless now and while Musicyo.com sells complete Rtrems they refuse to sell wear parts for them or sell parts off complete trems, out of their hands, doesn't suit their "business model", so caution. Spirits are Indonesian Steiny's, smallish wood neck but playable if action set just rite, EMG select PU's need replaced out of the box, mine is JB bridge, Hot stck single middle, Jazz at neck, solid maple body lacked resonance, routed tone chambers to 3/16 of top, glued in alder srtuts in chambers 1/4 " from top/sides of chambers for chunkn'thunk, also made a faux brass headstock to hang the axe when not in use and to eliminate errors from not seeing headstock in peripheral vision whilst playing, overall if you're pro player you'll do mods on these axes (250.00 initial takes some sting out of mods tho) actually only beef is no sale of individual wear parts but that's one big beef.

Sound : 6
see previous for suggestions on mods to get a great sound out of Spirits, stock very poor, pu's are quiet but sound very bland and generic, body lacks resonance, harsh and brght. With pu's I installed I can cover country to metal tonally no problemo, when rtrem is working it has a heavy feel but is very stable, easy tuning/string changes.Use it with JCM 2K,GT solo 45, GT solo 75, Lexicon sig 284. Pedals only for FX, Tone Bone Hot British over 45 and 284, great crunch at low volumes. Boss flanger,Super Shifter, Holy Grail, H2O, Route 66, Dano tremelo, MXR phlange, Stieny works well with 'em all.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Guitar arrived with action set for no buzzes and playable, I adjusted only for personal preference. Pu's sucked and were removed, body was painted perfectly but neck had 2 small spots where sealer was sanded thru and then shot over, but I like grey anyway, frets were nicely done and all hardware/controls were proper.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This guitar has held up well, I got it for live use, don't care if a 250. buck guitar get's fubarred or stolen, but Musicyo needs to stock rtem parts at a reasonable price, wouldn't use it at show without backup.

Customer Support : 2
Customer support for rtrem equipped Steiny's does not exist. They have no authorized repair facitlities or replacement parts for rtem axes. The most I've gotten is a routing diagram for rtrem install, but they're very friendly and polite whilst telling you to go to heck. Don't know about warranty service, they'ld probly just replace the whole guitar which would be fine if the guitar didn't need 20 hours worth of mods.

Overall Rating : 5
Been playing 30 years, own a Les Paul, Jackson DK2s,Ibanez Detroyer,Kramer Acou/elec, Epi Elect 12 string, Spector bass, 2 V's I built myself, one is basically setup like a Srat w/HB at bridge, other is set up like a Tele, own a Sears Maya bolt on LP copy, Epi bolt on dot(70'). Wish I had asked about rtrem parts B4 buying Spirit, if it were lost I wouldn't get another, like that it didn't cost much, love stable trem, hate no parts, favorite feature is it's very stable, bought for a stage thrasher, wish musicyo sold Graphite necks and replacement bodies with different tone woods and of course rtrem parts.
