I have the Road-Runner Deluxe that was made in 2002, 1/2" Figured Maple over Alder Wood Body with the Amber Stain. It has a Maple Neck w/ 22 Fret Rosewood Fingerboard, 2 Humbuckers, 3 Position Switch with Built-in Chromatic Tuner and Grover Locking Tuners.

I play mostly bluesy rock with ZZ Top, Hendrix and even some Boston thrown in for kicks. This guitar is easy to get to sound just like the album. I haven't gotten a chance to experiment as my playing is limited to these few styles.

At first I thought there was somethign wrong with the guitar because I couldn't get it to play right. It seemed the strings were very high. So I just picked up the phone and called the Luthier (Woody Stewart) and he not only answered my questions but offered to pay to have the guitar shipped back to him so he could make sure everything was OK. Actually, it was my inexperience with the clip-joint and I just needed to be more agressive with the tightening of the neck screw. With Woodys help the guitar was playing perfectly without need of adjustment before I even hung up the phone.

So far te guitar looks exactly like the day I opened the box it was shipped in. I do not play live but I do travel with the guitar. I have carried it in its travel gig bag in a car numerous times and in an airplane once. No problems. Now I babied it and made sure nothing bad would happen but it handled the ride well and the gig bag has quite a bit of padding. For serious travel you might want to see about getting a hard case of some type.

OK, if you have a problem (which is unlikely) or a question (which is likely as this guitar is very unique) all you got to do is call the builder, Woody Stewart, and he will moer than stand behind his guitar. I have only sopken to Woody twice, once to buy the guitar and once to ask about the action and both times Woody was great.

I would buy another road-runner in an instant and I would even buy the exact smae model, color, and set-up as I have now. I looked for a comparable travel guitar and there just are no other competitors who make a real strat to travel with.
It is rare now-a-days to find someone who builds anything for the fun of it and with high standards, but Woody is the real deal. Thanks again and I look forward to years of playing.

This American made guitar was made in the US. The RoadRunner boasts 22 frets and a solid alder body.
The controls are as follows:
* Three way selector
* Push/Pull Volume to control volume/activate onboard tuner
* Push/Pull Tone to control tone/coil taps.
The pickups are Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates and the electronics are passive with the exceptionof the tuner.
The body is made of alder, the neck is maple and the fretboard is rosewood. The finish has a very light flame and is a cherry burst that fades to black.
The vbody is strat style and the bridfe is a tunr-o-matic string thru body.
The tuners are Grover locking tuners.
Since the neck is removeable for travel, a custom case comes to carry hr guitar for compact travel.

I play fingerstyle jazz, but the configuration of this pickups allows this guitar to be used for a wide range of music styles. The pickups produce very clear and defined notes in a clean setting even at high volumes. It can also produce a nice crunch and distorion as well.
I use this with a Tech21 Trademark60 or a Yamaha DG-Stomp played through a PA. This guitar produces full sounds ranging from sharply clear to significantly muddy depending on preference.

The guitar is designed to have a removeable neck. The tolerances on the neck pocket are very tight to accomodate this design. The pickups were set up nicely and the top was matched properly. There are no visible flaws in this guitar.

I have been playing as long as I can remember. I also own a limited edition Godin LG-SP90, 20th Anniversary Squier Strat, a Bergundy Peavey T60, a Wechter Pathmaker, a Paduck Hybrid Soloette Travel guitar and a few other miscellaneous axes.
Woody will let you try a loaner guitar before you buy - so there are no questions that I would have asked before.
If this guitar were stolen, I would probably get another.
There is no other full sized electric travel guitar like it on the planet.

My Stewart "Road-Runner" is a standard Strat in all ways except the body is 7/8 size for traveling, with Grover locking tuners and fixed bridge. You can check the specifics on Stewart Guitars homepage (www.stewartguitars.com). The color is a wonderful Tri-Color Sunburst matched to SRV's no. 1. I believe it was delivered after the summer of '98. I have a nice hard shell tweed case for traveling and a gig bag as well. The guitar has a unique "clip joint" that allows the neck to come off very easily for transporting. The tuners keep it very close to tune. So, a minor retuning is very quick. It can be carried on an airplane and doesn't stand out as a guitar case. The neck is wonderful too - it's a flat fretboard and the action has stayed very consistent. The adjustment is right there at the base where the neck comes off. The neck is full, not too thin. It's very good for my hands.

It sounds terrific, and is perfect for me. I also have a G&L Strat and Gibson Blueshawk and the Road-Runner is my #1 Axe. I use it with a Peavey 30, with some high treble and reverb. I use most of the switch positions - but favor the first two neck positions. I typically play blues, jazz and get funky at times.

The guitar finish is flawless. The neck clips on perfectly and is very stable. There were only a few things I needed to do with the guitar,
and it took me a year or so to even notice. I made some adjustments
to the pickup heights, and had to tighten up on a couple of screws.
I was breaking the low-e (10 guage) string a lot because the Grover tuner was pinching it. As advised by Woody Steward, wrapping the string around the peg twice cured that.

I haven't had any problems with the guitar finish or playability. It is as dependable as any of my guitars.

I have been playing since 196-something. As I mentioned I have a Martin D-35, MArtin Backpacker, Gibson Blueshawk and G&L strat.
Seriously playing electric since 1997. I chose this guitar because I needed a travel "Strat" Guitar. The backpacker I had wasn't what I really wanted. I did somer research and Woody sent me a loaner to use for several months before I got this one; and it was such a kick to play and travel with. I wanted a Sunburst and really was impressed with the beauty, features and overall playability.
