This is a 2009 Telcaster with Lindy Fralins. Tele bridge pickup and a Fralin Humbucker in the neck position. 22 fret Male neck and maple finger board. Beautiful figured fingerboard...Cut from the same peice of stock that Scott used on my Stonetree Strat that he built last year. This is a one piece swamp ash body. Very light and highly resonant. Standard Tele switching. Callahan bridge with brass saddles. Finished in White with abalone body binding front and back and the neck up to the headstock. The headstock is natural finish like the neck with the vintage yellow tint. Sperzel locking tuners. Shipped in a CeaderCreek case. Very nice cases.

This guitar grabbed my attention as soon as I played it unplugged. It just has that mojo going right away. There is tone.a nice sweet, lively tone. I was amazed at this guitar in particular by the unplugged sound. I have 7 Tele's. A couple of them are really very, very, good sounding guitars. The others are all keepers but this Stonetree has got that rare tone going on. So i was pretty excited to plug it in. I told Scott that I wanted a traditional sounding Tele when he began this build.....HotDog, he did nail it! It has the spanky edge with the cutting brightness you would expect from the bridge pickup. I played the bridge pickup fo a long time before I decided I should check out the other pickup combo's. witching to the middle position was another great experince. That is a sweet mix, lots of highs but the blend of the bridge and the neck pickups here is so fat sounding with all the brightness...Tele tones for days and days. You can play with the tone controll andget a virtual miriad of tones here. The neck pickup is bluesy, deep and round. The Fralins are asfine a choice for pickups as I could have made. Based on Scotts suggestion, I am glad I went with these.
I have 5 different Sewell amplifiers that i played this Tele through and a Winfield Thomas and a 1965 Fender Super....There is no amp I own that did not produce killer Tele tones from this guitar...The Tele Slayer just freakin sets the standart for Tele tone. I have 3 Schecter Custom shop Tele's, 2 from Zion and a G&L, have had a few Fenders also, and some other makers.I love Telecasters. The Schecters are some of the very best guitars I have owned. The Zions [actually have three Zions, 2 tele and a strat] also are as fine a guitar as I have owned. The G&L is a deffinite keeper....Dudes, all I am saying after owning over a dozen really good Tele's,that this one is the guitar you always hope you might own some day. Eveything came togeather right on this giutar...It is a Telecaster through and through. While not entirely traditional with the locking tuners and the humbucker in the neck, but it is the 'stuff'. I could go out with just this guitar to any gig and smile all night long.

No flaws. Set up is always spot on with Stonetrees. Its my third Stontree and have yet to find a bitch about the guitar when I recieved it. I have had to take other guitars in for set up work and fret leveling, intonation problems, etc but not so with Scott's set up work. So I would not worry about ordering a 4th guitar from him. The finsih is flawless as well and he inlaid the Wyoming bucking horse 'Steamboat' at the 12th fret in abalone. The thing is beautiful. The binding is done with no edge to feel anywhere around the body. I ran my finger over all the binding to feel for an edge or high spot but nothing doing. Its is well done.very well done.

I had Scott install the double strap buttons on the end like a Schecter has. The hardware is as good as it gets in my opinion. i love the Callahan stiff. Have Callahan on my Stonetree Strat also. Like I said, this is my third Stonetree. The finish is always perfect. The neck pocket is tight as a drum. Never have had a problem yet with any of the three Stonetrees. One is the Strat I mentioned, this Tele and a Acoustic Jumbo maple J200 style guitar. i will have to review the other Stontree's as well soon.
No fears giging with any Stonetree....They do draw attention when I play out with them.

Dealing with Scott is a good time. Anytime you are having a guitar built for yourself is a good time. Scott just makes the whole experince afun experince. Easy to deal with. Always emails me back. Asks a qusetions and makes suggestions. You always make the choice but he is great at picking your brain and finding out what you are wanting to end up with. And then away you go on the building experince. He is a pleasure to work with. Keeps his word and has a great sense of humor. I have not had a problem yet but I would have no fear in Scott making right any thing that needed to be delt with.

I have been playing for close to 40 years now and have had my hands on some very, very good instruments in that time. It takes time to realise when you have a magical guitar in your hands. I have also come to know when you land on a builder or a product that is wonderful experince that I like to stay with them a while. That is the reason I own 5 Doug Sewell amplifiers. I know that both he and Scott Platts have far better players in their stable of customers, but I don't have anything better than A Stonetree guitar nor a Sewell amplifier, nor have I had a better guitar or amp in my time.
I would replace this guitar if that would be possible and hope I never have to. Being able to chose neck profiles, pickups, finish, woods, all of the custom built guitars is the best time ever.
I hope to get yet another guitar from Scott.
