From my understanding, the parts that make up Fat Dawg guitars come from closed down factories both abroad and in the USA. So where the parts that comprise this guitar come from is anybody's guess. However, the parts that comprise this guitar are nothing less than top of the line. The solid body is well formed and solid, balanced and it has a nice tone to it. The neck and fretboard are the real jewels of this guitar. I think the frets are medium jumbo's, well made chunks of steel. All the fretwork is incredibly clean and precise. You would expect to have to pay to get a guitar of this cheap of a price setup fo it tp really be a player, but to my surprise it came straight from the shop with a superb setup. The neck itself has the feel of a true fender 60's neck, nice, round, and playable. The tuners are 60's copies and work okay, I'm used to the grovers on my taylor, so they are a little tempramental, Fatdawg said it would not be a problem to upgrade them but I've since grown attatched. The fingerboard it rosewood and is cleanly made and plays nice and fast. The pickups are the fatdawg picksups, simple nonmae buyouts, the tone is okay, but lack depth and diversity, I'm putting in some fender Tex Mex pickups, then it will really kick. The pickups are about a 6.5 on a 1-10 scale, not that much low end, the highs are good but the mids a little weak as well. So to conlcude, this guitar is set up basically like your average strat, with vintage style tuners and a "minty" aged pickguard, totally cool!(One more note, the particular one I got doesn't have anything written on the headstock, which I kinda like, my friends pick it up saying, whats this noname junker, ahhh but then they play it and it speaks for itself, nuffsaid)

Sound : 9
I play rockbluesjazz, or basically "undeclared", but this guitar can do it all, it can handle the distortion, it plays slide like a monster, and the neck is so fast that there is no problem with the moster solo. The picks ups that are on it are versital, but not everything. But thats just me being critical, the guitar itself, i.e. body and construction, put out a fantastic tone, I would put it right about the level of almost an american strat in materials and an SRV in terms if feel.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar is set up perfectly, the pickups are wired just like a regular strat. The fretwork is once again, a work of art. It looked a little dusty and dirty but that all came of with a quick wipe, after that it was sparkely new.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar has a truely solid feel to it without feeling bulky, a quality made instrument. The hardware is plenty durable, the strap buttons are industrial strength, galvnized and thick, they ain't never gonna break. Its dependable, and I would definatly gig without a backup.

Customer Support : 10
The staff at Fatdawg are extremly knowledgable and helpfull, I bought an reworked fender champ from them too, everything I've bought from them has been everthing they've made it out to be. Unlike certain large chain music stores I deal with the same staff every time, either Fatdawg himself of his parter, or one of the two techs, but mainly Fatdawg himself. And as for the warrenty, there exists no better one anywhere, check this out, you get the guitar and you have two weeks to decide if its really for you, full value on any exhange, and they have such a big selction that they have at least on guitar to suit your needs.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 6 years now. I play out of a 70's fender champ, I also own a taylor 510e, and a washburn D24-s12, both acoustics. If there is one question I didn't ask it would be exactly where the materials came from so I could be more informative on this review, but nothing else. If it was stolen or lost I would buy another in a second. I have these two friends who have played it, one was planning on getting an SRV but is now deciding to save money and get a Fatdawg 60's reissure or their 55 reissue, and another who is intrested in the tele's that Fatdawg makes after seeing and hearing the quality of my instrument. Seriously check out the page if you're in the market for a new axe, or bass. If you have any questions feel free to email me. -Ken
