This is a Classic T with thin skin cherry finish over a mahogany body. The guitar has a big mahogany neck with locking tuners. Pickups are P90s.

I don't like the spanky sound of teles so this is my first telecaster type guitar. I got it because of the combination of P90s, mahogany and fat neck. The neck pickup is incredibly round and woody sounding, miles of chime through AC30s and EL84 amps like the Mojave Coyote. The bridge pickup is not quite what I'm after.
When I play P90s equipped guitars, I find that I use the neck pickup more than the bridge p/u. Just the opposite with Les Pauls with HBs--more time at the bridge. I should probably find a P90-size HB for the bridge position...
All in all, it is a great sounding guitar.

This is my third Suhr. Beautifully finish, setup...
I've owned many boutique guitars (Brubakers, Sadowskys etc.), but I haven't found another manufacturer that pays such careful attention to details.

It's a tele with a bolt on neck...what could possibly break? That said, it's nice to have a backup.

Even though it hasn't been stolen, I'm thinking of getting another exactly the same--or maybe talking to John about an HB for the bridge p/u. Great guitar. My vintage guitars have sat in their cases pretty much from the day I brought this one home.
They aren't cheap, though. And I hate giving out tens--I wish other raters would exercise a bit more self control in dispensing with tens. Seriously...I see tens for Epiphones, mass produced Fenders and Mex Strats...something is seriously wrong with that.

Beautiful guitar like a Fender Custom Shop, but higher quality & attention to details. Flawless finsh; fit; craftsmenship & playability. Pick ups are very good, better than stock Fender, but not up to par for a $2,200 guitar! Replaced all of them with Lindy Fralin pickups whcih sound superior.

Playing for 49 years & this is a truly fine guitar. Own a Les Paul; Gibson ES335 & a Gibson Johnny A. Since Suhr offers many options; for example neck shapes & sizes; carefully consider what is best for you before ordering as they will not change out afterwards. Would definite buy again if lost or stolen. Love the guitar, but was disappointed in the tone of the pickups after discovering the Lindy Fralins. If cost were a consedration, you could opt for a higher end Fender & install Fralin pickups, but the overall quality would not be the same as the Suhr which is superior.

Mine is a swamp ash/maple neck classic Tele style guitar. No body contours, etc. Just what a Tele should be. Finish is Trans White/Mary Kaye with a single ply black guard and classic Tele pickups.
Sound

Sounds like a Tele is supposed to, just better than 99.9% of the Fenders out there. I play it through a Clark Tweed Deluxe with occasional pedals; Jauernig Luxury Drive (on all the time with just a bit of boost), Jauernig Gristle King, CMATMODS Butah, Jauernig Tem and MXR Chorus.

Classic T with 3 pickup configuration; standard neck position single coil, Broadcaster in bridge and a V60 LP in the middle position. 5 way switch with the passive push/pull tone control. The finish is a beautiful fireburst flame with scraped binding. One piece maple neck with abalone dots/logo, Vintage 60's profile. Bridge is a Tele style vintage 3-barrel. What a stunning guitar.

I now am lucky enough to own 4 Suhr guitars; a chambered Tele HSH, Classic SSS and a Standard SSH. It has the kind of tones Suhr guitars are known for, a great bright tele chime, growl at the bridge, nice breakup using the V-60 either alone or in combination. This one has the edge in sound, not only due to the unusual pickup configuration, but really due to the push/pull tone control. I usually just leave the tone controls alone on most guitars because once you rolloff the treble, the whole sound just gets muddy or trails off. This control seems almost active; it gives you a very borad range of tones throughout the entire spectrum of rolling through the full knob turn. Each of the 5 switch positions becomes an amost uneending set of possiblities. It's effect is really felt when using a pedal; it just makes the tones even more sweet. Suhr makes the best electric guitar available today IMHO, and this one has a great unique set of characteristics that give it my top vote among several other really great guitars.

Perfect, perfect, perfect. I just look at the guitar when I am not playing it. A dealer once said to me that he couldn't understand how Suhr managed to get such incredible wood and was able to match the flamed and quilted tops so well, especially at the price. He would expect a much higher price for such quality. This guitar is beautiful and plays, well, like butter.

Been playing over 40 years. Only boy on playground listening to Beatles land at Idlewild airport (remember you old farts?)for first US tour. Started trying to play guitar that day, never stopped, never had a better friend. Quit school, bar bands for 2 years, slept in van, etc. Now, I just play for the cats, but I think I enjoy it even more in some ways (less the girls and other social activity!) but I really do put more mental energy into what and how I play. I think Suhr makes an instrument that is untouchable in quality and tone, and I include other guitars that I own or have sold including Anderson, PRS, high end Gibson and US Fenders. I am concentrating on acquiring these because they will increase in value given their quality and due to the fact that Suhr seems to be shifting to the Pro series of guitars that will most likely result in less Custom ones built, so the supply will be less and the value of these higher. I would suggest you look for a custom Suhr now.

This is a great guitar. Mine features a solid Rosewood neck with SS frets and abalone dot inlays. The neck is comfortable and fast and feels like it's broken in. The guitar has the Buzz Fieten tuning system and stays in tune even with the fulcrum tremolo. The guitar also has Sperzel locking tuners (not my favorite). The body is alder with a highly flamed maple top. It is beautiful. The pick-up configuration is HSH. It is a very versatile guitar.
Sound

This guitar is very hot, and the pick-ups really cut through a band mix. The pick-up configuration is Hum, Single, Hum which gives it alot of versatilitiy. I thought the bridge humbucker sounded a little bright for my liking, so I added a ToneStyler to the guitar so I could dail in the sound a little better, it worked. (Becuase I felt I needed to modify it, I deducted 1 point).
I play through a Marshall DSL 100 and a Fender Hot Rod Deville. The Fender amp and the Suhr guitar really sound great together.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

This action, fit, finish is the best I've ever seen on a new guitar.
When I got it, I had to make a small adjustment to the truss rod, but once that was set right, the action was really low, without any buzzing. I believe Suhr uses a Plek machine to level their frets and it shows.
My only gripe is that I constantly bump the pick-up selector switch while I'm playing. This is a problem with the "Tele" electronics confirguration for me. The switch just gets in my way. I wouldn't blame it on the design because they are trying to stay true to the orginal Fender layout (I'm deducting 1/2 point for this).
The other wierd thing is that this guitar seems to really have high string tension. It takes some getting used to. From what I heard all Suhrs are like that (I'm deducting 1/2 point for this).
I have to say, this is far and away the most comfortable guitar I've ever played. The body contours (front and back) really fit my frame prefectly.

I've played this guitar live a few times, but mostly I baby it. It is the most expensive guitar I own so I'm pretty selective about where I play it. However, it seems to be built to be played hard.
The finish looks great under stage lights (mine has a tabacco burst on a flame top that really catches the lights).

THis is a very classic looking TELE STYLE guitar. Two single coil pickups, 3 position switch with a volume and a tone knob. It has a standard style 3 barrel TELE BRIDGE. The neck has 22 SS frets. The case is a beautiful form fitted G&G. All passive electronics.

I play country music. The Suhr Classic T suits my music perfectly. I use a Mesa Boogie Lonestar Special, a Deluxe Reverb, and a Pro Reverb, mostly the Boogie. The pickups are quieter than expected. Pedalboard has Keeley BD-2, Compressor, and Katana. Anaologman Chorus Clone, a Barber SS and an Ernie Ball Volume Pedal. I use the first channel on the Boogie most of the time. The guitar's tone is much sweeter and warmer than my Fender 52 Reissue and my Anderson Hollow T. One buys this kind of guitar for simplicity, not for a huge variety of tone. It does what one would expect a guitar of this style to do, only much better. The sound is pure Tele, but is never brash.

I haven't been able to find a flaw in this guitar anywhere. This one has a 60's slim taper neck, which I liked a lot. Maple neck with a compound radius from 10-14. The neck has a very nice satin finish. The body is swamp ash, finish in classic butterscotch with a black pickguard. I recieved the guitar from Indoor Storm in Raleigh, NC and the setup was perfect for me. It does have the Buzz Feiten Tuning system which I am used to. Every thing works perfectly as you would expect from a guitar of this caliber.

I've been playing for 42 years. I also own a Tom Aderson Hollow T, a Fender 52 Reissue Tele, a Takamine NP-18 and a Gibson Custom Shop Paul Jackson Jr. The amps and pedalboard, I have aleady mentioned. I played enough guitars before buying this guitar to know this one was the one within 2 minutes of picking it up. Absolutely no regrets. I love the neck and the tone. I have been playing the Anderson Hollow T for the last 4 years, so to me this guitar was a little heavy, but it's actually light compared with solid telecasters. My favorite feature has to be the neck shape.

Alder body, Alder Top, scraped binding. Suhr chrome tele neck pickup, suhr broadcaster bridge pickup. Maple neck, rosewood board. Sperzel locking tuners. Black with "Shorty" tortoise shell pickguard. 60's C vintage standard .810 - .930 neck, 10-14 radius. 6105 SS frets (pleked). 3 way switch. It is exactly what I ordered, why would I give it less than a 10? Who orders a 6? That being said, it's a Tele, so it is as simple as it can be.

Acoustically it just resonates, you can strum an E chord and it sounds like a piano. A lot of string articulation. This thing can cut you! Extremely touch sensitive, play soft and it is sweet, play hard and it will clear your sinuses. Played through a Tone King Meteor II is just so full and clean, I don't know how it can get any better. I also use a mid 70s deluxe reverb and it sounds good, but not as good as the Tone King. I play in a blues band with the same guys for 27 years. The other guitar player is Les Paul/Deluxe Reverb guy who has always had an incredible Bloomfield like tone. Tried for years to match it, but just never sounded as good. Finally gave up and found the Tele just fit me better and made the whole band sound better with the counterpoint of the LP and Tele.
Just a well executed version of a Tele. Everything I expect to hear and feel from one.

The good thing about the tele, is it is so simple you would have to drop it on its neck to do anything to it. This is my fourth Suhr, I do have one where the jack had a contact issue, so I will take one off for that. Otherwise, there have been no problems in 4 years.

I have owned and played around 25 guitars over the past 30 years. I have been playing Tele guitars now for 5 years solid. Play out about every other weekend. Been playing in the same band for 27 years. Also have: Ruokangas (great guitar), Anderson (nicely built but just does not seem to have any personallity if you know what I mean), Fender Custom Shop (good guitar), Grosh Tele (I like it too), and my 2 other Suhr teles. This one is really special, it took over top spot from the Ruokangas.
The truth is when you get guitars of this caliber it comes down to personal preference, all of them are incredible guitars, and another player might prefer one of the other ones. But, this one is just magic!!

Suhr Classic T (2004) which is basically a vintage Tele style, with a 52' reissue vibe. She is finished in straw blonde on swamp ash with a maple 56' big V neck shape, Gotoh Kluson tuners, 6105 ss frets, Buzz Feinten tuning system ,chrome T neck and Broadcaster bridge pickups, three barrel bridge and black bakolite pick guard. It comes with a form fitting G & G black tolex case. Even though we are talking about a Tele style electric I give it a 10 for features because of John Suhr's many improvements on a primative design.

I play hard rock, blues, country. I put it through boogies, Marshalls, and even a Roland Blues Cube (60 watts 1-12".) It does classic rock quite well. Country and blues are this guitars bag though! It even makes my Blues Cube smoke in the lead channel. John's neck pu sounds almost Stratty, the middle position sounds classic with clarity, but the bridge is killer! I stay in the amp's lead channel, roll back the volume for rythem, and crank it up for leads. It has that honk in the bridge you dream about and is not shrill. It is that good! The only thing I don't like about it is putting it down!

The set up from the factory was perfect! Everything about this guitar is flawless! The tolerances are so perfect that I probablly couldn't fit a thick piece of human hair between the neck and the neck pocket. Playability is outstanding, and the fret job is superb. At a little over 7 pounds, with back and top comfort cuts, it is like driving a Ferrari!

She stays in prefect tune, has classic bridge whick is actually comfortable and doesn't tear up your picking hand, and has great intonation. The finish is thin on the neck which makes for effortless play and most important of all, the body's finish is thin as well. This allows for this guitar to breathe and resonate. These are simply fantastic guitars. I have an alder classic S style also. Rave reviews on that one as well!

John Suhr has made guitars for Clapton, Frampton, Little Stephen, and even Mark Knopfler. His career spans From Pensa - Suhr (Rudy's NYC), Fender's Custom Shop, to his present operation. I called a while back and left a question about some of his pickups on the answering machine and was called back by John himself! He deals with some big names and called me personally! I am no one special musically. However, I was to John. He is very humble, down to Earth, and genuine. He and his crew are true craftsmen and deserve all the praise they get!

I've been playing since 79' and owned at least 100 guitars. During the years I came to a money saving conclusion. "If you can take all the money you would spend on 4 or 5 guitars, and concentrate your funds on one or two really good pieces, you'll save in the long run!" Tens of thousands have changed hands (usually mine to the salesmen's.) I strongly suggest giving John Suhr a shot. They are not cheap, but thats the idea. You get what you pay for. I have owned many F#nders, yet not one resides in my home! I'm working on my 3rd Suhr now if that gives you an idea of how much I love them! Good luck, and I hope I was of some assistance.
