This is my 2nd suhr classic-got my 1st one about 7 months ago and it was so amazing,i right away ordered another one! this one is a Green candy apple over sherwood green with 1088 bridge w/steel block .2 V60lp's and an H plus humbucker that sounds like a "59 and an old JB that's wide spaced so all the strings are over the poles(great idea,John)It believe me,it makes a difference!
The neck is a C slim, with 6100 frets,14 inch radius with Brazilian rosewood board and maple back with the nut being 1.70 cause i like wider necks and john was more than happy to do this for me on both my suhr strats! the body is alder and John did some cool wiring where I can split the bucker and use it in almost any configuraton with the V-60s.the tuners are sperzels that work wonderful. The feiten tuning system works well although it took me a bit of time to get used to tuning it a bit different by ear.I have perfect pitch and it was a bit strange at first(i got one of those korg DT-7's to tune it accurately)that works really well now,i can really hear how in tune this guitar is when I play a lot of close voiced chords, but I notice i have to change strings a bit more often-i'm pretty hard on string cause my hands sweat a lot when i play and I can hear the tuning start to get a bit strange-i think this feiten system is a bit more sensitive to strings getting "played out"

I play all styles of music and grew up playing 335's and started playing strats exclusively in the late 70's.I use an OD-100 custom audio 100 watt head (that suhr designed when he worked with bradshaw electronics)with celestion 75's and vintage 30's in separate cabinets and I also have an old Peavey 50 watt classic head with really good El-84's that sounds great, but man the suhr guitar into the OD-100 is like hand in glove! BIG,FAT tone-i almost fell on my butt when I played the suhr strat thru this amp!! WOW-I also use an alesis quadraverb(yeah I know a lot of guys hate thses things including MR.Shur, but for me they work just fine for what I need) I use a DS-1 boss pedal modded by Analogman and a maxon distortion master that works well with that "live at leeds" type of tone-These suhr strats just have the right balance and they have to me anyway a true "soul" they are so alive to me-both of my suhrs sound different bit at the same time,similar-it's kinda hard to describe, until you hear one of these babies-bell like tones with BIG BALLS thats' the best way I can describe it! yes,it has that single coil noise, but I just stand a certain way and well, you guys know about that!

Both my suhrs came out of the case ready to play.the only thing i had to so on both of 'em was raise the action a bit on the treble side so I could get under the string and I let the truss rod out a bit for some relief-i don't like a slide rule stright neck-On my 1st suhr(a beautiful Daphne blue with mother of "toilet seat"color pickguard with 2 v-60 lp's)a had a problem with the allen adjust rod opening stripping after a few adjustments(The weather here in the N.E was pretty rainy and I had to adjust the neck to accomodate the weather)I talked to john and he told me to use the standard fender inset that worked really well
The finish in both suhrs was flawless and set up just about perfect-John went the "extra mile" in these areas cause he know I'm a bit anal about the setup on my guitars. The neck pocket was tight and straight and the 6100's were dressed just the way I like 'em-I've been using 6100's for about 25 years so i know and appreciate good fretwork! The necks on both my strats are not the same and are different in certain ways ,but I enjoy both necks for different reasons. One is indian rosewood and the other is brazilian-the brazilian seems to have a bit more "zing' and boy you can't hide your clams with this baby and you better play clean! i love these guitars

Reliability/Durability : 10
Well,i have had my1st suhr about 8 months and so far other than a few neck adjustments and replacing the truss rod nut,it;s been super-The 2nd one i've olny had a few weeks, but these babys are built to last and I just use these guitars on the gigs without a backup and have had no problems-I've known mr suhr since 1981 when he was in NYC and he made me 2 strats with schecter parts-one with alder/maple neck (blue)and another alder with a neck totally made of pau-ferro(cherry red) that I still use up to this day,but now I just mostly use the new suhr strats cause they sound quite a bit better than his older ones and i'm sure ill go to my grave with these babies

Customer Support : 10
LIke i said before,I've known mr suhr a long time and was really pissed off when he left NYC,but stayed in touch with him and when I heard he was finally making his own guitars,I had to get at least one and when i was ordering it ,it was like i was back at Rudy's music stop in NYC again and John making all these great suggestions to me about building the guitar and of course he was right on the money!I sent him my Pau-ferro neck and he copied it for my Daphne blue strat and it was right on!! any problems I had he was right there helping me out and sent me anything i needed free of charge to make these guitars perfect!( he sent me a new truss rod nut 3 day air and also sent me a new push- pull switch cause i didn't like the push-push) and believe me ,this guy is sooo busy and for him to do this for me-kudos !!Hey john, just don't get too big like fender or gibson-stay small-believe me people will pay for the quality you are putting out-keep it up!!

Overall Rating : 9
Now i've been playing for 35 years-since i was 11! so i know what i like and I know what sounds good and I really believe you have to be an educated player to appreciate these suhr guitars-all the subtleties(sp)in these instruments are truely amazing-you really got to know what you want in a guitar to really enjoy these guitars-now i'm one of those guys that pretty much hates anything in a music store and that's why I went this route! If this guitar were stolen,1st i'd freak, but thats'why I have 2 of 'em! but i'd still go out and get another one right away-I have to have at least 2 of these babies and maybe one of these days ,i'll purchase a carved top standard after i save some pennies! getting these guitars is like getting hooked on drugs--you just can't get enough of them! If you want tone, reliability and just a great F****** guitar,Suhr is the way to go,in my humble opinion.a small company that doesn't go to all the trade shows to drum up all kinds of numbers just to get out guitars so you can go to Tahiti vacations is my kind of company! It good to see that is not always about the money!!

John Suhr Custom Classic Strat with custom "Big C" neck shape with rosewood fretboard and 6100 frets. Sunburst finish. John's V60 single coil pickups. Non-locking tremelo with locking tuners. I saved for six months in order to custom order this guitar. Some may say that there is no perfectly made guitar. Well, John has come damn close. At least it is perfect to me.

Sound : 10
I played this Suhr through a custom made Carr amp and it is extremely ALIVE!!! Even acoustically you can feel the resonance. I also played it through a Budda Twinmaster 18 watt combo. Talk about perfect strat tone. This guitar is the shit! It is rich and full with alot of definition. I have owned many guitars (Gibsons,Fenders,PRS,etc) and this is simply the best guitar I have ever played or owned!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Big,fat custom "C" neck made as a special request. It is wonderful! It has tall, fat 6100 frets that are done to perfection. The factory set-up is great and the Fieten tuning system is really something. The sunburst finish is beautiful, reminds me of some old strats that I have seen but better.

Reliability/Durability : 10
John builds guitars that are tough and ready for anything. This is a guitar I will have for the rest of my life. I would definitely use this guitar without a backup. This is my main guitar now.

Customer Support : 10
John Suhr is one of the friendliest, nicest, and most professional people I have ever dealt with! He really takes his time talking with you in order to build you a high quality instrument. I would also like to say that Indoor Storm/Music Loft are the greatest people you could ever deal with, especially Eddie Berman. Eddie is not only friendly, he is a real professional!(and a great guitar player as well!) John Suhr and Eddie Burman are the real deal!

Overall Rating : 10
If anything were to ever happen to this guitar I would immediately get John to make me another, even if I had to take out a second mortgage. You will not find a better value or a better instrument.
