1962 Supro Coronado 2: This has a fairly large body, not unlike the shape of a 335, but with onlt 1 cutaway and no f holes. Its made of 2 black res-o-glass halves, which is basically fiberglass, that are screwed together. There is a strip of white rubber binding that goes around the body and covers the seam where the 2 pieces of the body meet. Wood neck w/ gumby headstock, 20 frets (also as zero fret) w/ block inlays. White binding going around the fretboard and headstock. Has gibson look-a-like tuners. And its got NO truss rod. Its got a tremolo with a wood bridge. Two MEAN humbucker sized single coils. 2 volume and 2 tone knobs, 3 way pickup selector. And a raised pick gaurd. Its fairly heavy too. Most people think that since theyre made of fiberglass theyre light. This is not the case. Mine weighs more than my fender american 62reissue.

Im a bluesman at heart and this guitar rocks at that. I've been playing it through a fender blues jr lately and its like heaven. The pickups are really beefy, but you dont lose the definition. You can get a fairly nice clean tone out of them, but it really shines when you add a little drive. It absolutely screams! Ive never heard a single coil like this. Perfect for those down and dirty blues. When I add my big muff pi I can sound JUST like jack white. My favorite is the neck pickup with the volume all the way up and the tone knob slightly rolled off. The bridge pickup doesnt seem to have as much output as the neck, now im not sure if thats just the way it is or if theres a loose connection or what.

For being over 45 years old, this thing plays great. I accually had to RAISE the action a little bit for my playing style (i like to be able to dig in for bends) Its very rare to find a vintage guitar with good low action, its useally high and requires adjusting. One of the biggest downfalls of these old supro/airlines is they have no trussrods. So if the neck is warped its useless. The binding on the fretboard is cracking. And the frets are starting to lift a little (very common in old guitars) but it does not affect playing. No buzzing, dead spots. Im starting to think the bridge is not original though, the string spacing on it is a little off. But all in all its very playable, unlike most of these other resoglass guitars. This baby can stay in tune too.

I have gigged with this guitar countless times and its never let me down. Although I always bring a backup, ive never had to use it. This guitar always make it through the gigs. I will eventually have to replace the binding on the neck. Right now the binding is cracked all over the neck but its staying on there. Once it starts falling off, thats when i will replace it. I'll refret it at the same time too. But over all this guitar has held up very well over the years.

Overall this guitar is great with tons of mojo. Ive been playing since before this guitar was considered vintage and have only found a handful of guitars that i really like and this is one of them. If this were lost or stolen i would cry. Then I would try to find another one.
