paid $31 off Ebay for this 1970s or 80s model 34, Japanese made nylon strung acoustic guitar,(a bargain)!
Laminated spruce top with laminated rosewood back and sides. It has a mahogony neck and a straight rosewood fretboard which is a frazzle under 2 inches at the nut (1/32nd) and supports a 25 and a half inch scale. The guitar itself is quite large, the body is 19 and an 1/4 inches long and 14 and 7/8ths wide and 4 inches thick (through) at mid body. The finish has been good and is still intact, but there are a lot of wear and tear (scuffs) marks over it, but no dings, for its' age it is not in too bad a nick, especially for the type of use that this guitar has no doubt had over the years. the tuners (machines) are original and are solidly made and work very well, (they look like a quality American made item). The bridge is your basic standard nylon strung type and is still intact with very little warping to the soundboard. It came with no accessories except a pick.

Sound : 8
My music style is all over the place these days and this guitar fits into it quite well, it is good to play and has a very low and easy action, the guitar sounds good and the bass sustains good also and the highs have a bell like sound about them, but do fall away to dull a lot quicker than an all solid construction would and obviously lacks the latters fullness, but don't get me wrong as it still sounds great and is worh a damn sight more than what I paid for it. it is quite bright in sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The factory set-up is very good and the action is unreal. All panels are properly bookmatched and the bracing is taller than normal and very fine grained spruce and is standard straight bracing (not cross bracing or fan bracing). the guitar has been put together good, as all Japanese Suzukis I have seen have been, as I always find them great to play and inspirational and always well made and they always usually sound as good as any Japanese made guitar out there.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This guitar is not too bad, I think it may of had a bit of a hard time before I got hold of it, as the back is evident it is made out of two pieces as you can feel a very minute ridge near the tail of the guitar due to shrinkage, but it is not a problem and I am sure if I refinished this guitar and rubbed it back then I think it would come up like a new pin.

Overall Rating : 10
This guitar is as good as any to play out of the 33 years I have been playing and I like playing it. If there was something I wished it had, then that would be the lack of laminates as all solid wood constuction would make it that extra bit better and if the previous owner had of known more about guitars he would of been able to tell me over the phone if it at least had a solid top or not, before I bidded on it, but oh well, you can't help bad luck. and I couldn't find any reference to it on the internet. Regardless of what it is made out of, I like this guitar, It is very easy and natural to play and would have to rate it as a top of its' class, all laminate construction nylon strung acoustic. 10 for effort and value.
