Bought on ebay as a project - missing tuners and needing TLC. Very scratched up and considered a 'campfire' guitar. High action so did a frets.com type of underlay under the fingerboard to bring the fingerboard up and make the action better. Good idea. The neck is now very fat but comfortable. Kind of weird construction I found out, but.....read the reast of the review
Everything laminated. Mahogany fingerboard, stained dark, maple laminate for back and sides. Laminate cedar top. Very light guitar, which makes it loud and it vibrates nicely.

Sounds unlike any other guitar I can find - it's jangly and nicely balanced - good bass and treble. I love the sound and couldn't replace it - not only because of the sweat equity but because of the light weight, it vibrates into my body when I play it. I haven't set it up perfectly yet, the frets buzz too much, although not severely, but I love the sound. It's on garageband.com "Caprice for Tomothy"

Action is a bit off because of my luthier hack as mentioned previously. The finish is all scratched and marked up, but the fit is perfect. Nothing off or coming undone (I did have to re-glue a loose brace, which I knew when I bought it).

Lightweight but like a tank. I think no stress went into the build so it'll last for a long time.

I've been playing for over 30 years and am particular about the guitars I play. This guitar can't be replaced because of the work I put into it. I love the jangliness; the neck; and the light weight. If it were lost, I would be very upset, cause it is unique. I would recommend the neck fix (frets.com) to anyone if they buy one cheap enough and don't mind ruining it. I love Suzuki guitars - not all as equally but this guitar is a gem. I have an Alvarez AC60s (classical)that is a completely different trype sound that is a better guitar I guess, better than anything under 1200 I have ever played except for the Fernandez); I've played a Ramirez that was excellent but 5,000; and I recently played a Fernandez that was the best guitar I have ever played, but 1,000. Thia guitar is different. I feel it in my body more. Can't explain it other than that.

back and sides appear to be ply - top may be solid, but i'm not sure - possibly spruce? Can't be sure about the age, but 70ish may be a good guess. the guitar's seen a lot of wear, but that's to be expected with the age.

tone and projection are strongest in the midrange. it's not really a bassy guitar. i've added a bone nut and saddle to give better clarity. i compared it to other new guitars, and it fits in with instruments in the $1000 range. it seems to have aged incredibly well.

finish and wood on fretboard have seen some real wear. stain on the back and sides has faded in places (under the lacquer). but the guitar plays really easily.

Not sure when it was made but I acquired it from a fellow who played it in the 70's. It came with Hansen's Popular Solos Vol. 2 and Super Blockbusters for '72! Has plywood top, mahogany back and neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and intricate inlay both around the soundhole and along the center of the headstock. Label inside says "Suzuki Guitar No. 700, Suzuki Violin Co. Ltd. Nagoya Japan". Label on back of headstock says "Made in Japan". Classical style, no electronics, nylon strings. Gloss finish, non-locking tuners, hard case with bright red interior.

I really like this guitar. I've played many, including hand-made folk guitars from Vermont and this guitar matches all with its clear bass, bright treble, and all around medium loudness. Tone is incredible...I wonder if this guitar will age as well as its sound has.

Action is near perfect, very nice not only for a guitar this age but also of its ilk. I'm rather impressed.

The company still appears to be in business, but I question their guitars' viability these days...

Not only did it cost nothing, it is an exceptional guitar in its own right. If I see another, I will probably purchase it.
