Built in Japan in the 70s, it is a Martin copy (i guess of a D35). Can't tell exactly what kind of wood, but it is high quality in every regard. A dreadnought body, D shaped neck with regular frets and nicely worked details (herringbone deco, pearl inlay roses on fretboard etc.) with a Martin-style headpiece with Grover non locking tuners. The bridge can be adjusted via 2 screws to raise and lower the action.

The sound has a very pleasent quality to it. It's Treble and Bass heavy without sounding hollow. You could get more mids punch with heavier strings (i like the sound that i get out of it with extra lights 10s, though on electric guitar i tend to heavier gauges). I personally love the sound of this guitar. I've tried lots of acoustic guitars and this is definetely top of my choices. The overall sound could also be described as 'well balanced'. In a very dense pop or rock backiung track you might want to choose something more mid-rangey. If u like the acoustic sound of Jimmy Page you will like this guitar.

Low action, straight neck! All perfect in this department.

It seems built very solid. Of course being an acoustic it needs some extra care when travelling. I wouldn't take it on the road as a live instrument because i would be afraid to damage it. Maybe an SST would be my choice for gigging....

I just bought it weeks ago and i already love it like i have had it for years. It is the best acoustic i know in my surroundings (friends, studios & fellow musicians). I am speechless about the quality that japanese guitar builder Kiso Suzuki offered for a fraction of the price of big names like Gibson, Gulid & Martin. If it was stolen i would be devastated... Finding one like that would be hard, but not impossible. though its only a matter of time until people will realise the quality of suzuki guitars and the price will rise. If you have a chance to get your hands on a 70s Suzuki don't hesitate to try it...

I bought this guitar in France.. I think 1974. It is a dreadnought usual shape, I think a copy of a Martin D35 (Suzuki logo on the neck is a copy of the Martin, at some distance they really look the same !). It has herringbone everywhere, and has something I can't found on any other guitar : the back is in three parts (like the Martin), but the center part is in a light colour flamed wood (maple ?). Back external parts and sides are very nice rosewood.
Finish is still glossy after some 29 years, but the top (fine grain, symetrical, spruce ?) has now a darker yellowish colour, as the cream plastic binding.
Tuners are very good quality Grovers. This guitar has no difficulty to stay in tune.

I like the sound more every day since... years, but I never had chance to compare side by side with a high quality guitar or any Martin, so I can't really rate it. Anyway it's superior to any cheap guitar.

I remember I had to lower the saddle when I bought it, it was an easy task as it is adjustable with two screws.
Finish is really good everywhere.

This guitar stands around my home for years, never seen a case or gigbag, and is still in very good condition. The neck is now worn on some places where I always put my fingers.. So you can check whats my favorites notes. But it has no influence on playability.

It was my first guitar, I was a newbie and a friend, who just bought a top-quality Yairi guitar, told me that this Suzuki seemed to wear a wrong price in the shop (ie. it was a big shop and they made a mistake on the reference or something). He tried it for me, and I bought it without asking more, for something like a third of its value. I'am not proud of that but, you know, I was young and had no money...
Since this glorious day I learned to play, I consider myself still a beginner, but today I understand I have a wonderful instrument.
