The 2006 Switch Aurora Stealth semi-hollow body electric.
2 zebra humbucker pick-ups. Sound great neck & bridge individually
and with 2 volume 1 tone knob they blend beautifully, and are quiet.
The hardware seems sturdier than some guitars I own. The 3 way pick-up selector works fine and feels solid. The frets are jumbo or medium jumbo and feel "right". The ebonite fretboard is shiny black, the notes jump out of this thing! Sound is not absorbed and the notes are articulate, the chords are full and warm. The Grover tuners seem to keep it in tune well.

The tone coming out of this composite guitar is excellent! The bridge pick-up honks a little on clean setting, but that's a good thing for some of us.

The guitar was ok out of the box; but not to my particular favorite adjustments. I straightened the neck, lowered the action (alot) reset the pick-up heights, changed string gauge, and was good to go. The guitar was not a "blem" that Musician's Friend sometimes sticks me with, but a very attractive instrument.

It would seem these vibracell guitars would be the toughest guitars in the world. The strap pins and hardware seem solid. If it has electronic problems, one would be in world of hurt; working through a humbucker hole to get to the problem area. There are no removeable back plates, which is a good thing if all goes well. I would gig without a back-up guitar.

I've played guitar for 40 years (on & off) this Switch guitar is a worthy addition to my collection. I don't think I can lose even if the composite attempt falls flat. It's solid, attractive, great tone,
doesn't feel "foreign". The only fault I find is the weight!!!! I can live with a 9-10 pound guitar, but it gets heavy after a couple of hours.

This is another submission from marklucasweb.com-
after having had the opportunity to play this instrument on a gig, what I would say to anyone who likes the 335-type sound is to RUN OUT AND BUY THIS!!!--I did not really comment in particular on the pickups, so I will now---they are PAF pickups designed by Trevor Wilkinson, and I think they literally 'walk all over' the Gibson PAF, and some other aftermarket names--they have less of the 'jangly' timbre that some vintage type PAF's have, in exchange for an even, warm and balanced tone with enough output to overdrive an amp--simply gorgeous sounding pickups--
the neck reminds me of an older Gibson ES175--shaved down, which really compliments this guitar--
the resonance of the guitar is extraordinary--I find myself playing at a lower volume level and getting everything I need--I really cannot say enough about this guitar---I had the same gut reaction before I became a switch endorsee, so please, whoever reads this, do not take my comments as anything other than what my ear tells me--and I would play these instruments even if I did not have the good fortune of being one of their endorsees--
I received a really nice high quality gig bag with the aurora--one of the nicer ones I've had--
A really great group of people, an up and coming company---best wishes to them----

2005 model---22 frets--3 way switch--2 trevor wilkinson designed 'switch' humbuckers--1 piece(i.e., headstock,neck and body)VIBRACELL finished in 'black firemist'--single cutaway--string thru body bridge--grover tuners--with gig bag and strap--

the AURORA is a semi-hollow 'sealed' instrument with a 2 1/4 inch wide body--similar to a carvin holdsworth 'fatboy'--however, VIBRACELL is a new material switch uses instead of wood--it's a resin meant to precisely duplicate the sound of a fine wood guitar--and they have succeeded marvelously--the combination of a chambered instrument with a 25 1/2 inch scale really reduces the 'muddiness' that can plague other 'jazz style' guitars--so the sound is big, warm, very full-bodied, even, and articulate--this is the perfect modern-sounding contemporary jazz guitar, and can cover everything from the robben ford/larry carlton vibe to the pat metheny/mick goodrick tonality--the pickups are shielded so its very quiet--I run this thru a modified Fender Hot Rod Deluxe--
