I love Switch guitars. I have several different models and the Wild IV Signature is my favorite - I have two of them. Go for the ebonite fretboard. That is one of the main reasons to have these guitars. It is super slick and fast - like glass. Sustain is superb. The tone is crystal clear and pristine, and rich and bell like. These pickups are great for all kinds of music. The neck pup is rich, deep, and warm; and the bridge is high output and screams on the gain channel. These are unknown gems and underrated. Incredible guitars for the price you can get them for. This is a performance quality instrument.

factory setup is garbage, but don't give up..its worth the time and effort to get it setup. If this thing didn't sound and look so good i would have trashed it.the nut was horribly high, sharp square and ugly.
the action was so high i couldn't even play it at first.the truss rod adjustment doesn't seem to work like it does on a wooden neck.you have to let it sit awhile between adjustments.I'm still tweaking it every other week to get to where i want it.

You can read about the specs elsewhere. I will say this, though: even though this guitar is made out of a resin-like substance, it feels like a solid, well-made guitar. The vibracell was supposedly made to mimic the dark sound of mahogany and I can attest that this was a successful endeavor on the part of Switch.
The Ebonite fingerboard (made to emulate the feel and sound of Ebony) is very smooth. It's just insanely comfortable. I guarantee that it will increase your playing speed. It did for me.
It's a solid one-piece body, not to be confused with a "set neck" (read: glued in) guitar, like an overpriced Gibson. This helps the Wild IV Sig. sustain forever. The string-thru design helps with that too.

Sounds great. I'm using a good practice amp (Drive G35). I can only imagine how it would sound on a Marshall. I've played guitars 10 times the price, and this guitar sounds just as good. You can get so many sounds out of it because of the coil taps.
The pups, in humbucker mode, are rich and deep sounding. Both have Alnico magnets. They are quality pups. They sound better than my Duncan equipped guitar. No joke.
The single coil mode is also nice, which is rare, because on most guitars, it sounds like ass. Not exactly a stratty, jangly sound, but it's still very nice. It's more like a tele.
It sounds great clean and distorted. Very versatile player.

The action was very low and there was no buzz! This guitar is just too easy to play.
I was also surprised to find that the intonation needed no adjustment and that the neck didn't require a setup.

This guitar is very durable. The finish is almost impossible to scratch. The hardware is very solid, not junk aluminum crap that comes with inexpensive guitars. The tuners are a pretty good set of Grovers.
This guitar seems like it will last forever.

Just a great guitar. If you can get passed the funky looks of it (it took me a while), then you should get it. They've just been discontinued, so good luck on E-Bay and Craigs List, I guess.

One piece neck and body. 2 humbuckers. 2 coil tap switches. Fixed bridge with adjustable saddles. Ebonite fretboard. MOP and Abalone block inlays. Grover Tuners. 22 frets. Blue Teardrop finish.
I would have given a 10 score if it came with locking tuners.

I play rock, metal, and a little blues and jazz and can get the tone I want with it. I play through a D'Addario Planet Waves Guitar Cable into a Digitech RPX400 into a Crate GT3500 stack. If your getting noise with this guitar get a better cable, don't go cheap. If your playing around flourescent lights or TV's, get a noise gate.
The neck pick up has a warm bass tone and the bridge has a good lead tone. The coil taps do a good job producing a single coil tone, but I don't use a single coil tone.
The pots could be a little stiffer to turn as an incidental finger bump will turn the knob easily

When i got the guitar the action was higher than i like. I changed strings (Ernie Ball Hybrids-personal preference), adjust the truss rod (a little too much forward bow) and lowered the saddles. The action is perfect now. I also had to adjust the intonation slightly. I also raised the hight of the bridge pup.
The finish is flawless. It has a good balance point at the front strap button.
The neck is narrower than my Ibanez RG2620 Wizard Neck and my LP copy. It plays fast. The Ebonite fretboard is slick also.

I've taken this guitar to the last 3 gigs as a back up and wound up using it more than my Ibanez. The finish is durable. I like the original strap buttons but will be putting strap locks on soon.
when you read the reviews here you see some that tell of it going out of tune.I have never had a problem with this guitar going out of tune. I think that if you wrap the strings on the pegs properly and stretch them properly you will have no tuning trouble.

I bought this as an "Open Box" clearance from Music123. With the exception of putting on my preffered strings and setting it up for how I play, I was impressed from the moment I opened the box.
The Vibracell and the Ebonite that this guitar has is indistiguishable from it's wood counterparts. It has good tone, plays fast and feels good in your hands. I may be buying another one in the near future. I'm suprised that this guitar isn't more popular with the combination of the price and the technology.

2005 made in China
22 med.jumbo(?) fretsvibracell - says it's neck thru but more likely body/neck are 1 molded peice, 1 vol. 1 tone, 3-way LP style switch w/ 2 mini switches for coil tap, HH pups, Parker fly wannabe, stringthru, grover tuners, graphite nut, 24.7 scale C-shape thin neck Company says fretboard has a 14inch radius but it feels more like a 9.5 inch like a strat with a thinner and narrower neck, nice inlays. came with nice gigbag and allen wrenches

Fits Blues, Classic and Hard Rock, and Metal well dependant on amp settings. Pickups are most likely ceramic magnet, moderate output and very quiet in humbucking, a little noise tapped. Neck pup is full and bridge has a bright somewhat trebly sound with vg pinch harmonics with tone rolled to treble. Pretty wide range ran thru a class A tube or a clean amp without effects. I have many amps and effects, mostly run it thru a VOX AD50VT using the on board amp/effect settings but also thru a Hughes/Kettner Attax 50, Epiphone Valve Jr., Behringer V-tone and 1964 Silvertone 1423. effects are several DOD, Danelctro, Boss, pedals at times, digitech RP80, Zoom 505, Behringer V-Amp. Depends on mood. Neck takes a little getting used to, plays well though and I guess it really depends on your main guitar. This one keeps tune perfectly though, some seem to have had problems. No real need to change pups and electronics seem to have a good range.

Seems well built. I've noticed the tuning drifting a bit like the one reviewer and I think it might be the graphite nut. It takes some time for the guitar to get aclimated to the enviroment, and perhaps, the strings need to be broken in a bit.

I have over 30 years playing experience and over 30 guitars, many from Music 123 closeouts! Like many guitarists, I?ve been shy about trying these Vibracells, until now.
I like to point out that the photo shows multi-colored dot fret markers when actually they?re trapezoid MOP and Abalone (much better). Go to the Switch website to view.
Here?s the pros and cons. Pros: You get a thick padded gig bag and a quality guitar strap. Two humbuckers, each with coil taps and very, very quiet! Mine came with a decent set of strings and perfectly intonated. The action was set at medium-fast which is fine by me. All I had to do was tune it up. Cosmetically, the body and finish was perfect. The guitar has a dense feel to it and really much like wood. The frets were all beautifully polished and the bound neck is also a plus. The set neck has a comfortable feel, a graphite nut, and plays comparable to much higher end axes. Access to the higher frets is a breeze and string bends stay true. No fretting out and just a minimal amount of buzzing on the low strings. Very interesting tones come out of this guitar. Good midrange, some warmth and very little brittleness. Unamplified, the guitar has a fullness and not very bright. Through a Fender amp on clean settings, it sounds very articulate with each note distinct. Through a Marshall cranking with distortion, it has good sustain and plenty of overtones. The volume control has a nice taper to it and the tone control is voiced very well. Cons: The guitar is teeny bit neck heavy which is easy compensated by the nice strap which has a thick padded shoulder section. I think the folks at Switch have done a good job at designing a quality product, although I don?t care for the name, but it is easy to remember. Overall, an excellent guitar rivaling others that cost 3-4x more, and a nice change (switch) from my standard wood axes. There?s many cool tones to be explored on this thing and I don? think anyone will be disappointed.

after 1 week I pretty much knew you get waht you pay for, Here is the problem with Swith Guitars. When I am sitting and playing I have to retune the guitar every timei pick it up! That is not the same with the 4 other guitars hanging on the same wall in the same room!!!
So I changed the stock strings (action was setup well) and the guitar sounded better,. but still could not hold a tuning long!!!
Most problem was when changing sitting positions! Some pressure in a differnt spot on the body from my arm, when I put my foot up and BAM the tuning changed!
NOT a good experience!
