I purchased this electric guitar used for $5 to use as a "travel guitar", since it is small, and easy to transport. I also like that it has a built-in speaker and headphone jack, which makes it ideal for practicing when I'm not home.

I compared the neck length and fret sizes to a standard sized electric (strat style), and they are identical.

Although the guitar isn't made from the best materials, it feels very solid, and feels like it will last for years. I wouldn't expect too much from a guitar that sells for only around $100 new.

The stock tuners (a single connected row of 6) are very cheap, but they function ok, and keep the guitar in tune. I will probably replace them with a better set.

My guitar also had a broken toggle switch, which I replaced with a $3 switch from Radio Shack.

Overall, I would say this guitar has a good set of features for use as a practice guitar. I would definitely not compare it to anything made by Fender, Ibanez, or any better guitar manufacturer.

Sound : 6
Sound from this guitar isn't half bad. It actually sounds decent when I play it through my Pandora portable effects box. There is a little excess noise, but nothing major.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The action was a little high when I first purchased the guitar. I lowered the strings at the bridge using a tiny allen wrench, and now the action is very low, and extremely easy to play. I've been playing for more than 20 years, and this guitar is one of the easiest I've ever played. I put a set of XL Dean Markley electric guitar strings on it (.09 - .38). I am not detecting any fret buzzing, so the neck appears to be pretty straight, even with the action set extremely low.

The nut came off when I changed the strings, but I glued it back with Super Glue. Hopefully it will stay on the next time I change them.

Reliability/Durability : 6
I'm not sure this guitar was designed for live play? It seems more like a practice instrument. But it feels solid. I would recommend it more as a 2nd guitar, and not as a primary instrument.

Customer Support : No Opinion
From what I've read, this guitar was distributed by the Mattel Toy company. Since I bought it used, support doesn't apply to me. I did open the back and replaced a broken toggle switch myself. Nothing too complicated inside, so home repair is always an option if you know how to use a soldering iron.

Overall Rating : 6
I've been playing over 20 years, and own several guitars. I bought this one simply to use as a travel practice guitar. If it were ever lost/stolen and I happened to see another very cheap used one, I'd buy it again. I really like the low action, and small sized body. Even though it is small, it is very playable, and has a decent sound.

I would not compare it to other guitars. It is what it is ... a good practice guitar.

Small Particle board body, cheap single coil pickup (worst I've ever seen) cheesy low watt power amp and 1/2 watt speaker, and the cheesiest version of a Strat vibrato bridge I've ever seen. 22 frets, 24" scale, and the worst tuners I've ever worked with.

Case was included. All insides full of rubbing compound...possibly carcinogenic.

Whoever left this on the curb, forgot to throw away a strap.

Sound : 1
It sounds bloody awful. Remember those little battery operated Danelectro amps? Well, this one sounds worse. I replaced the single bridge pickup with an old Bill Lawrence noiseless pickup. Nothing will help this piece of crap. Bill would likely rap my knuckles with a ruler for putting one of his pickups in this thing.

This wouldn't even make a decent beginner's guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
Terrible action...lousy pickup, awful bridge. This baby does have a two layer, hand selected, bookmatched body made of lovely particle board. Even the nicest Les Pauls or Paul Reed Smith don't offer quality like this. The tuners are for looks only. I think pieces of pencils jammed in holes would work better than the stock tuners.

Reliability/Durability : 1
This thing BEGS to be played! It's gonna have to get used to waiting. I like this guitar more than the smartass who threw this guitar away. It was headed for the landfill when it was stolen off the curb only hours before the garbage truck got to that street, and given to me for "parts."

I will fix this poor thing up though. It will play reasonably well once I get through with it. I'm surprised this doesn't have brass frets. Every other part is of such low quality, I'm surprised the frets aren't made of toothpicks.

The neck is maple or some other light colored wood, dyed or painted black.

I cannot begin to tell you how awful this thing is.

Customer Support : 1
I don't have kids. I haven't touched anything made by Mattel since the late 50's.

I'm the only one who will ever put the time into this thing to make it play reasonably well.

Overall Rating : 1
I own a dozen nice guitars and plenty of amps and effects. This POS was given to me. It isn't worth the strings I put on it. As a guitar, our dog could make better guitar tones and he doesn't even bark. I chose this guitar because someone threw it away. It deserves to get a reprieve from the landfill. I'll perk the thing up, getting it to play and feel good, and about the time I do, some kid will come along, looking for a cheap guitar to start out on. This may be an answer to some kid's prayers.

Seriously...this is the worst junker I've ever seen, and I've seen my share of Tiescos, Kays, Harmony's and other no-name Japanese junkers from the early to mid 60's. There is not a guitar coming out of China these days for less than $100 that isn't light years ahead of this thing.

Not sure where and when it was made. 21 frets. Bass steinberger strings style. Active electronics. Very light and short for a bss, considering it has no head! Very thin fretboard, incredinbly easier to play than a normal bass.

Sound : 8
Very nice, rich, full sound. It produces it very nicely, and it works well for any style.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Very nice action. Pickups are placed very well. the bridge is very thin and a nice change from the normal fatty neck of a normal bass.

Reliability/Durability : 9
It could easily withstand a live concert. Everything is very nice, and I would definitely take it to a concert without a backup. I replaced the normal strap buttons with strap locks, even though the buttons on it were unbelievably solid. Very dependable.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I dont know about this. I dont think the company exists anymore.

Overall Rating : 10
This fits my heavy metal style, considering it is a flying V.I love how the neck is thin, and there is no head. The strings are pricier, but worth it. It is better than a lot of the basses that I have tried out there. I use a Hartke cabinet, and a Peavey Head. I also have a Zoom effects pedal, and use Monster and Roadhog cables. A very nice bass overall, a 10.

My guitar was made in mid 1990s.I have no idea where it was made.My friend gave it to me because he didnt know how to play.it was missing one tuner and 2 tuner tops.it was a PIECE OF JUNK!NEVER GET ONE!It had no speaker, one string, missing a tremolo spring,it was nothing.i ended up giving it to a friend down my street.the tremolo didnt work,i tested it if it worked by having 2 tap screwdrivers on the pickup.

Sound : No Opinion
it never worked because it was missing the speaker!it makes a good tool to play baseball with though.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
It was a piece of POO! I took it off, it hit my fan, and the neck FELL OFF!!!

Reliability/Durability : 1
Why would you use this guitar anyway?

Customer Support : No Opinion
I never even knew where it was made!

Overall Rating : 1
I wouldnt buy this guitar unless someone paid me to take it off their hands.its a waste of my space and they're ruining trees building those pieces of junk.if you are enough of a moron to own one, take it apart, and build a mini amp.if u wanna waste ur time doing that go ahead.

So this looks to be made around 1996. I got it new but horribly beaten from a junky discount store. I bargained the manager down to 10 bucks on this one because it was missing the switch, the knob, the battery compartment, one of the tuners. I don't even know if it was really abused that much but it certainly was messed up. It's true. the tuners really do blow pretty hard. Everything seems to have been done with cost cutting in mind. I'm loathe to call this contraption a musical instrument.

Sound : 9
Okay, here's the weird bit. I don't know what the deal is with the guy who posted before saying that it has feedback problem, but this guitar doesn't sound all that bad. If you listen to indie rock ala Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, 764-Hero, etc. This is the sound! In fact it sounds exactly like the guitars of Modest Mouse's The Moon and Antarctica (Epic). Weird, huh? The generic asian pickup I expected turned out to be pretty high-gain but not too distorted. Give really nice, dirty clean.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Action on this guitar is horrible.

Reliability/Durability : 3
Are you kidding me? This thing was meant to brake. Sure the body is sturdy but the neck, despite the truss rod, is bent to hell and back. The tuners blow hard. The speaker grill keeps falling off.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Is Synsonics actually a company? Someone once told me they were affiliated with toy maker Mattel (of Barbie fame).

Overall Rating : 2
I'm torn here folks. For ten bucks, i think the novelty of having a speaker in my guitar is worth it. That's for ten bucks. For twelve I would have to reconsider. I'm probably gonna grab the pickup and sell the rest.

The guitar looks like a smaller version of a strat. With a built in speaker. One single coil pickup at the bridge. A strat style tremelo bridge. One volume control. An on/off switch. Gee, dis is nice. The pegs are terrible. 6 in a row. All connected together. Like on old electrics. It's black. The fretboard is imitation rosewood. Looks like it, anyway. It came w/ a whammy bar, which puts the strings out of tune w/ every use. A 10' cord. 2 allen wrenches. So nice of them to include such accessories.

Sound : 1
I like the fact that it can just feedback endlessly, mercilessly. It's sick. I sit there and pick my nose while my guitar violently screams. I flick boogers at it just to shut it up. VERY NOISY. Sometimes I can even get radio waves if I listen close. AM frequency waves. How nightmarish, to catch Rush or Dr. Laura coming thru the speaker of a very crappy guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
The guitar was set up in a Indonesia factory by someone who, used to slave labor camps they have set up over there, decided after 22 hrs of working straight that things such as intonation, adjustments, etc....... didn't matter at all. So, this is the end result. How could I have been so blind to this? Da nut keeps falling off w/ every string change. Not even Super Glue can help it.

Reliability/Durability : 1
I have better plans for this one instead of live playing. Everything is terrible, but wait, I can sense a purpose for this. This guitar has a reason to be....

Customer Support : No Opinion
Whatever...

I'm gonna run it over w/ my truck. Yes, there it goes. What I did was throw it into the street, several times, and then got into my truck and ran over it 9 times just to make sure it is destroyed. I'm bored. Now, I'll send it all, in pieces, back to the lame, cockamame company who made this.

Korean made 21 fret guitar. It had a speaker, volume, switch (to turn preamp on and off, and a second jack for head phones. It has one single coil in bridge positio. Fender style trem. I have know clue what the neck's made out of but the body is two sheets of press board. I hit it with a knife once and it looked like paper. basic strat style body but alot smaller. trashy tuners, Ireplace them with ibanez rotomatics (stupid me I used a 3+3 on a 6 in line)it came with a couple hex keys and a cord nothing else. I bought it because it had a speaker.

Sound : 9
although it's a peice of junk it has a decent sound. great through my awesome Peavy classic chorus. I play metal and guitar pop verve pipe kinda stuff but manly metal. I dont change any thing on it I was actually considering bypassing the volume.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 2
crap all crap. I spent more replacing the nut than on the guitar itself. The thing was a peice of plastic OK but a tab hadn't come off so it was leaning and the machine had cut it funny. the battery jack broke and eventually I gutted her of the practice amp. the action wasn't bad but the tuners were horible the knobs broke like crazzy.

Reliability/Durability : 8
It's a tough basterd. strap buttons are horrible but who cares she falls she falls. Maybe if it breaks dad'll take pity on me and take me shopping for somthing of quality. I don't often gig but when I do I don't use a back up. The electronics used to give out all the time but i fixed that

Overall Rating : 1
I've been playin for almost 3 years I've got some other good gear right now I'm saing for a real guitar. I got bored of the standerd shape so I cut the lower horn of it it's fully punkified with stickers and everytrhing. now don't get me wrong I'm not an air headed punk teenager I care about tone in fact I'm considering using the pickup onit to make my own guitar.but this thing has ticked me off so much i'm lusting for the day I can strip it and the smash the recycled paper body to kindling (manly cause then I'll have a good guitar)
