When i bought this as my first guitar i didnt know much about tone and features of a guitar and a year and a half has passed since then and i still think the same about the guitar it has great looks (the cherry sunburst one anyway) and when you connect it to a boss ME-50 it sounds like heaven the neck feels great quite slim but not too slim, the plastic is abit offputting but looks great the tuner nobs i got gold plated hardware and they look great on the guitar. And with this guitar i have gone up to grade 6 in one year.

Sound : 8
the pickups are great for what i play (muse, Queen, the darkness) the tone is quite sharp on what i have it which is what i like but if i wanted to i could change the tone dramiticaly with just a few turns

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The action and fit are great the finish is abit stiff if you get what i mean but i still like it. i had to replace the selector switch but that was done well and isnt as noisy as before

Reliability/Durability : 9
the guitar i have used many occasions live with my band and playing solo which it has even impressed me. the hardware has started to go abit grey but i dont mind, The finish on the neck is great i play about 4-5 hours a day which is a hell of alot and the neck is sitll perfect

Customer Support : 7
I never delt with tanglewood but i have had it fixed twice and it was quick easy reliable and i got a 2 year warrenty on it

Overall Rating : 9
Ive been playing solidly for a year now and as i said before gone up 6 grades with it, i only have this guitar and two acoustics and i have a small watson LG-10 practise amp and a Boss ME-50 multi-fx pedal which is great. If it was stolen or lost i would definatly go out and buy another one. My favorite feature of the guitar is the neck great playability and dosnt wear down. When i bought it i had a choice of this or a tanglewood strat but i hate strats so this won the overall vote with me and i dont regret buying it. just a tremelo arm would have been a really cool original feature but its odd to find on a les paul copy. Great value for money!

The guitar is not painted, it is covered in a thick plastic coating, even the neck is plastic coated. Thick neck, slow action. There is no point in me writing about it's good points, frankly, it has non.

Sound : 3
This is a "white" Tanglewood Les Paul copy. I bought it because I used to have a L P copy 30 odd years ago that was very good, and I was foolish to believe that this Tanglewood would be a good sounding guitar. I have run this guitar through 5 or 6 different amps and the sound quality that I get from it is no better than what I would get from a ?50 UKP Starter guitar from a chain-store shop.

The sound is a muddy dirty sound. The thin E string is low on volume, only half as loud as the the B string, this makes it very difficult to play any lead on that string. The tone pots have a very narrow tone range, bass and muddy at every position unless at full treble, and even then it is lacking on treble tones.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
Action is too high at the nut and this puts it out of tune when fretting a note on the first fret. The bridge intonation settings were nowhere close to being right, I had to set it up to get it right.
The neck of this guitar is way too thick, it is thicker than any other LP copy. The whole of the guitar including the neck is coated with a white plastic coating (not painted), this plastic coating adds a further .5mm to the already thick neck. It feels like a cricket bat when you play it. The plastic coating on the neck causes your hand to stick when your hand sweats. It is horrible to play. I am amazed that Tanglewood have been so stupid to put their name to this very rubbish guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 3
The guitar is not painted, it is covered in a thick plastic coating, even the neck is plastic coated. I will not be using this at a gig, it's not even fit to use at home.
It seams to be built strong enough, but that is irrelevant anyway because it would be no loss if it fell apart tomorrow.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea.

Overall Rating : 3
I have been playing on and off for 34 years. I own 12 other guitars and 9 amps. If it were stolen or lost it would be a good thing to happen to it. I can't believe all the other glowing reviews that some other guys have wrote about the Tanglewood LP copy, I can only think that don't know so much about guitars.

I've got the cherry wood version and it looks quite attractive. My tuner pegs are chrome so not all versions have the horrible green ones.

Sound : 8
I was really pleased with the way it sounded. It's nice and meaty but it has no problems doing a clean sound. It's fantastic for playing things like Queens of the stoneage and Guns N' Roses. I wouldn't really recommend this for metal fans, the tone is just too rich. The stock pickups sound fine, I'm quite happy with them as they sound meaty but if you wanted a more darker tone you'd probably be advised to change them.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Well the finish is quite nice. You can tell it's been factory made if you start looking for flaws but it still looks nice. Unfortunately i've got fret buzz on the E and A strings but that should be easy to fix hopefully.

Reliability/Durability : 8
It's very heavy so do bear that in mind! I'm sure it'll keep giong for a good few years.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
This guitar is pretty neat and for eighty quid I certainly can't grumble. It has a very unique sound similar to the lp. I'm glad I chose this over the epiphone, I prefer the tone too.

Well this was my first guitar and the first 6 months it was good. Because I didnt know any different. In reality its a cheap korean made, very poor beginners guitar. It was the same setup as a real les paul until I ripped it apart, rewired it to (2 volume, 1 tone, moved 3 way switch at the bottom where a tone knob was), put a mirrorball finish on it (funky!). Replaced the horrible sounding pickups with EMG selects. Filed the frets and replaced the machine heads.

Sound : 7
Well it was really crap but now witht the glass mirrorball front and EMG select pickups it sounds very smooth or jazzy but with morse sustain that you can shake a leg at. It now sustains more than any other guitar I have ever heard.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Its much better now its all been replaced and rebuilt.

Reliability/Durability : 6
Its been well gigged with an still top notch but I would not use it alone. I would always have a spare with this one.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Its a tanglewood. LOL!

Overall Rating : 7
At it was originally I will probably give it maybe 2 out of 10. But the way it is now it easilly gets 6-7 out of ten.

My Tanglewood les paul has 22 frets, Humbucker pickups, 2 volume 2 tone controls, 3 way selector and bogey green machine heads. It also has a tune-o-matic bridge and is a solid top.

Sound : 9
I like playing many different styles of guitar, for rock such as guns n roses this guitar sounds great and is good for Rock lead. I play a LOT of metallica and i have the same amp settings as them and this almost sounds like there guitars but obviously they have better Pickups. When i play blues and clean guitar it sounds good even though i have reverb and chorus on a lot. Overall this guitar sounds good. Has a very good sustaine for playing Parissiene walkways

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This guitar was brought brand new from the shop and i didnt have any problems with it. When i changed strings i kept using diferent sizes and i kept getting dead frets so i had to raise the strings. compared to my other guitar this one is silent you can have it full volume and amp turned on and it wont make a noise even if you take your hands off it but eventually feedback kicks in.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I dont play in a band but i play guitar a lot mostly 2-3 hours a day and this still sounds great. Ive been playing 2 and 1/2 years and my freinds who play this guitar dont like it but i think its great and is very good for playing lead i find. I have one little dent where wood has come off at the back but it takes knocks and bangs and still is solid. I would use this at a gig without a backup. ive had it about 7 months and the gold hardware is starting to ware like any other guitar. the strap never falls off and the volume controls all are fine and the pickup selector is fine too.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never needed any

Overall Rating : 9
ive been playing for 2.5 years and have advanced a lot with my first guitar i learnt a lot but soon as i bought this one playing is much easier and i have learnt very well with this guitar. If it was stolen i would buy another one i would never buy an epiphone one the only other les paul id buy would be a gibson one. I like the sound of it i suppose everyone has there own sound but mine sounds great. i have played other guitars and not found many better than this only a gibson les paul. i wish it had a whammy bar and a floyd rose but i wouls spoil the whole les paul "look" thats a whole other different guitar. If your gonna buy a les paul buy a tanglewood one or a gibson, obviouslt the gibson is better but the tanglewood is good too.

Made in Korea! It has a laminated cherry sunburst top, looks beautiful with gold coloured hardware. It exactly replicates a gibson les paul if it were not for the crappy tanglewood logo. Has 22 medium frets, and a 24" scale length to make string bends really easy. It has 4 dials, a volume and tone for each pickup. The configuration is H/H. Unfortunately the stock pickups are generic. The entire guitar body is mahogany with a set neck to produce (for me) at least 18 seconds of sustain and a gibson like unplugged tone. I think the fingerboard is rosewood. The bridge is obviously a tune-o-matic, which makes it easy to change strings/intonate and looks good. The tuners are typical bogey coloured green as with the gibsons. Personally I don't like that colour. As with all les pauls, the G goes out of tune easily. The tuners are basically nothing special. The neck is rounded and really smooth. There were no included accessories apart from a cheap cable.

Sound : 7
My opinion may seem a little biased, since when I bought it I immediately replaced the bridge HB with a legendary PAF HB. I also used a marshall AVT150 combo half stack and external valve pre-amp. Obviously this means that the guitar sounds brilliant, resembling my sloppy Jimmy Page style of playing. The original neck pickup is still on. This is nothing special. It is weak and sounds fuzzed and artificial. If it had a little more brightness and tone it would be perfect for blues, but it just falls short in my opinion. When I tried the stock bridge HB in the shop before removing it, I thought it sounded just like an Epiphone Les Paul pickup, and to match the quiality for a guitar that is #100 cheaper than licensed epiphones is astounding! I love the unplugged sustain and tone with the guitar. The sound quality improves with de-tuning but the pickups arent powerful like EMGs, so shredders and metallers needn't bother with this guitar. This les paul was made for rock n roll, blues, rhythm playing, but the sound a bit weak for playing lead. Best use as a spare instrument. I reccomend you do what I did and get better pickups!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The whole set up was fine, however the neck pickup is much quieter than the bridge, so adjustments need to be made with pickup height. The action was fine, it was intoned and in tune. The finish was perfect. However the pickguard is creaky and can move about. Another con is that there were DEAD FRETS at the 19th on the lower strings. To get rid of this I had to raise the action (an easy task) although it was really the truss rod that should have been adjusted, but it still fixed the problem. There was a little fret buzz on the lower strings, but that soon disappeared after playing for a while.

Reliability/Durability : 10
If I smashed this guitar over someones head it would break the person without sustaining even a dent to itself. The strength and sturdiness shows, due to the weight of it, that can dislocate your shoulders if you stand up with it for too long. The guitar will withstand live playing with ease, but WILL YOU? It is very heavy, though not nearly as heavy as those Gibson les pauls. Since mine is still new, the hardware hasnt showed signs of rust or oxidation yet. The finish is good, and the pickguard prevents me from wearing off any of the finish with my pick. The strap buttons are strong but small, you need to enlarge them yourself just to feel more secure, I feel as though the guitar may fall off sometimes.
I have caused damage to this guitar before. Once I snapped the pickup selector off when dropping it, and got it replaced for #10. A tone control became loose, but it was easy to repair myself.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Havent experienced problems with it yet. However I would imagine that tanglewood wouldnt offer good customer support for electrics, as they mainly deal in acoustics. Don't worry about this, as the guitar is strong and well built and I cannot imagine any kind of fault occuring.

Overall Rating : 10
I have played for 2 1/2 years, but have progressed to an intermediate level. I am constantly buying new equipment. My other guitar is a copy of a yamaha pacifica! Recently it has begun to show signs of age and wear after a reliable life as my only guitar. Now the pacifica is a backup guitar, and my les paul is a main guitar. I am saving up for a budget range ibanez as backup for the future. If you take time out to set up and refit pickups onto the tanglewood les paul, you will be happy. Considering it was so cheap, this guitar was well worth the money. Before I shut up I must issue a word of warning NOT TO BUY LES PAULS MADE BY VINTAGE, AXL, GOULD OR THE EPIPHONE LP100. They are only marginally cheaper, but are poorly set up, and always appear to be falling to bits. The tanglewood les paul is undoubtedly the very best under #300 les paul on the market, and it is worthy of recognition.

Well it was original but now it has a disco ball finish, 2 EMG Select humbuckers, 2 volume, 1 tone and the 3 way selector is now where the missing tone knob should be. It was crap but now its better. Its the first guitar Ive ever owned. Ive been plaing nearly 6 years and this thing was crap but its got my trademark opn it now and has sentimental value.

Sound : 5
With the mirror glass finish I get infinate sustain and the EMG selects arent bad mid output pickups. Stil kinda crap though

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
I had to file the frets and set it all up myself so its playable. It would have got a 1 but it gets a bit more now.

Reliability/Durability : 1
I trust it as far as I can throw it and with the mirror finish its weighs like 15 lbs.

Never needed them.

Well it is crap and no longe original at all but its got my sentimental value!!!

This Tanglewood Les Paul copy is probably made in vietnam :-) Well that doesn't mean it's a crap. It has two unknown humbuckers, two volume and tone controls, 3 way switch, chrome hardaware and solid top. Probably it has heavy body but don't what the wood is. Finish is transparent cherry red. Rosewood fretboard.

Sound : 9
This one sounds nice, very nice for Blues, rock and almost anything. It's possible to get anything from very dark sound to very bright one. It has a good long sustain and that makes it sound very nice. The humbuckers gives out very strong signal. So overall it has a rich sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
This one was very well set the action is extremely low the fretboard is fast as well as the neck. This guitar is very easy to play. The finnish is very good compared to the price and it looks beatiful. Tuners could be better. The only big problem was the pickup selector, I had to fix it myself because I bought this one without any warranty. Very satisfied oveall.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Haven't use this guitar long enough to judge this one but it looks and feels very solid one. I think it's guite realiable and durable too.

Customer Support : No Opinion
What is that :-) ? Don't where it is...

Overall Rating : 9
I'm a beginner in electric guitars but have played unplugged couple of years. This was a bargain price and they sold out big number of guitars that day very cheap price and I think I was lucky one to get this one. If this one were stolen hmmm... I would be sad because it's not possible to get better in this price. I have compared this to much much expensive guitars and every time I have noticed that this one feels better. Perfect one for beginner.

It's a 22 fret les paul with all you'd expect, 2 tone 2 volume controls, 3 way selector swith. It's in a great glossy black finish with an antique white edging, the hardware is chrome. It looks like a guitar for twice the price

Sound : 9
Having been used to playing a westfield strat, i was amazed at the sound that i could achieve. I usually play heavy rock but is also great for when i want to indulge in a bit of blues. I use it with a Leem 10W amp, which i plan to upgrade, but still sounds really good. Effects wise, i use only a Jim Dunlop Cry Baby.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
When i got the guitar i was suprised how well it was set up, the action was very low which is great for flying around the fretboard but you do get the occasional bit of fret buzz. The finish of the guitar was second to none, there were no blemishes in the black finish, and i intend to keep it that way!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've not gigged this guitar yet, but i've played it for many hours and am confident that i could use it at a gig without any trouble, a backup is always needed though in case a string snaps (none have yet though).

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've not had any reason to deal with them yet.

Overall Rating : 10
It is a great guitar which i play to keep for a long time. If it was lost or stolen i think i would buy a new one becuase it represents such good value for money. It beats the westfield strat hands down!!
