This is a 2003 custom design guitar with gold Taylor tuning keys and gloss top/back/side finish. It also comes with the new Expression System pickup. The koa back and sides is beautifully light colored and the spruce top is nicely grained.

Sound : 10
The sound is awesome. It's probably the best sounding of the five Taylor guitars that I've owned (Baby, 512, 314ce, 414ce). The bass is nice and strong compared to a mohagany guitar and the mids and highs are perfectly blended. The sustain is excellent. I've played many other Taylors and this guitar is my choice.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action on this guitar is excellent. From the top to the bottom of the neck action is great. I did notice a slight buzz on the low E string, but a slight neck adjustment fixed that up. The grand auditorium is a perfect size, smaller body than a dreadnought, but wthout losing much volume.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Taylor guitars are built well and this guitar is solid. I use it in a church band and it does well.

Customer Support : 10
Excellent. The techs were very helpfull in providing intructions when I needed help in adjusting theaction on my neck. They seemed very knowledgeable about my guitar.

Overall Rating : 10
I would definately buy another like this. If anything, I'd probably upgrade to the higher ends next time.

2000 brand new out of the shop. solid Koa, the other stuff as mentioned before. Love the SKB case as you can't just plonk the guitar in there, the case fits so well you have to gently press the guitar into the case.Ususal basic features on preamps. All great quality, even in the tuners ( a place whre other manufacturers can try and skimp), but nothing extra. Taylor do specialise in good no nonsense quality stuff

Sound : 9
Sounds great. If you play real hard the sound does become a little muddy and unclear, but apart from that its fantastic. the pickup is great through a PA, very natural sounding. Great balance of highs and lows, top and bottom. Well rounded sound I would say. Great live in a small rooom. Great through a PA. Fantastic if you play with another acoustic player as the sound is distinctive, and yet it blends in, creating a natural compliment. Never any problem with anything

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Perfecet set up didn't have to mess with it, no flaws, no problems, everything workes effortlessly

Reliability/Durability : 10
Great

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to use it

Overall Rating : 10
playing 15 years, would buy it again in an instant. better than Martins, Takamines or just about any other guitar I've seen or heard, apart from other higher end Taylors. ( no kidding I'm serious)Great value for the quality, sound, and finish

I think all of you know all ready from previous posts but just let me add the information that came with the guitar was invaluable. It came with three helpful pamplets that talked about a humidifer, how to adjust the trus rod and restringing it. Not too much use for long time players.

Sound : 9
Very bright but the A string did not sound too full when using an amp but for now I will blame my ignorance with the amp settings. A sound hole cover is a must with out an accoustic amp or you will get alot of feedback.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Very nice action it was used but the previous woner took very good care of it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
A couple of the tuners were loose and needed tightening but I got it used so it problally did not come the factory that way. I thought the stings were buzzing until I found out it was the one of the loose tuners. Kind of scary buying a guitar with no warranty (it was used)but not needed so far.

Customer Support : 10
Called Taylor and left message for advise on a new 314ce or used 314kce and called back a few minuets later. This is why Taylor is the best. He probally should have taked me into buying a new one to put money in his pocket but he was honest and said for the good price of the used KCE if it were him that is what he would get. WOW! Mr Bob Taylor has earned himself a life long player because of the honesty of his workers. I find it very difficult to give 10's but not in this field.

Overall Rating : 9
Fender Super Reverb with a feedback buster sound hole cover. Sounds great with my Kce.

Made in California... Taylor plant.
Fishman Prefix pickup....
KOA Wood back and sides, solid spruce top.

Sound : 10
Wow. I think the rock-solid Koa sides and back help this thing project. It's as loud and resonate as a dreadnaught, even though it has a smaller body, and a cutaway to boot. It sings and resonates like no guitar that I've ever owned.

Listen, I tried to get away from getting a Taylor, thinking Taylor and Martin owners had a bad case of headstock envy. I have owned just about everything trying to get that sound... Seagull, Takamine, Guild, Alvarez, Tacoma (the Tacoma did pretty good!). But I came to realize WHY everyone here in Harmony Central says "I got this $400 guitar and it sounds every bit a good as a Taylor (or Martin)".... the fact is there's probably no alternative to getting a good sound than getting a hand made guitar made with the best possible materials. Which Taylor does.

Every string well balanced. Great pickup system. Huge, ugly control/EQ box in the side of this thing is a bit of a downer.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Perfectly set up.
No flaws.

I heard that Taylor burns their "seconds".

Reliability/Durability : 10
Played it every week (worship team at church) for a couple of months. Got tons of comments on the different sound (was using a Takamine EF325SRC.. top of the line).

Customer Support : No Opinion
No need for customer support as yet.

Overall Rating : 10
I am not a professional, but I have been playing for about 32 years. I've owned a lot of guitars, and this is by far the best. If stolen, I would try and find another just like it. I wish the EQ controls weren't so big and bulky, somewhat detracts from the beauty of the woods used in this instrument.

This limited edition Taylor was made in 2000 in the USA. It has a solid sitka spruce top, hawaian koa back and sides, ebony finderboard and bridge, mahogany neck, rosewood headstock plate, gloss finish on top, and satin on the rest, chrome grover tuners, a fishman prefix system, and came with elixer strings, and a custom hardshell SKB case.

Sound : 9
The guitar is perfect for my style - I like to be able to finder pick a lot and the small body is made up for by the koa. While it is crisp, it also resonates beautifully. For flat-picking it is amazing, it just is so full, but not too full where the minor details get drowned out. It has great mid-range and beautiful highs. The low end is a little bit lacking, but I am not complaining.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Perfect action, and the thin neck, and ebony fingerboard help it to play like butter, it is so fast and light. The construction seems flawless and the wood quality is way above par. It holds a tuning fairly well also, which is nice.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Thus far, the guitar is still perfect and I cannot imagine that changing unless I start abusing it (doubtful).

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have not yet dealt with Taylor, and I hope to never have to. But, if I do they had better be nice for what I paid, and for their reputations sake.

Overall Rating : 10
Very, very nice. Would not trade it for the world.

I LOVE THE SOUND ON MY GUITAR! IT HAS THE PERFECT BALANCE BETWEEN HIGHS AND LOWS. ITS GOT A GREAT MIDRANGE PUNCH BECUASE OF ITS GRAD AUDITORUIM BODY. THE PICKUP CAN GET A BIT OF FEEDBACK IF YOU ARE PLAYING IN A BAND, BUT IS PERFECT FOR PLAYING AT CHURCH AND WHAT NOT.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
I LOVE THIS ACTION. THE INTONATION AND ACTION IS WHAT MAKES A TAYLOR A TAYLOR. ITS GREAT FOR BARRE CHORDS. SMOOTHEST I HAVE PLAYED EVER.

Reliability/Durability : 10
AWESOME! ITS HELD UP GREAT. CEPT' FOR A FEW NICKS HERE AND THERE THIS GUITAR ROCKS. ITS GOT A GLOSSY TOP, WHICH LOOKS GREAT(WITHOUT FINGERPRINTS)

Overall Rating : 10
I HAVE BEEN PLAYING FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS. I AM 15, SO I HAD TO WORK MY BUTT OFF TO GET ENUF MONEY TO PAY FOR THIS GUITAR. I WOULDNT HAVE CHOSEN ANYTHING ELSE. THIS GUITAR SOUNDS BETTER THAN A LOT OF $5,000 MARTINS! IF YOU CAN GET YOUR HANDS ON THIS GUITAR(THEY ONLY MADE ABOUT 500) THEN YOU GOT ONE OF THE BEST INTRUMENTS OUT THERE!

Taylor "Legends of the Fall" Limited Edition cutaway grand auditorium. 2000, made in California. Solid koa back and sides, mahogony neck, solid sitka spruce top. Ebony fretboard and bridge. Rosewood headstock overlay. Silver Grover tuners. Fishman prefix electronics with controls in side of body. Abstract limited edition inlay on upper back. Wide (1-3/4") neck makes fingering chords easy for people with larger hands, and gives lots of room for fingerpicking. Came with SKB hard case, manuals, and tools.

Sound : 10
Sounds unbelievable. The koa is very bright without losing warmth and bass. Louder and brighter than the regular mahogony 314. Great for lead and working up the neck. Responds to every pick or bend. The Fishman pickup is simple to use and sounds great. Feeds back easily, but can be fixed with stage position and soundhole cover. I do lots of rhythm strumming and blues solos, and it's perfect. Same volume as a dreadnaught, but better highs for lead and tighter sound for fingerpicking. Blows away any guitar in the price range. Even with the Elixers on, it was by far the best sounding guitar in the store, and half the price of some of the others. I'm impressed every time I play it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Perfect set-up right from the store. Super low action. Barre chords are no problem, and the neck is fast and smooth. Frets are perfect, tuners are great. Binding and all joints are perfect as well. Surface finish is great- gloss top and satin back. Came with Elixer strings, but normal phosphor bronze sound much better.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've only had it a few months, but the couple bumps it's received have had no effect whatsoever. I've played out a few times, and have no worries. Will last forever I'm sure. Only scratches are on the pickguard, surface does not scrath easily. UV cured finish will not check with age either.

Customer Support : 10
I've had no dealings with Taylor yet, but I've heard nothing but great reviews. Guitar came with numerous "tech sheets" detailing adjustments and humidity control.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 9 years, both acoustic and electric. I've had a Takamine, and play my friend's Martin. I also have a Gibson Nighthawk electric. I play my acoustic through a P.A. with only reverb, and electric through a Peavy Classic with a crybaby and Ibanez tube screamer. I mostly play rock, classic rock, adn blues. I've been waiting to get a Taylor, and the limited editions allowed me to get a koa model for basically the normal price. The sound and build quality are unbelievable for any price range. I would buy another one without a doubt. Can't wait to add more Taylors to my collection.
