410-L1 model. Gloss finish on whole body, figured solid imbuia back and sides (an uncommon wood from brazil), made in USA, solid spruce top - bear claw figured, 1-3/4" nut i believe. Solid ebony fretboard, not striped. Pearl dots, taylor tuners, ebony tailpiece. It's like a 410 but better - add the gloss finish and a special wood. Came with an archtop case. Rosette is plain, and not pearl or anything like that. That's about the only thing that makes a super high end model better than this.

BOUGHT USED - 2003 model. It's about perfect, though.. no scratches or any marks.

The sound is incredible! This guitar is meant for 13-gague strings, because it brings out the bass. With 13's on, the balance of tones is amazing, it response to what you play. If you paly the bass strings a little harder, it will make a ton of difference. But if you twang those highs a little more, then it'll give you the classic Taylor treble: crisp and sweet.

This wood is really fantastic.. the tones are complex, but not as overpowering as rosewood may be. Better than any other wood I have played, and distinctly more clear and LOUD. This is a really loud acoustic, I have never heard louder in a dreadnought. It is clear both loud and also if you want it quiet.. well like I said: it responds to how you are playing. Very sweet quiet. Dead strings make it nice and mellow.

I think because of Taylor's bracing, or thickenss of woods (or whatever they do different than martin, etc), the guitar comes out very balanced. I played several Martins, including D18, D28, some Takamines, some other Taylors, a Jumbo-sized Guild (way too big!!), and many Larrivee's. Played all types of woods and brands, including a very nice sounding koa Martin D-16K. But even that doesn't compare to the depth, clarity, volume, and TONE of this guitar.

Very nice, matched figured wood. Finish is spotless and well done. Neck joint looks good. The frets are a little sharp (pointy) on the highest frets, but I don't know if that's just me not humidifying it enough or what. I always keep it in the hard shell, and put the humidifier on when I need it. String height and intonation is excellent.

Great guitar and build as well as any other acoustic. I have a few shirts that are slightly abraisive and they kinda made a glare on the finish on the back. Not as bad as it sounds, just if you looked really close, it wasn't that brand-new shine. Got a bottle of martin guitar polish and now it's perfect again. I highly recommend that product for this guitar.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't talked to them. But they have a nice website which is very helpful. Tells you how to figure out what your model number means. Model-Year-Month-Day-Unit made that day, etc. Check it out. I don't know if I have a warranty, and it doesn't really matter. It's not breaking. Bought it used anyways.

I spent over 3 years trying out acoustics, trying to find the features and sound I wanted, and this blew me away. I could never be happier, and it gets better sounding the more I play. I've been playing guitar for 6-7 years now, mostly on electric until I got this. It is my first acoustic. Looks great in low light with the black ebony, and gloss finish. I can't believe the sound for the money. The only thing I could ask for is a mother of pearl rosette around the soundhole... but it's not like I see that when I'm playing. In fact, I think it just makes me look at the beauty of the wood more. The imbuia back and sides are stunning! I would be very upset if it were stolen or something, as I don't know if I could find a replacement as good as this guitar.

This guitar is also known as the 410-L1.

This is a 2003 Limited Edition 410 dreadnought with gloss finish, nicely figured imbuia back and sides substituted for standard ovengkol and pearl dot inlays.

The rest is standard Taylor 410.

This is where this guitar shines!!!

I wasn't looking for a dreadnought but two quick Asus2 chords and I was sold.

I tried the following guitars: Taylor 514CE, 414, 414CE, 314, 315, 410CE,710; Martin D-28, Laravee 03 and 05 series (all of them); Guild JF30. I was all set to buy a 414 but at the last minute the gloss finish of this 410-LTD caught my eye. At first I thought it was one of the 7XX rosewood guitars and out of my price range.

I was very surprized how alive and open this guitar sounded compared to the 414. This guitar has a perfectly balanced sound. Nice crisp but not overly bright trebles, strong, but not boomy bass. Very well balanced is the best way to describe it. It rings and sustains forever too!

There was a lot of variablity in the way the Taylors sounded. Not all 414's sounded the same and a few times I found a 3XX that sounded better than the 4XX counterpart. If you are looking at Taylors, try a bunch.

Maybe this guitar is one of the better ones but it sure holds it's own with guitars costing much more.

Perfect! Typical Taylor action and playability.

The top looks great with no grain runout.

The imbuia back and sides are very nicely figured and have a lot of depth.

I'm only rating this category a 9 because there are some darker patches on the back of the guitar that are not that aypical of imbuia, but I would have prefered a bit clearer grain.

I wasn't sure of the wood type before I purchased this guitar so I called and left a message for Taylor customer support. They called back within an hour and looked up the serial number in their database.

The guy also gave me a rundown of their LTD lines and wood types.

Overall Rating : 10
I have a ton of electric guitars but only one acoustic.

I have been playing for 10 years.

My wife says my biggest hobby is going to guitar shops and playing acoustic guitars. I guess I'll have to find a new hobby now!
