Made in USA. Gloss top. Expr Sys. Rosewood back/sides, spruce top. mahog neck. Big tuning pegs for more accurate tuning. Neck is a little wider than most other guitars, but thats just the way taylors are.

Sound : 9
My style is heavy strumming, flat picking. I tried it through a Marshall AS100D amp. It sounded a lot better using the balanced xlr cable. I am going to buy a Genz Benz Shen 100 amp to use with it. NOTE: the volume knob is not like other guitars... Higher up on knob doesn't mean better/clearer sound. I compared it to a martin RGTE or something before i bought it. The martin had more bass but the taylor felt better to play. It had a more consistent sound like each string had its own voice of equal strength. I used elixers on it for a while but kept breaking them, so i switched to martin SP bronze mediums. It sounds sooooo good with them, and i rarely break them but they string don't last too long. I also switched to a lighter pic Jim Dunlop nylon 63mm.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar was made so well. Flawless. I like having no gloss finish on the back and sides, i think it gives it a more open sound. I have a martin d15 and which has no finish, and i have left sweat marks for a natural body-oil finish on it. So far nothing like that with the taylor. The action is really easy to adjust. I play in alternate tunings and jump in and out of them often. Of course i wouldn't mind a smaller body size, but if you want more depth to your guitar then you gotta go dreanaught. The action is so so low and doesn't buzz.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Will it withstand live playing. Sure but its an acoustic guitar so you can be in a punk band with it. The hardware seems so sturdy. I just love the tuning pegs, they are so accurate. Finish is great. My martin D15 feels so fragile compared to this guitar. I would normally give this guitar (or any acoustic guitar) a low durability rating, but to not hurt its reputation i'll score it high. For an acoustic guitar it IS rock solid.

Customer Support : 10
I had some trouble a few months after purchase with the guitar's electronics. I took it into Chuck Levin's Repair shop and they fixed it and even replaced my strings with elixers and fixed the action for free!!!

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 7 years. I own a martin d15 and the taylor. I would definately buiy this guitar again if i could... Since its a limited edition good luck on that. I hope it goes up in value!!!! I love this guitars playability and sound. I don't like that there is no mid freq knob. I compared it to a martin rgte. check out my band at www.purevolume.com/vienna.

Product: Taylor Guitars 410-RCE 2003 Summer Limited Series
Price Paid: Traded for 2001 Taylor 410 and Fender Musicmaster amp (plus some cash)

Features : 10
2003 Summer Limitied Edition RCE: Solid Rosewood back/sides, solid Sitka spruce top, mahogany neck, cutaway, Expression System electronics (bass, treble, volume knobs), new Taylor embossed tuners.

Sound : 10
Fantastic sound both unplugged and plugged in. I play mostly bluegrass, country and folk music. The 414 RCE that I tried out (purchased the same day by someone else) was a little brighter in the midrange, but the 410 had more bass, so I stuck with the dreadnaught body style because I do mostly strumming with a little flatpicking. I'm still exploring all the options with the Expression system, but it sounds incredible so far. So far, I'm using my electric guitar amp (a Marshall AVT 20 with speaker out to a Kustom cabinet with a 12" Celestion and a Magnavox horn). I'm not sure if I'll ever nned to spring for an acoustic amp, although I'm intrigued by Taylor's new equalizer designed for use with the Expression System.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Wonderful - I traded in a 2001 Taylor 410 for the 410 RCE, and the action, fit and finish is impeccable on both. Both had some minor bearclaw in the Sitka, but I think that adds character. The rosewood is beautiful. I liked the sound of the Ovangkol, but I found that I longed for the sound of rosewood. My guitar prior to the 410 was a Martin d-28 (which I traded because of some recurring problems with the binding), and I liked the additional bass of the d 28 and the 410 RCE. This guitar allowed me to upgrade to rosewood and the Expression system without all the appointments that I really didn't need (gold plated tuners, fancy abalone inlay, etc.) and save a lot of money in the bargain. IMHO, this guitar sounds better than the 810 CE's that I played.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Even though I'm a basement musician and treat my guitars with great care, I'm confident that this guitar would hold up on the road. My only regret is that I would never trust this guitar to an airline baggage handler, so it's staying home during trips.

Customer Support : 10
Limited lifetime warranty. I haven't needed it on either Taylor that I've owned, but their other support has been great so far.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing bass for 30 years, and six-string for over 25. I've switched almost exclusively to guitar now, recently selling off my Fender American Deluxe P-bass and trading my vintage Fender bass amp because I never used them. I'm keeping my custom Tele clone (Route 101 Nashville-style Rincon, which is a great guitar too). Even though Taylor guitars aren't cheap, in my opinion they're worth every penny. I hope I never have to replace this guitar (knock on rosewood), because it's a limited edition and would be difficult to replace at a similar cost. If I had to, I would replace it with another Taylor as quickly as possible. The new bolt-on neck design solves problems that guitars have had for more than a hundred years. Their video shows a neck reset in less than five minutes without removing the strings! I still love their sound, but try that with a Martin.

Solid Rosewood Back & Sides with a gloss finish, Expression System Pickup, newly designed Taylor tuners. Everything else is standard for the 410CE.

Sound : 9
Sound is amazing. Good bass response, but doesn't over power the mid range tones. Fairly even tone. Compared this with a 414RCE, and while the 414 was slightly brighter and clearer, this one produced much better volume and responded to hard strumming very well. It doesn't get a 10 only because the clarity was a little better with the 414RCE.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Everything appears to be finished perfectly. Guitar was perfectly setup out of the box and plays cleanly and in tune all the way up the neck. Most comfotable guitar that I have ever played.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I have no reson to believe tat it won't hold up with proper care.

We ordered this guitar in July we I became aware that Taylor was doing a Summer Limited Series. The initial run was oversold and delivery was postponed 3 or 4 times. Finally, I called Taylor. They were extradorinarily helpful and promised to ship two guitars for me to choose from. The guitars went out the following week. I was very impressed. Calls were returned promptly, and they were always pleasant.

Overall Rating : 10
It is an amazing guitar, and the shop here is wonderful. The guitar really suits my style of play well, which is primarily contemprary worship. I don't do fingerstyle. If I did, the 414 was a much better choice. For hard strumming and flat picking, this wins hands down. The only that that I had any reservatons about was the medium strings. However the guitar is so well set up, it is still much more playable that my Seagull Acoustic that I have had for 10 years.
