Crappy wood quality. The neck stress cracked. Of course Taylor blamed it on impact. From what I have read (too little too late) this is common for them. Their customer service is terrible.

Not long after purchasing the guitar I noticed a stress crack on the neck up by the tuners. The music store that sold the guitar agreed that there was no impact marks or other sign of rough treatment and that it was in pristine condition. I have stored it per manufactures instructions. Taylor immediately blamed the cracked wood on "impact". They won't fix it they just want to make another $250 on a replacement neck. If you are thinking about a Taylor do what I did not. Research their terrible customer service. I'm definitely not the only customer who has had a terrible experience with them. One other thing. Since when did businesses customer service departments start acting so arrogant and condescending? Taylor's unwillingness to honor their warranty for a $250 neck is a pretty shortsighted business decision. My advice is to purchase anything but a Taylor guitar. Their "lifetime" warranty against defects is useless because they will just blame it on "impact".

Let me begin by saying that each and every time I go to choose a guitar to play for the day, I find myself going to my Taylor 310-K. The no-nonsense craftmanship that defines Taylor products allows me to feel comfortable with its sound, and feel comfortable with it in my hands. The body style is quite standard, and it tunes like a dream.
The thick, warm neck is very playable and it is quite easy to move from lower to higher positions. The tonal range of this instrument far exceeds the price. I could imagine spending 1,500-1,600 easily for this guitar.

I play fingerstyle, classical and blues guitar. Of course, the 310-K is not a classical guitar, so I don't want to judge it from that standpoint. But as a fingerstyle instrument, this guitar has a very clean and powerful tone that really stands out from other acoustics.
I would have to agree though that at times I wish it had a little more warmth when it comes to open chords. Barre chords hold that warmth (as they naturally do, I might add) but, tonally this is this guitars only limit.

Perfect construction: beautiful Koa, and how about that Taylor T on the back of the neck? That is just outstanding.

This guitar I hope will last me all of my life, as I will never sell it and will continue to treat it with lots of care. The finish is excellent and, though I play it all the time, I notice it has retained its new and crisp look. This guitar is designed for a real guitar lover. The strap buttons are very solid, and I can depend on it holding tune and holding up during live sessions.

Once, only to look up information on the 310-K. I am just so curious to learn about why Taylor would design such a guitar, a limited edition with Koa, at the 310 level. I don't think I would have to get it repaired any time soon, as it is a pretty straighforward guitar and kept under the right conditions: temperature, light and cleanliness, it should continue to preform. If not, Taylor has a great reputation for customer support. I remember the store owner told me 467 guitars were made, but does anyone know? I should ask Taylor that question. In any case, I look forward to hering more from you all! After all, we are lucky to have such gems.

I have been playing guitar for 6 years. I spent about 4 months searching for a new guitar. I tried everything. Only once did I feel I found "my" instrument, and that was the 310-K. All my guitar buddies know it's the sweetest, though they'd never admit it over their 2,500 dollar piece! Ha!

2000 Legends of the Fall Limited Edition. Solid Koa back and sides, solid spruce top, gloss top, satin back and sides, dreadnaught, new-tech neck design.

I've had this beautiful Taylor for almost a year. I love the sound. A very crisp, bright sounding dreadnaught. I have used a few different strings on it, and prefer something like a bronze or phospher bronze light. I have to dispute the claim by the previous reviewer that Taylor recommends only light gauge strings. I called Taylor tech support and Mike told me that this model is exactly like a regular 310 in construction, designed for medium strings. The top is a regular 310 top, the differences are in the Koa back and sides. I recently put Elixer Nanoweb mediums on it. Sounds great fingerpicked, but the strings sound too bright for strumming, no bottom end punch. I'm hoping the strings will mellow out some. I think I prefer DeAddario XP - Extended Play - strings to Elixer.

Top notch quality for a low end Taylor. Nothing fancy, but it looks, feels and plays like a dream. This really is my dream guitar. After one year, I continue to be impressed. The neck is very fast with good action and feel. I recently sold a low end Larrivee and I never really liked that neck, especially when compared to the Taylor. The spruce top on the Taylor is perfectly bookmatched, tight grain with very attractive silking in the grain - just gorgeous. Mine has the 3 piece Koa back, very rich looking.

great under $1000 acoustic. Distinctive with the Koa, great Taylor quality, great sound and looks beautiful. This model is also holding its value very well. I've seen used ones on ebay for $800-$900. I've been playing 20 years on and off. Last year I bought 2 acoustics, a Larrivee D02E and this Taylor 310K. The Taylor is twice the guitar as the Larrivee - looks better, plays better and sounds great. The Larrivee has been sold, I'll keep the Taylor.

An outstadning instrument that brings me so much serenity and joy in playing. I am fairly new and have other acoustics but this guitar, without question, rates #1 in playability, quality, and materials.

I am so hooked on Taylor's. In fact I look forward to trying the new nylon strings that are due out soon. I have been playing only a short while but when I first picked up a Taylor I knew I had to have one. I'm glad I have one.

What can I say. Barebones. Just like my Martin D-15 that I traded in for this beaut. Although I wish I would have also kept the Martin.
Sitka Spruce top and Hawaiian Koa for the sides and back. Beautiful inlay of pearloid (I think) on the back is a bonus. No flaws anywhere.
I give the features a 10 rating just because of the finish, craftsmanship and the pure beauty of the guitar

Nice bright mellow sound. Unfortunately Taylor supplies light gauge strings and recommends only using light gauge strings on this model. That's fine for fingerpicking and flat picking. Especially when recording (home recording with my local band). But when I want to do heavy strumming, ala Pete Townsend, I'm a little disappointed in the boominess or lower response that I got with my Martin D-15 (of course my Martin was built with mahagony).
But I bought the guitar for nice clean tones, almost bell like. And when fingerpicked whether it's the Beatles, Radiohead, or a country twangy number the guitar does not disappoint.

The action is perfect straight from the factory. However I bought the guitar from Mass Street Music in Lawrence, Kansas (great shop, great people) and I'm sure they went over the guitar before displaying it.
The hardware is all chrome. Again the finish is flawless and the wood is beautiful. The Koa is highly figured, almost translucent.

The guitar stays in tune, even when I'm pounding on it. I play pretty vigorously and the guitar always stays in tune.
No wear and tear as yet. I've had it almost a year. I've dinked it into doorways and chairs but each time I think I've dented it I look at the finish and no dents. But I really don't care since I bought it to play live and record.

I looked into Taylor support before buying and picked up several of their newsletters before buying. If the American automakers operated their companies like Taylor you'd see higher quality domestic cars on our highways.

I've been playing for approximately 20 years and play all styles of music. From fingerpicked ballads to flatpicked surf music to major pentatonic country tunes this guitar can do it all. It's all in the fingers!
This guitar makes you want to get it out of it's case and jam away.
If you live in an area with high humidity you'll need to keep this baby in it's case with a humidifier. It's worth the extra trouble. That's why I keep my Fender Am. Standard strat plugged intro my Hotrod Deluxe amp in my bedroom if I don't want to mess with getting the Taylor out of the case.

This guitar doesn't have many ammenities but that is what I like about it. It has 20 frets solid sitka spruce top with Koa back and sides. Heading up the neck it has an ebony fretboard with chromed out Grover tuners.

I used to play a mitchell that I borrowed from a buddy of mine and the difference in sound is INCREDIBLE!!!! This taylor gives off a bright full sound that fills the room. While the Mitchell sounded like there was a pillow stuffed in the sound hole. I emailed taylor and asked what tonal differences were between mohagany and koa and she told me that koa will keep bright end over time more so than the mohagany and still develop the deep end.

I have only been playing for about a year and having this guitar has only made it easier to learn!! I love everything about it and if it was stolen or lost I would cry and then go by the same guitar. I played my cousins 814 taylor and I didn't notice that much of a difference for the price.
