cutaway body...pretty simple, dark top finish, cheap pickup by fishman(actually the more and more that i use fishman stuff the more i get frustrated because the guitars are being robbed of its potential). Stays in tune like a mad man.
i give it a 8 because of the dumb fishman.

sounding like a cardboard box when plugged in...but of course i had to change that...LR BAGGS iBeam active onboard system. By far the best pickup that i have ever heard...the guitar can to life...and sounds better than my dads 710ce with fishman in his..no contest (plugged in of course)...unplugged it sounds real natural...sounds great for the price, no real complaints.

Made in September 1999. Made in El Cajon, California, USA. 20 frets.
All solid wood construction and hand-made. This is the 25th Anniversay Edition. It differs from the 310CE by being constructed from all Mahogany (Neck, Sides, Back and the top has a glossy finish whereas the rest of the guitar has a satin finish). Includes Fishman Electronics. For a $1200 acoustic it is very unique in appearance. It has a much warmer tone than a spruce top/rosewood guitar, but that was something that attracted me to this guitar. It has a very personal feel to it. Check out the Taylor website: www.taylorguitars.com for more details.

The all mahogany design that gives is a very rich textured tone, but is not as bright sounding as a spruce top/rosewood design. The notes ring clear and the sustain is excellent. This guitar sings once you get into your rhythm. I play a lot of Jimmy Page (acoustic), Niel Young and America songs on this guitar. A guitarist friend of mine said it has a dead spot on the 4th fret of the D string. I think it is more his lack of appreciation for the softer tone of this instrument. He is expecting to get the brighter sound that rosewood provides.

I will keep this a lifetime...it will be a nice heirloom for my grandchildren...My daughter (10) she has her own Taylor (it might be a baby now) but by the time she hits high school she will be ready for a signature model. This guitar has great stage presence. The Fishman pickup is fairly standard and works well on stage.

I e-mailed Taylor once, concerning a suspected dead spot. I recieved a personal phone call back within 24 hours and resolved the issue. How much more personal can you get. Someday Taylor will be too big to do this but it was a nice feeling not often found with other companies.

I purchased this at Morey's Music store in Lakewood, CA. (562) 420-9532. They are genuine guitarists selling great guitars. The prices are not that different from the chains when it comes to quality gear. But the service is 100% better.
I recommend staying away from the big chain stores like "SA"..."GC" they should all go to Mars...Some glue sniffing punk can't help me choose a decent guitar...they don't understand what tone is all about. They are all tone-def or deftones or something like that...
