Spruce top and Koa sides, otherwise relatively plain. This is not a showpiece, but a player's guitar, though the Koa is very nicely figured. Has the newer Expression System electrics.

Sound : 10
The sound is spectacular. I do a combination of fingerpicking and strumming, and it sounds great for both. As good as the 714-ce cedar that I originally planned to puchase.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Everything was perfect out of the box.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Only had it for four months, but this thing never goes out of tune. And I have been playing the @#^&* out of it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No need

Overall Rating : 10
I played about 15 Taylors at Sam Ash, Guitar Center, and Tobias. As well as Martins and others. As I said, I intended to buy, and saved for, a 714-ce cause I liked to looks, but when I played this one, I knew it was the one. Its essentially a K14-ce koa, without some o the fancy stuff; I could never afford to be a collector, I bought this guitar to play, so the doo-dads, shile nice, were not that big of a deal. This guitar literally fit right in my hands and made me play better than I really can. Honestly. If you can find one, its a $3,800 guitar for $1,500. They don't even have a koa any more!

2003 Limited edition 314ce. Additional to the standard 314ce this guitar comes with Koa back and sides, a high gloss finish, and the new Taylor expression system instead of the Fishman Prefix Plus.

Sound : 10
The acoustic presence is good considering its size compared to dreadnoughts. There is a clear balance across the tonal spectrum. I wasn't too sure what people meant by "bell like tones" from Taylors until I strummed this guitar and found out; it really does ring clear, crisp and even (isn't that a Christmas carol?).

I tried this model and the standard 314ce plugged in. I was impressed with the Fishman Prefix on the standard model, then I plugged in this limited edition and the Taylor expression system just knocked me off my feet. Plugged in it is by far and away the nicest acoustic sound I have heard - and this was only on a cheap amp in the shop!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The set up was fine straight out of the box. No flaws, solidly made

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is a solid, well built guitar suitable for a variety of styles and a variety of uses: stage, recording, etc. Take it anywhere, do anything with it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
So far I have had no dealings with Taylor so I cannot comment

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for over 10 years. I own Martin and Yamaha acoustics, and Epiphone and Yamaha electrics.

I played Martin, Guild, Gibson, Takamine, and Fylde before deciding on the Taylor 314-CE-LTD. OK there are prettier guitars out there (cosmetically speaking) but it is the tone and feel of a guitar that really matters. This one is solid and oozes the quality one would expect from Taylor in both of these departments. Perhaps if my budget was a little larger I would have chosen a 614ce but the Ltd edition makes my entry level Taylor feel that little bit more special than the standard model.

Features : 10
Spruce top and Flame Maple back and sides all solid wood. Fishman prefexPro active piezo pickup and pre-amp. Grand auditorium style body. Beautiful Taylor Case included . Elixir strings. 20 frets. Ebony fretboard. Handmade in the USA!

Sound : 10
This is the most incredible sounding acoustic to my ears anywhere near this price! I tried a $4000 Taylor Koa acoustic that didn't come even close! I tried several Martins, a couple of Ovations and 2 Gibsons(double the price) and nothing compared! I am no expert! This is my first and only acoustic! I primarily play electric!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
None of the other acoustics could match the ease of playing this guitar has! Action is low with absolutely no fret buzz anywhere! The bookmatched top and back is beautiful! Frets are smooth! Absolutely no rough edges!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Everything seems completely solid! Just recently purchased! Limited lifetime warranty included!

Customer Support : 10
Haven't had to deal with them! I'll give it a 10 at this time based on the quality of the guitars construction!

Overall Rating : 10
I would definitely buy this guitar again if something, God forbid, should happen to it! Nothing to my humble hands and ears compares!

Solid top acoustic, Spruce top and Maple back and sides all solid wood..2002 LTD cutaway edition Fishman prefexPro active piezo pickup and pre-amp.Gloss top and satin finished back and sides.Grand auditorium style body( smaller than a dreadnaught).Case included . I know 1500 sounds a bit high.(But remember, the guitar was talking to me guys) :^ )

Sound : 9
It is just a great sounding guitar. It's bright but not shrill sounding with a decent amount of bottom end there to be called upon when needed. It's sound is just all around balanced.(It sounds like a great sounding acoustic is supposed to sound.)
It isn't a Bluegrass Boomer for sure but for sitting down and fingerpicking it has a lot of prescense for it's size. It's very responsive to your playing dynamics. Great for recording with a mic or the pickup. The plugged in sound is very adjustable and sounds like most piezo setups. It's plugged in sound takes a little adjusting to get it the way you want.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The factory setup was fine and it holds a tune wonderfully.(Often I check it and find it's still tuned from the last time.
The bookmatching on the top is nice. The back is somewhat mis-matched looking. Not ugly just not Triple AAA top of the line.
There is only one noticable blemish. A tiny spot by the control panel that looks as if a small drop of stain sat too long ther. But it's really tiny.Fretwork is great. Easiest "out of the box" action I've ever seen.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar with reasonable care should hold up well.As stable as the tuning is I can't see any problems. The satin finishes have been around for several years now and I haven't seen a problem with them before.Taylor actually puts the strap buttons on before you get the guitar so they're solid and out of the way.
I'd depend on it to play out.I'm not hard on my instruments and with any sort of care it should hold up fine. A backup instrument? I've never used one before. If I break a string(rare occurance) they can just wait till I stick another one on.

Customer Support : 10
Never having dealt with them I have no opinion.I'll give them a 10 just because I like the way the instrument came to me. It showed a good amount of attention to a new guitar. The talk among other owners is wonderful about service etc.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 30 years. Geez that sounds bad. I should be better at it.
Other gear? Typical Strats, Teles,Gibsons, Martin,Reverend,Ovation,Godin. In short ,too much.
If I lost it my wife would beat me. If somebody stole it I'd call the cops and cry.
If I were to replace it,it would be with whatever acoustic guitar that cried to me to "take me home". I just think you have to listen to the individual instrument and pick the one that grabs you.I played 6-8 Taylor 314's in several shops( for less money actually) and this is the one I kept coming back to.
