This is a 1999 Thompson T1CDL Custom hand made By Ted Thompson of Vernon, BC Canada. The body is a Grand Concert cutaway with an extra deep bout. It has solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, a solid German Spruce top. Kao (instead of Maple) binding around the body and neck along with a Koa backstripe. It has a beautiful abolone rosette around the soundhole along with three mohagony rings. It has gold Spertzel tuners. The neck is made of mohagony. The headstock is Brazillian Rosewwod. Ted will build anything you want and he dosn't Charge an arm and a leg.

Sound : No Opinion
The grand Concert has a very Balanced tone. Not as much bass as I had hoped. I just installed a L.R. Baggs Ibeam active, and it is a very nice combination.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Opening the case for the first time was quite the experience. The Finish on this guitar was pefect. The woods Ted uses are nothing but the best. The cutaway has a strange angle near the neck, but other than that the finish is perfect and the action is great.

Reliability/Durability : 9
So far the guitar has held up well. With the low humidity here in the winter in minnesota I have not notice much of a change in sound or playability. My old Martin was unplayable in January!. I have never broken a string playing this guitar. The only probelem is this is almost too nice of a guitar to take on the road.

Customer Support : 10
Ted is great. Almost every aspect of my guitar is custom made, and he didn't charge any extra. Ted is more than happy to chat with you about exactly how you want it built. Ted makes the best value I have ever seen. For the price of a Taylor you can have a one of a kind handmade masterpiece built to your specifications.

Overall Rating : 10
If I sit this next to a Goodall. I have to say My ear will pick the Goodall. But for half the price I'll pick a Thompson all day long!
