This little canon of a music box is changing my heavy handed style of playing and introducing me to my own capacity for melody.
A clear, focused sound, strong voice across the strings, barking midrange, chiming trebles, focused bass.

Due to an injury I've had the action lowered a touch, but the guitar exceeds expectations. Ted Thompson is famous for his attention to detail. He's been at this quite some time and knows his own standards as well as his competition's. His work is clean, simple, honest in design and construction. Ted is renowned for his superb wood selection.

I've already used it live and it is so comfortable to play, so clear and ringing in voice.

SWR California Blonde Acoustic Amp
I'd get another immediately if stolen.
I love the chiming, ringing voice, and its comfortable, intimate size that fits so comfortably playing standing.
Favorite feature is its voice: clear, direct, projecting.
I've played many top luthiers and Ted competes and meets their work at often 1/2 and even 1/3 the price.
Selfishly, I wish it had a slot head stock, purely a visual preference having no measurable effect on tone. Just style. I'd love to have another some day in Koa/Ad.
Ted Thompson is one of the best bangs for a buck in the hand made guitar world.

This is a small-bodied guitar. Due to the body size, it doesn't have a huge sound - but it makes the most of what it's got. Clear top end, full bottom end.

It arrived set up beautifully. The grain on the top is tight and the bookmatching brings out the beauty of the grain. The back and sides are gorgeous. Even the wood binding is nice to look at. The minimum finish on the neck makes it very easy to play.

The guitar is set up in the New Standard Tuning used by Robert Fripp in the Guitar Craft seminars. The top string goes up to G and the bottom goes down to C. This tuning is tough on guitars and the Thompson takes it with ease.

Note that there was a $96 importing (from Vancouver, Canada) fee. This guitar compares with Taylor guitars but, for less money, I got better construction, better wood, and wood binding. I've played acoustic and electric for many years and, if I were to buy another acoustic, I'd get a Thompson. They're an incredible value for the money. I use a Sunrise pickup and it sounds great.
