This sitka spruce topped mahogany back and side dreadnaught was hand made in 1995. I purchased it used in 2001. The ebony fretboard and mahogany neck is extremely clean and jet-black. All fit and finish is increadably well done.
This guitar is spartan as far as appointments, but the finish and woods are beautiful. I'm only rating a 9 because it doesn't have extra appointments.

I play both fingerstyle and a fairly light had with struming (42mm pick) The balance of bass, mid and highs are awesome.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action was slightly high and I've had the saddle reduced to bring it into line with my playing style. The mahogany on the back and side glows and the finish is flawless.
Reliability/Durability

This instrument is so well made, I would have no concerns about playing gigs. Given that it is 6 years old, with absolutely no finish problems, I'd have to say it will hold up.

I've spoken with Ted Thompson personally. He is very helpful (he sent me custom made strap buttons at no charge.)

I've been playing middle of the road guitars for 30 years. This is my first hand made, high quality guitar. I like it better each time I play it. I've recorded with it and it records very evenly.
I would like to get a OM style Thompson, cutaway. I would be heartbroken if I lost this one. If you find one, get it, you won't be sorry.
