.It's body is like a jaguar or jazzmaster
But a little bit smaller. Tabacco sunburst
.Weird but cool hinged bar bridge
.Strat neck and headstock, super thin finger board
.good inotation great acces to high frets
.Pickups modified to a fat tele configuration
.Really light almost to light. Made in japan around
1965

Sound : 7
.Non stock configuration sound great
.humbucker is super punchy
.Tele bridge pickup sound light and glassy
.together they sound warm but still sharp
.the only problem is the neck is so thin
that when your soloing the notes can blend

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
.Good action until you pass the 18 fret
then it starts to get cliky
.Good finish for being 40 years old
. finish on the back of the neck is
beautifully smooth
.who ever was the previous owner really
hacked it up under the pickgaurd but it
still holding together

Reliability/Durability : 8
.This thing is a little beast
.it is small and thin but it is
still structurally solid
.sounds great live
.strap buttons are small but they are
curved so they hold straps well
.finish is hard but brittle a.k.a old

early 60's japanese.
essentially the same as the ones reviewed here. solid body (alder), mahogany neck, 1 single coil pickup, V/T, output jack.

3 color sunburst (think early strats), goofy jazzmaster/jaguar like shape.

body mounted trapese-type bridge, no intonation saddles. cheeseball open single-plate 6 inline tuners, chrome metal button (probably replacements).

nothing but the guitar..

Sound : 8
pretty damn cool. it would have been great if it had 2 pickups.

essentially a thinned out mid-strat tone. imagine a strat on the middle pickup, but without the "fullness".

it's cool. one tone, either you'll like it, or you don't.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
played great, and in tune with the ancient crappy strings it came with from the pawnshop.

suprisingly playable. i bought it because it's a stereotypical "pawnshop" guitar. but, this guitar is actually playable. very cool.

for something that has been sitting in a pawnshop for a few years, it plays fine.

it's great for what it is..

Reliability/Durability : 9
it's around 40 years old, it will last.

i'd gig it, if i had a gig to begin with.

it's solid.

Teisco is Kawai. YES, they are still in business and are producing new Teisco guitars. the new Teiscos are expensive. 500.00 to 1600.00, not including shipping from Japan. i'm sure that Kawai is a great company to deal with, but not for this vintage Teisco..

Overall Rating : 10
i'd buy another one, if i could find one. i'd be tempted to get a new one, but 1600.00 is steep for a new one when the vintage ones are much less, and i can have an entire "collection" for 1600.00.

it's sweet. i'm keeping it.

Made in Japan, Simple single pickup design, volume and tone controls. It has a single pickup that I guess is a single coil, but I'm not sure. the body shape is kind of like that of a strat, but different. Fender headstock, a few people have mistaken it for one. Bridge is a simple piece of stamped steel that just holds the strings. Bridge is a bar that has three notches for each string, adjustable with thmbwheels on each side. I bought it with a soft case that fit it exactly, so I guess it may be original, I trshed it in favor of a padded gig bag.

Sound : 10
My music style is mostly for praise and worship with my church, with a little rock thrown in on the side, this guitar has the very best action I've ever seen on a japanese guitar. I've used it on every kind of amp I had from a Fender mini-twin to a 100W bass amp to a silvertone tube amp, to a crate TD-50, to currently a Fender frontman. Ther may not be much variety in the sounds it can make, but it is definatly unique.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
When Im got it the guitar was pure garbage, but it was my first electric so I didn't care. There is no way of adjusting the pickup, The finish was pretty good when I got it, but I've refinished it a couple times, to suit my mood at the moment.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I think that this thing could survive anything ypou can do to it, being so simple the electronics are in no danger. and the solid construction is great too, I've accidentally had an axe fall on mine with no noticeable dammage. I've had to redrill the strap buttons because the holes had stripped out, so now it's fine. I would definatly play this guitar in any situation I'm called to, no backup required.

I am mostly a bass player, this is currently my only electric, but I've had a Les Paul Custom at the same time as this, sold the paul and kept the Teisco, that tell you anything. I've been playing since 1995 on and off, I'm not the greatest, but I've had other musicians play this and it sounds awesome in the right hands. I would hunt another one of these down in a heartbeat, I just love it to death.

I don't know the exact date of manufacture, but it's c.1965
It has 22 medium sized frets
The body is a sawn block of alder or maple
It has really simple electronics: one single coil or a stacked humbucker (i'm not sure which) consistent with Teisco design, vol and tone pots.
The finish is a three color sunburst in gibson colors Black, cherry, lemon,
The body style is a cross between a strat and a jaguar
It has a trapeze style tailpiece
Non-locking original 6 on a side open-gear w. non-removeable chrome knobs
Standard scale rosewood fretboard

I bought this guitar in a local pawnshop for $60.00 when i wanted to learn guitar.

Sound : 10
It is really simplistic and is perfect for the punk music i favor
I'm using a Epiphone Ep-330 with no effects
It has no hum problems at all and the gain drive at ten is great without a lot of volume change.
It has a really heavy thick high-powered sound
It has a great range of tone but a thin treble tone
It has a really great sound with the single pickup. It plays great on clean or overdrive channels

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
It was probably 40 years old when i bought it and i have disassembled It and ajusted it to my ideal action.
The pickups are set high to match the high neck/bridge height
The trapeze bridge/tailpiece was originally chrome and the plating coroded off whithout any damage to the steel on the bridge.
There is a Teisco standard zero fret so the nut is more of a string spacer. There is some buzzing on lower frets and 3rd&4th string 11th fret.

Reliability/Durability : 8
It sounds great live and is a really solid guitar for being over forty.
The hardware is heavy-duty
The finish is in decent shape and is pretty heavy
I would depend on it to a certain extent.
definity not. It may be solid but it's not that solid

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 7
It is a definite vintage guitar full of oddidtys not used in guitars for a while. It is hard to get used to but it has an interesting sound/design.
