I bought this guitar when i had a few bucks burning in my pocket and fell in love by the time it was plugged in. I thought tuning would be an issue with it, but it actually stays in tune better than my fender. it even holds up in weather changes. and you gotta love the mic pick-ups! little distortion and you yell into it and it sounds so awesome

Sound : 10
I'm using a cheap boss distortion pedal and a peavey classic 50 amp. I play extremely clean and extremely dirty and this baby sounds great with both

TEXTBOOK setup!

Reliability/Durability : 10
i use this guitar in the studio and live and only once had to switch to a back-up and that was my fault for bending the string to a breaking point.

Teisco Del Rey ET-312, 3 color sunburst, 1967.
I love it.
3 DeArmond Style toaster pickups, Brutal Tone, Its killer
The Vol, and tone knob setup is a little iffy but, its not as bad as a fender jaguar. I call the body shape, Mix of a Strat and an SG, Start on crack cocaine, hehe

Sound : No Opinion
well you can have 3 single coil pickups going all at once, or any combination of 3 pickups. I have put out some amazing sound through a 1986 Marshall Jcm800 1X12 combo, with a Korg ax1000g effect unit. Its got a super nice tone for "Eurotrash"

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
I got this is ok condition, since then I have Pegged the neck holes, aligned the neck, and Put a new nut on it,Thats about it. Its got the action and feel of a 2000 dollar prs or parker, In fact, Its lite as hell, i think is weighs 5 pounds at best. the finish has some cracks for a 34 year old guitar, Nice sunburst though.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Its like a tank for me, I play alot of grunge, rock, and vintage rock, hendrix, zepplin etc.... If you replace the standard bridge with a Gibson Tune-o-matic bridge it rocks, you can bash it tillyour fingers bleed! I pretty mcuh rebuilt the guitar, new everything except electronics, so its ready to rock.

If you like Smashing Pumpkins- Pisces Escariot, and your looking to get your big muff to pump out crunching tone, this is the guitar for you. Im like it, because its intriging to all (TYPO) I bring it to the local music store, Their reply, What the hell is that, and Is it for sale. I like the fact that when I leave the store the guy has forgot thats its called a Teisco, and I know not to bring it in again, and He willnever see one again. Hehe,

Ive got some pics on my geetar site For you to enjoy.

This is a cool little guitar from the sixties. I have seen different arrangements of the switches and control pots, but mine has 3 white plastic switches (not rocker) to turn off/on (in/out ?) the different PUs.
The PUs are large "toaster top" style Pus. The neck and body both appear to be mahogany. I think the body may be solid mahogany, since when I had the neck off the slot the neck fit in looked to be mahogany. The scale is 24 and 3/4, the fretboard is rosewood, with rectangular inlays instead of dots.
It has the characteristic metal striped pick guard, and this model has more rounded corners on the body, and, the control switches are located to the high E side of the Pus. I have seen others with the control pots and switches reveresed.

The "toaster Top" PUs give this guitar a great spy - sci-fi kind of sound: everytime I start to play it I can't help switching into surf mode. Great twangy yet growling tone.

This guitar is old, and so some things are worn, such as the nut, which has been cut to the fretboard level. The frets were sanded down it appears in an attempt to set up the guitar for slide playing. The orginal bridge is gone and replaced with a straight non-compensated wooden bridge( which I have replaced with a tuneamatic style bridge).
The fretboard has also pulled away from the neck slightly and has "reglued" itself about a 1/16th of an inch to the side. I plan to refret it, replace the nut, and touch up finish some.
The Teisco logo is missing, but the tremelo bar and cover plate are in good shape.

Yeah this is a great guitar for gigs, its just too cool sounding not to use!
One of the strap buttons on mine are awkardly placed, and I'm missing a third strap button which goes on one of the horns.
Finnish has held up this long, will probaly last another 10 or 20 years.

I have been playing guitar for 13 years, I have a fender F-35 acoustic and an Ibanez AM-50 semi-hollow body electric. I base my standards off these two fine instruments.
I like the Teisco because it sounds great, its a nice change up from my AM-50, and I think it would be an asset to any performers set of instruments.
