Two wonderful single coils, two volume, two tone, two VERY light action rocker switches, surprisingly good vibrato, tune-a-matic bridge (that I'm not sure is stock, but fits perfectly on the stock posts) and a fabulous striped aluminum pickguard. SOLID mahogany body, one piece neck, rosewood board. The body is very small and light, and very comfortable to play. The sunburst finish is rather thin, but unchecked and attractive. My only real beef with this guitar is the position of the rockers, which are too easy to accidently flip with enthusiastic strimming.

Sound : 10
I asolutely love the sound of this guitar. It has a unique voice I find very refreshing. It has absolutely smoking blues tones and can be a screaming rocker as well. I especially like the bridge pup or a combination of neck and bridge. I find the neck pup on its own to be a bite too bitey without the treble rolled off.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
My guitar is a '65 and has held up amazingly well for a student grade guitar, but in all fairness it has probably spent most of its life in the case because there is virtually no fret wear. The body is solid mahogany (not laminated), The finish is unchecked, the chrome is mint, even the crappy tuners hold tune surprisingly well. I use light strings (.009's), a low setup and the action is fast and sweet. This was my first guitar as a child (a Xmas present 1965). I traded it in on a used Les Paul Jr. in about 1967 or '68. When I bought this one on E-bay it was for nostalgia and I figured I'd probably hang it on the wall, but it instantly earned a spot in my rotation. It plays and sounds much better than I remembered.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Like I stated earlier relatively unplayed and has held up very well. I suspect with steady playing the frets would wear quickly. They're kinda skimpy and I've read they're somewhat soft as well. One volume pot is basically always on 10. Turning it down has little effect, and spraying it made no difference. The tuners are also unsmooth and very cheap feeling, but hold tune well. Over all for a 40 year old Japanese cheapo I'm impressed.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The warranty on this baby ran out about 40 years ago.

Overall Rating : 10
I own several other guitars, all the electrics are Gibson or Epiphone, P90 and humbucker pups. I personally don't like Fender single coils, but this guitars single coils sing. I get a grin on my face every time I play this baby. I love my vintage Gibsons, (as well as new Epiphones), but this guitar has a sound and a feel all it's own. Of course the quality doesn't compare to a Gibson, but neither does the price. This is probably the best dollar value for pure playing fun I've bought in a long time. If it were lost or stolen and I could find another one as good as this one, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

63'or 64' Teisco MJ-2 vintage sunburst solid body made in Japan. 2 toster humbuckers, 2 volume, 2 tone, 2 mic switches (these cut each pickup in and out) 22 frets, rosewood finger board, orignal trem bridge replaced with clam shell hard tail bridge, orignal saddle replaced with tune-o-matic, tuners replaced with new gears. Bought from Subway Guitars in Berkeley CA, they did parts replacement and setup. To get a idea of what this guitar looks like visit www.teiscotwangers.com, a great web site for Teisco fans!

PERFECT for blues (Howling Wolf played one of these) these pickups have a dirty sound like no other! Great for rock also! A cool little sounding axe!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I had one just like this a few years back and traded it in on another guitar and have been kicking myself ever since! My new one has been around the block a time or two (it is almost 40 years old!) but Fatdog and the guys at Subway did a super job on the set up and it plays great! I was very happy to find another one!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Built like a tank! I am sure it can go another 40 years no problem! For a "first guitar model" these things are really built well.

Customer Support : 10
Fatdog and his staff are a great bunch to deal with! Top notch service!

I have been playing guitar for about 20 years (blues, rock) this little guitar has a special place for me. I also own a Fireglo Rickenbacker 330 and a custom made vintage sunburst violin six string guitar(also built by Subway Guitars). I don't think it would be stolen because if someone tried we would play that new game show "say hello to my friend Mr. 357. If lost I would replace it in a heart beat. If your in to vintage guitars check out Subway Guitars (www.fatdawg.com) they have some really cool old guitars at great prices! For the money this guitar was a super deal, and I am very pleased with it!
