I can't say it better than shredhead in the previous review. It's exactly what i feel about the guitar too. The only difference with him is that he has the last one ever made. And I have, not number 1(too bad), but #2. Not bad either. I just found an other difference. He is speaking of 2 pick ups. I'm not sure if he is mistaken but mine has three. And I think all have........
The bodyshape is also something special. It's fits around your body. When i read about it i thought hmmmmm. But when you play it. You understand why he did it. You have to go to his site to have a look at the pic's.

You can't get a bad sound out of this guitar. It always sounds good. No matter what you try. But it's more stratty than gibson. But thicker and richer and brighter. You can't explain you have to play it. It's too good to be true.

If you know Teuffel. You wouldn't ask this.
So one thing that I want to mention in this. Is the acces to higher positions. It's is so easy to get there. He really thought about this one. Well actually he thought about everything.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Perfect. It's over ten years old now. it has been played a lot and toured. Ok you can see it is used but still looks good. Electronics work still perfect. So no need to call Teuffel yet.

Teuffel is still working alone and he's very friendly and helpfull. You can always call him or make an appointment in his workspot in the south of Germany. (bit far away for the most of us). But you can go there talk with him, he will show you around and ofcourse you can play his guitars. If he has any at the moment. Still want to play a birdfish. Wasn't there at the moment.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing 25 years now. I play modernjazz and instant composing music with influences of rock and noise, actually a lot of styles mixed. I'm mixing all kinds off music.
for me the guitar is the perfect guitar with very good playability and sound and it's excentric looks. This guitar is a real must have for people who want a piece of art and very very very good guitar in one.

The Coco is produced by Ulrich Teuffel in Germany. It is the less widely perceived guitar compared to the "designer piece", the Birdfish. It is an excellent guitar that is developed for ultimate playability and tone. The guitar sports 22 frets, the neck is made of solid wood. Since Teuffel Guitars is a custom shop, several different woods were used. In my humble opinion, the birdeye maple neck (NICELY figured!!!) is the best option. LSR tuners as well as a roller nut of the same manufacturer is used. The guitar is equipped with a Wilkinson VS 100 Tremolo.
The Coco is constructed of a pearwood center which is then coated with epoxy. The fact that Mr. Teuffel has developed an allergy for this particular material entails the fact that the production of these guitars has been discontinued as of 2002. Only about 25 of these wonderful guitars have been produced.
The electronics consist of two custom wound pickups that are slightly shiftable on the body of the guitar. Tonally, these pickups are voiced to capture brilliant resonances of the guitar and retain a sound in the vein of classical P90 pickups.
The neck/body joint is reinforced with an aluminium centerpiece that also improves the sustain of the bolt-in neck. Given that this is a typical Teuffel Guitar, the controls (volume, tone and a five way pickup selector) are placed for perfect ergonomics and an aesthetic design. The neck and scale were modelled to the exact specifications of the customer, the only confining factor was the width of the roller nut.
The Coco includes a nice leather gig bag that is well cushioned to protect the guitar as well as strap locks.

I am not confined to a single style of music, but I like to explore and develop a versatile style. The Coco is a guitar that nicely suits this approach. It is resonant, every square inch of this guitars resonates at even the lightest note being plucked; the pickups are custom wound and wel suited to transport this amazing sonic basis to an amplifier without distorting any of its clarity and personality. You have to hear this guitar to belive the "bandwidth" of sounds it can produce.

The guitar was set up by Ulrich Teuffel. His custom shop is still a true one man operation, and he is passionate about what he does. Meticulous attention to detail, listening to customers' wishes and accurately incorporating them in the setup of the guitar are building stones of Teuffel's final setup. This setup is honed and refined with the customer testing and testing again until an excellent result is achieved.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The guitar is well built, however, due to its scarcity and its importance to me personally, I do not plan to put its durability to a test by performing live with this guitar. I use this guitar for recording purposes only. The nice "plush" finish of the guitar is a particularly nice feature, as is the neck that really feels "unfinished", one seems to feel pure wood.
To conclude, the guitar is certainly reliable and durable, nevertheless, I am going to particularly care for it.

Customer Support : 10
Ulrich Teuffel is a great person to deal with, he is very responsive to emails as well as phone calls. I am certain he would follow through on his commitment to his product and handle any problem so that the customer is perfectly satisfied with the final result.

I have been playing the guitar for more than 16 years now. Other than this guitar, I own a Paul Reed Smith Custom 22, an ESP M-II and a Fender Stratocaster. Every one of these guitars has its own advantages, none of them even comes close to the Teuffel in terms of an overall impression.
I own the last Teuffel Coco EVER produced and I am absolutely thrilled by this lucky fact.
