I own the Timothy S7 (Limited) acoustic guitar. Its a typical dreadnought guitar - all solid wood, mohagany back, sides and top with a natural satin finish.
Rosette's made up of 3 concentric circles of white binding. Guitar comes with a taylor-styled tortoise pickguard, 20 frets, chrome tuner heads, buffalo bone nut & saddle. Fishman prefix preamp and under saddle pickup system plus elixir strings.
No bindings of any sort along the sides of this guitar or fanciful inlays of birds etc. Sinamex explained that this was done to keep costs down. Inlays are the standard 3mm dots along the fingerboard. The peghead is noteworthy though, the 'Timothy' label is inlaid flush, nicely on a darkwood veneer attached to the main peghead, with sides sanded flush.
No accessories included, had to get a hardcase on my own but for the price for an all solid wood guitar you're paying; this is pretty reasonable.

The tone is absolutely beautiful. Sinamex carries taylors and the S7 defintely compares well with the taylors for a fraction of the price.
It is warm and springy all combined into one. The tone sounds already broken into despite being new. when strummed you get a very balanced output because of the heavy basses and distincy trebles.
When plucked, the notes are distinct and the trebles ring out clearly. good sustain.
Bar chords and individual notes still ring out higher up the fret register (8 fret and above) but do not expect a Taylor GS kind of sustain.

action as received was set very low. My initial concerns that this would cause buzzing when strummed hard were unfounded. Its obvious this guitar was set up very well for good playability.
Finish is good, a light satin over the entire guitar. mild fingerprint marks visible when touched. A soft cloth should keep the finish lasting for good.
pickup is great. Sinamex did a great choice in opting for a prefix pickup system and yet manages to keep the price low. Pick ups are extremely sensitive, especially when heard thru a quality acoustic amplifier. uses a 9V battery (supplied)
top and back are solid one piece overalls, thus no bookmatching.
there is a slight CA stain on the fingerboard dot marker (5th fret position) when seen from the top. but this is almost unnoticable and forgivable given that this guitar had some parts set up by hand. easily cleanable.

This guitar would definitely withstand live playing and recording thru a microphone (and very comfortably too).
nonetheless, the chromed tuners look like they would need changing 5 yrs for now. definitely not grover standard. nonetheless, the tuners hold their own, no slipbacks or loosenings when tuning.
strap button came installed with the guitar and have withstood playing standing up. the radius of the buttons are a little larger than usual (could make a bigger hole in ur strap) but i don't see this as a problem at all.
i was initially skeptical about having a mohagany top compared to a spruce one. nonetheless the timothy proved that such dense hardwoods still hold their own and resonate, yet give a warmer response when played.

Sinamex are a friendly lot...the owner readily shared tips on guitar care and maintainence. They are very conscious of their own brand and confident about it - readily letting you compare the timothy to the taylors on display. He narrated his story of how the S7 name was named after his 7 yr old son.
Sinamex offers a 10 yr warranty on its Timothy line of guitars covering all aspects of neck maintainence, set up and playability. You don't get these warranty for these prices and quality everyday. They have their own guitar hospital and are the warranted guitar repair centre for taylor guitars in singapore.
They offered to set up the guitar anytime to my liking should i need it changed in future.

I've been playing for 4 years and consider this a rather solid investment for a serious player. Definitely not a beginner's guitar.
If stolen or lost, I would buy this guitar again.

Solid top mahogany. Mine is the one without the cutaway. Have it for 2 year already, and still serving me well.

The sound is very good. Compared to the Martin and Taylor in the price range of Singapore 1-2K range, it beats them hands down! Has a very rich sound and goes down very well with exilir strings.

Not the best QA around. I will suggest that you try out the each and every timothy in the store as they might sound different. The finishing on the guitar is simple and nothing to shout about as compared with the professionals luthers like yamaha or takamine.

Made in Singapore. Pretty decent tuners for the price I paid. Dreadnought. Just got it, so can't say much about the tuners and stuff. It's solid all around.

BEAUTIFUL! I love it. Had been used to bassy guitars and I was looking for a seagull or S&P. But for the price of a seagull w/ pickup.. I think the timothy is just unbeatable! The sound sells itself!

Very comfortable. The finishing is alright. I'd say that I've seen more gorgious guitars like the canadian ones or takamaine or tacomas... but the timothys are pretty sweet. A very humble look, not too flashy and showy. A little bit of glue can be seen at the heel, but I give/take that on the account that it is handmade.

Just bought it. Has strap button on already. Finishing looks very decent, doesn't look like it'll wear off easily.. but also doesn't look like it's got a piece of plastic stuck on it either.

They're very enthu about their own guitar. Very friendly. 1yr warranty. So far NONE of their timothys have been sent back! I think that's a very good testimony of the quality of their workmanship.

I think the Timothy is definitely worth the investment. I mean it's a solid top, back, and sides! What I love best is the sound and the feel of it! It's like your hands just melt around the neck into putty...your ears just linger at the last note. I know it sounds like poetry, and that's just that feeling I get when I play the timothy. Beautiful. Absolutely worth the money for worship to my King!

Mahogany. Solid top. Full dreadnaught. Fishman pre-fix. Very good quality. Good grain. Probably better than the ones now.

The tone is fantastic! My friends say it's better than a Taylor. Play pop/rock, contemporary Christian. Suits those styles very well compared to the usual ovations. Thonk it would suit almost any style really. Rich mellow sound with a tang of brightness, When plugged in a good amp, you can't really tell whether the amp's on! Trust me, it's happened a few times. Altogther, a very well rounded sound package.

Action was great from day 1. Just kept on improving every day! I haven't touched the pick-up at all. No problems. The finish was quite good. Had 1 or 2 minor scratches, expected from a hand-crafted guit. Although i would say that the current batch has dropped in wood quality. Pitty though, a really beautiful guitar!

Absolutely. Mine has been almost everywhere, includidng the campfire pit, and it did not become firewood! Absolutely solid. Has gone through many hands without a hitch. Only problems were with my own jacks, or low battery(coz it's played so much).

Playing it for over a year now. Never failed to impress me. A truly great guitar. Beats the taylors for a 1/4 the price! Combimed with that fabulous tone and beautifully grained mahogany, what more would you want?

I bought this guitar from Sinamex (the maker for this guitar) This guitar has 20 frets, and the one that I bought is a laminated top. It is equip with a Fishman Prefix (the same as some of the Taylors). The whole guitar is made from Mahogany. It has a dreadnought body and I heard that the machines that they use are the same as those of Baby Taylors.

I have been playing for 4 years in church as a worship leader/musician and I require a guitar that has the top quality sound to worship my Lord and King. I have to say this guitar has the best sound I have ever hear before. It's rich and warm sound can easily beat many of it's competitors. I have played many award winning guitars such as, Taylors, Tacoma, Ovations, Martins, Fenders, Ibanez, Epiphone and ... not many of these guitars came close to the sound this guitar can produce! Consider it's price at S$880 it can easily beat S$1500+ Tacomas! Believe me try it out once and you will know the difference.

I have been playing guitar for around 4 years. Have my own band and played for a few gigs already. I owned a ARIA Acoustic which I bought 2 years ago and a Ibanez RG270 which I had for a year. Believe me if it were stolen or lost, I will return to Sinamex and beg them to reserve a S7 before they sold them out!!!
One thing that I love most is it's sound, which I am looking for. Before I bought it, I was guitar hunting. I went into Sinamex and after playing with Taylors and Avalons, thinking that they are the best guitars that I can play with, I saw the S7 hanging there. I played it for 5mins and came back 1 week later and I bought it.
However, I have to say that this guitar is too big and bulky for ASIANs especially. It's huge dreadnought may looked oversized for Asians in Singapore. However, it is this feature that makes the guitar sound Incredible!!!! Think about it, S$880 for this incredible guitar! Great VALUE!

This guitars is a Singapore guitar, all solid wood Mahogany. It comes with a Fishman Prefix. I was told that my Timothy is the third version since it was first made 2 years ago. The Tuners are the same used by Taylor Big Babies and Simon & Patricks.

This all solid Mahogany (top, backs and sides) from Singapore is amazing in tone. I was told this is now the third version and it is fitted with a Fishman Prefix pickup. I bought the satin finish instead of the gloss of the same model as I feel that it is warmer which I prefer. The gloss finish sounds a bit brighter which may be good for a lot of strumming.
The tuners used are good, no complaints. Same one used on the Taylor Big babies and Simon & Patrick. It is a Dreadnouht size and it comes original with Elixir light gauge (0.012)

I tend to pluck with some strumming. I lean towards acoustic R&B and Jazz with a little bit of folk and this guitar sounds very defined and rich! The Fishman Prefix pickup sounds good.

t is set up very well and the action is low and comfortable. I had to get used to not hitting the strings too hard as my previous guitars are not so reponsive.
Tthe finishing is not great like Taylors but good enough for me.

I have this guitar now for 6 months and I must say it is reliable in our humid and hot weather. A lot of guitars I had before, many times more expensive, could not survive our weather here. I play live quite a bit and I must say I do not take care of my guitars very well but it seems to be very road worthy.

Sinamex, the company that makes this guitar are a friendly lot. Their "Sinamex Guitar Hospital" which is where the guitar is put together, is very willing to adjust the guitar to my liking. The warranty is for one year but I was told that I can come back anytime as they are very serious in taking care of their own brand.

I am totally statisfied with this guitar. The sould quality and action is superb. At this price, even guitars that are 3 times the price and having famous brnading does not sound as good as this guitar.
To me, if there is a need for an upgrade, it will be a Taylor 714ce (5 times more expensive) which I think speaks a lot about this guitar....

okay. here's an update to the guitar after playing it for a good 6 mths. still love the tone.
i mainly play the blues. haven't tried slide. i don't play slide!
the tone was good but a bit indistinct. and could do with a bit more sustain.
then i upgraded the nut saddles and bridge pins to tusq and the tuners to grovers.
my god, what a change. chords ring out and there is more definition with single lines. the warmness of mahogany with definition.
if you get it factory set up, raise the action a bit, get a matt finish and change the nut, saddle and bridge pins, as well as the tuners.
i absolutely love it now. deep bass and strong low midrange with a slight upper mid push and just enough treble. great sustain now.
have been playing for 10 yrs now and doing the blues for 4 yrs. for acoustic, you can't beat this. i tried avalons, taylors, simon and patrick, martins and tacomas. i know its always hard to believe but i prefer this to all of them.

an acoustic guitar. standard dreadnought size. all mahogany guitar. and it comes with a fishman AG pickup. sure, it'll be cool with a cutaway but that will be detrimental to the bass.

the sound is amazing. it is basically mid-dominant and bassy as hell! if you want a solid lead acoustic guitar. fantastic single note lines that just come at you. there isn't too much high end, even wiith new strings but i like that. it gives a very rounded quality to the tone.
with chords, it is a different matter. it sounds great with chords but it is a full-sounding kinda sound. don't expect jangly scooped mids here for airy chords.

the action was initially a bit low. there was buzzing all over the place, but i do play quite agressively. the guitar came with 12s. i asked the shop to raise the action. the sound is now clear as a bell. it is a bit hard to play now as the action is a bit higher than i'd like. but the sound is sooo good, i'd rather suffer with the action a bit. anyway, my fingers need strengthening.
the tuners are a problem. they work fine but they could be tighter.

overall, it is the guitar for me. i have tried many, many acoustics and have never really taken to any acoustic. i am not really an acoustic guitar player. i generally don't like the sound. too sharp and most often breaks up when you strum.
this is the first acoustic that i am falling in love with. it's big sounding and the notes have a real prominence.
