This guitar can really scream.I'm surprised I used to like les pauls and pay so much for them when this guitar is more or less the same thing.I think it's a step above the Epiphone models but just a little short from the gibson les pauls. The pickups rock on this guitar. They're very responsive to each individual string.I can't really think of anything bad to say about the way it sounds.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought this guitar from a store in Canada so I guess those guys really didnt need to set it up.It was perfectly set up when it reached my doorstep. No flaws on the finish or knicks.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I've only owned it a couple months so I'm not too sure how reliable it is just yet.So far no problems.

I've played over 10 years and have played every guitar under the sun.In the future I plan on buying more Tokais because in my opinion Gibson is the most overrated guitar company in the U.S. and Tokai makes guitar just as good for half the price. You should really consider a Tokai before getting a fender strat or L.P. copy.

2004...Korean...24 frets...archtop...partially counter-sunk volume & tone...3-way pu selector...zebra H/H...passive elec...mahogany body / maple set neck / rosewood fb...flame-top...abalone binding around body, fb, and headstock...headstock matches body color...abalone inlays on fb...single-cut body like LP...TOM bridge w. stop tailpiece...non-locking tuners...Gator GW-LP-BROWN hard case fits nicely

Sound : 5
Like an LP, will suit any style. ..I use a Roland GK-3 pu to a VG-88, so I don't really use the humbuckers, but I have tried them and they sound good clean... Don't know about distorted...The volume amd tpme knobs are crap - static noise when turned - same w. 3-way toggle - crap...Replace the electronics & it's a really nice guitar for the price - well made other than the electronics

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
set up decent from the factory...I put on .008's & lowered the action, & intonated it properly...after a good cleaning, that is - fb was really dirty from the factory...the flamed top isn't the greatest quality, but it's acceptable - nicer to look at than a standard sunburst finish...I'm sure there are minor flaws with the finish, etc, although I haven't really looked 'cuz I bought the guitar for it's playability - I wanted a nice LP copy, and this is a very attractive guitar for someone who doesn't want to spend a fortune or buy an Ibanez or Charvel or similar...again, the electronics are crap, but since I don't use 'em I don't care... the action is very low now with no fret buzzing and intonated properly... I did have to raise the stop tailpiece a little to shorten the scale when I put on the .008's because the saddles on the bridge wouldn't adjust far enough for proper intonation... after that it's intonated great and really low action

Reliability/Durability : 8
it will withstand live playing...it's well constructed...neck is straigyht and set neck joint is good...frets are really nice...very rounded at the ends and finished nicely...at some point I will replace the tuners with some locking ones and get a better quality bridge and a stop bar w. some fine tuners so I can lock the tuners and use the fine tuners if it goes out of tune...it stays in tune well now...the bridge is not the best quality, but is satisfactory...the strap buttons are solid, but I replaced 'em with straplock buttons...I will use it live w/o a backup, but only because I don't have to depend on those crappy electronics

Customer Support : No Opinion
don't know...i imagine it's awful because they're spread out in 3 different countries and not all Tokai manufacturers in those countries manufacture the same guitar models...warranty? does it have a warranty? :)

Overall Rating : 8
Playing 25 years...own a VG-88, a GR-33, Yamaha MG-10/2 mixer, pc w. recording software...if stolen, I'd buy it again if I wanted another LP copy, but next time will probably be a genuine Gibson LP...I love the extras you get for the cheap price - the abalone binding around the entire instrument, the abalone inlays on the fb, the headstock matching the body color, & the flamed top - although none of these are up to the quality that they would be on a Gibson or other high-end guitar, these are never really seen on a guitar for this price...i also love the finished frets - really nice work there, and the playability once it's set up...i hate the electronics - they're crap...my favorite feature is the price for the playability...i did compare it to other LP copies, and it's the best of them I think...wish it had an ebony fb...it's a nice guitar to play if you don't absolutely have to have the best - i've spent more on worse guitar than this in the past - guitars w. bolt-on necks and Floyd Rose trems - this is a nice LP clone that plays well for small $$$$ and parts can always be replaced to make it more solid

Imported this from canada from a guy called mike on ebay. ( mikes guitars ). The name is a bit of a givaway as when is was made however the dlx definatly stands for delux as far as I am concerened. I live in Leeds in the UK which has 4 huge music store ( 200+ guitars to try out ) and also a few others too. I must have spent at least 100 to 150 hours testing various guitars and countless hours online researching which to buy. I aint a rich man but I wanted to buy "the" guitar. One guitar to rule them all so to speak. Please read below to find out what I thought of it. Also remember this is a PRS copy not a gibson copy!

Sound : 10
In short the electrics produce any sound you want with the right effects. Gibsons seem to sound like gibsons no matter what you do. As standard this guitar has a rich warm sound thru my marshall and also peavey amps. I have heard people say it sounds like a les paul but I think that it does not do it justice. I think it sounds like what gibson should be and what word of mouth says that gibson guitars are. The only guitar I have ever heard that sounds better allthough a little tinny is a prs santana (mmm). Other than that it has no matches. I regurly record my guitar work in cubase and cakewalk with no problems at all. It really does seem very strange when I get a perfect sound going in.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
As yet I have found no flaws. A slight fret buzz but I have tested aoround 5 PRS guitars with around the same. As with the finish . As soon as I saw this online I said the classis wayes world quote " O yes, It will be mine ". Looks fantastic if you like black guitars. Imagine a les paul custom without the crappy white trim.

Reliability/Durability : 10
As yet no problems. Owned a gibson which had a dodgy pickup switch and jack. To be fair I have not hammered this guitar as I just love it too much. It is the type of guitar that makes you respect it

Customer Support : No Opinion
Mikes guitars are exelent. As for support they are plenty of reps in the uk these days. Perhaps harder to sort than other makes but I very very much doubt I will need to speak to them.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing guitar for 7 years. As I say, I am bored of borrowing my mates guitars so have splashed out. Started on a friends squire then bought a yamaha sg2000. was burgled so bought a epi les paul custom (mistake). I would not buy this guitar again as I get bored easily . I would however get another tokai love rock. Fact is these are the best you are ever gunna own for less than a grand. period

I don't much about guitars I just play them. I got this because I spoke to a few studio guitarists who make their own occasionaly. They said this has better electrics than a gibson!. I have been playing it for a while now and I must admit it has not even stepped one foot wrong. Hardly any fret buzz and allmost no feedback even in a small practice room and loud volume.

Sound : 10
Please forgive the spelling!
I have picked up and played over 100 guitars over the years in varous music shops and mates houses. This guitar sounds the best of all of them bar a PRS with a 4k pricetag. Hard to descrive the sound, It sounds much better than gibsons as it beats them at there own game ie rich tony sustain. This guitar has loads and i mean loads of sustain!. Solid wood

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The most buitifull guitar I have ever seen in my humble opinion. Yeah fair play it is not entirly perfect but 99% aint that bad. For #2600 less than a PRS I am happy to live with this.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
About the same weight as a Les paul custom but no suprise as it's allmost the same guitar. This seems to be built to last a lifetime

Customer Support : 10
I doubt I will ever need to, if needed I am not too sure I can get replacment parts.

Overall Rating : 10
When I listen to this guitar played by a better player I want to listen to it and not the guitarist. It does not sound like a fender as it has a really rich warm and fullfilling tone. I now look at other guitars and feel lucky to own this. I have read alot about gibsons and tokia guitars and the various pros and cons. The only reason gibson get better reviews is the brand name and that they payed a small fortune for the privelage. How many people are humble enough to admit a guitar that costs 1/3 of the price is better?. Buy a tokai and you will not be unhappy I promise.

Made in 2004, Mahogany Boday and Set in Neck. This is a blatant copy of the ESP EC-1000. It has more of a Les Paul Body in terms of thickness. It has either an Ebony or Rosewood fingerboard. It is very dark.

The bridge is a Les Paul Tune-O-matic and the Tuners are Grover Non-Locking.

The neck has a slim taper and very comfortable. The finish is transparent and the whole guitar is covered in Abalone binding. Even the TOkai logo is a Pearl Inlay

Sound : 8
The guitar gets a really nice Les Paul Tone. A rich full sound. The pickups are great yet not as loud as my real Les Paul. (I have quite a few).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action and frets are what sold me on this guitar and other Tokais as well. The action was very comfortable and low enough not to cause buzzing. The frets are very smooth with no sharp edges.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I dont know how reliable this guitar will be but I am treating it like a baby because it looks so damn nice. My other Tokais have held up over the years (since the 80's) so I think it should be OK. It stays in tune great however.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to use it.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing over 20 years and I own almost every type of guitar you can imagine. This nicely adds to my collection of ones I will never let go of!
