Features : 8
Satin "matte violin" sunburst finish - lovely, satin finish set neck and 22 medium frets makes this a breeze to play. Superb low action with 10's when it arrived. Neck profile best described as 59 rounded (same as a recent LP Studio) Passive two humbucker pickups (Gotoh as stock) with coil taps. Mahogany neck & body, heavy maple cap (not a veneer!) - always look inside a pickup cavity to see this on a Tokai.

Sound : 9
Excellent sound from stock pickups (Gotoh) although I have a set of SD's to drop into this now. Thw two coil taps (one for each pickup on the vol and tone controls) make a vast difference to the versatility of this guitar. I basically wanted a Les Paul/Robben Ford type guitar but not the Squier Esprit and felt this was the best thing out there for the money after loads of research (tried and rejected Les Paul doublecuts and unable to find a good used Fender Esprit yet). The timbers definitely contribute to the sound. I love it and will be buying another next week in Cherry before they are gone forever.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Superb low action with 10's when it arrived - no adjustment necessary yet. Truss rod correctly adjusted. No apparent flaws, pickups well adjusted to compensate for neck pickup (lowered as it should be to correct the volume difference). Good controls, although the coil tap switches are always a weak point. No trwble bleed cap/resistor but fitted one in 5 minutes.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is the guitar I have been after for years - a durable finish Doublecut Les Paul that nails the Robben Ford tones. I tried a couple of the Gibsons but couldn't justify the cost and dislike the Nitro finish (altohugh I do love Gibson SG's and have three!!). Very durable indeed!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Will repair myself

Overall Rating : 10
Ive rated this a 10 as it's amazing value - in the UK these retail at over ??600 but I got this for half that new in a sale so for the price of a new Gibson LP Doublecut, I could have three of these plus have enough cash left to replace all the pickups!!.
