Well, since it's hard to define any unique model in here, I think this will suit mine the best, A S-body with US-2 neck. The body is made of one piece alder, neck is two piece quarter sawn maple, an US-2 shaped head. Neck has special width 1-7/8 (almost 48 mm) at the nut to my order. Standard C-shape contour. Compound 7,25-9,5" radius. 22 frets. Stainless Steel frets, large, huge ones. The fretboard is also maple. Neck came unfinished, and body came with a two tone sunburst finished and a hard shiny lacquer on top of that. Body has reverse routing of bridge pickup, thus, an X-route is performed there if one should decide to slant the pickup the traditional way. Reverse angle routing implies that is reminiscent of Fenders Hendrix and Dick Dale signature series. When a lefty turned a right a hand strat upside down and changed strings accordingly, the bridge pickup turned slanted the other way, leaving the 1st string pole a bit further in, thus having a subtle difference in the highest register. More on this later. Traditional S/S/S configuration.
Hardware is from Callaham, also pickups which are Lindy Fralins, specially wound for Callaham. Trem units are of stainless steel, and all other hardware. I have nickel allergy, thus, I was opting for SS (Stainless Steel) everywhere where I could put it.
Tuners are Sperzels locking ones. I like them because of the angle they produce and you can lock them strings.
I use RS tone and volume pots, for its close tolerance and woody sound.
Backplate is from SUHR. Their BPSSC system with an antenna built in to reduce noise and hum. Made sure it fitted with these Fralin pickups I bought, otherwise it would be a waste. That backplate can't reduce any hum from any PUP. They have to meet some specs.
All together, I was opting for something of a vintage SOUND, but with modern design, or altered to my needs, like neck width, stainless steel hardware and so on. I have enormously large hands and fingers, and these narrow 43 mm nut width necks just doesn't do it for me. I am raised on Classical guitar so that feels comfortable to me. Hard to give a rating on this one, since it contained features just what I ordered. Well, so it must be a full 10 then? No, though it was just exactly as I ordered, but not exactly what I REALLY wanted. More on this later.
Sound
:9
Thanks to (or due to?) the wide neck it has an obvious positive influence on the guitar's sustain. It's way more! I think it's something like a Eric Johnson signature strat but with more sustain. The guitar turned out very heavy (i e heavier than standard strats) although the body was made sure to be the most lightweight alder they could find. The slight amount of more wood added to neck cause its width sums it up, and gains weight all along.
I think it would be fair to compare the sound to the Fender Eric Johnson signature series but without the noise and hum, since the BPSSC by Suhr, kills any hum, and I have copper shielded the **** out of it too, so it wont pick up any extraneous noise.
The Fralins are as vintage sounding as one can go with a slightly higher output. Middle positions have a terrific quack to their timbre, that is not drowned out, i e lowering the overall volume compare to using just one of the pickups alone. It's VERY easy to churn out any SRV/EJ/Hendrix sounds of this guitar. I use it with both a Bad Cat amp, and some home studio modelling software, Guitar Rig etc. Especially the pluck and cluck is present in the initial attack of each note, and low notes doesn't drown out in a busy mix. Lots of twang to the clean sounds, and when distorted one can really go places, since overkill distortion does not induce hum and noise, thanks again to the Suhr BPSSC.
This may turn out a review of the Fralins pickups instead. If we go into nitpicking, I have some bones to pick with all these so called staggered pickups, just like the vintage ones. The output of the 3rd string is just a bit too hot, and this can't be remedied. I've always wondered why any pickup can't me made to follow the necks radius? There are adjustable pole pieces PU's available also from Fralins but those pickups doesn't sound the same at all. Should it be that hard? I know that the staggered pickup where for wound 3rd strings way back, but times have changed. Now I have to raise the 3rd string action so its output are more even with the rest. I think this is a problem with all vintage single coils that have staggered pole pieces. Not a fault of Fralins really. If one goes to completely flat (un-staggered) pole pieces, there will be output differences just as well. This is nitpicking though, and one just have to baby the g-string when playing solos. However, to Fralins advantage, I have yet to detect any magnetic string pull no matter how closely I set the pickups. I choose to play 011 sets so that may play a part of it. Overall output is above average. But not too hot.
No dead spots anywhere on the neck. Compared to most of the standard stock strats, that are not custom shop or signature.
When doing string bends high up - which is very easy on this wide neck - the note does not die. It has a sustain reminiscent of the best Les Pauls out there. And, contrary to popular belief, the SS frets does not impose any kind of harsh shrill high end attack, that they have been critized for. They just sounds great.
The Callaham trem unit, bends without getting stuck, and I think this construction contributes VERY MUCH to the significantly longer sustain overall. I can do both upwards and downwards dive, without getting out of tune, regardless of what Callaham says on their site! ;-) It took ages before I found the perfect balance though. It's a finicky job to balance the springs at the back and the screws at the front.
As you might have guessed, my style of music is in the SRV (Stevie Ray Vaughan) EJ (Eric Johnson) and Hendrix type.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:9
This is a no-no on this one, since it's sort of an IKEA guitar (!?). You buy the parts and have to set action, and all others things yourself. However, fit can be reviewed. The neck and body joints were the most perfect I've seen, especially for a guitar that you have to assemble yourself. Normally, it's easy to whack it ever so slightly out of position when bolting the neck down. Not even a hair could be made to fit in between the neck and body. VERY NICE JOB.
FINISH: The body sunburst - TWO TONE - Color was excellent and one of the best I've seen here, too. On a one piece body it's a sight for sore eyes. However, the overall final coating, when held into a light, some buffer strokes could be detected. Also a lot of residue inside the cavities, but I've heard this is normal and exists everywhere. I had to a lot of scratching and cleaning out the cavities in order to do a proper copper tape shielding.
THE NECK came unfinished, so I tung oiled the **** out of it. It has a nice yellow tint to it, and the process was unwieldy long, a month or so. So now, well, I don't know how to put it nicely, but a babys *ss feels rugged compared to this one! :-)
FRETS: Well, those came rugged, and needed a PLEK. A machine that polishes and levels the frets to the nTH degree. Costs a lot but it was worth it. Now, one can have so low action so it aint true. And one can bend the first string without fretting out due to any radius.
Reliability/Durability

Yes, it turns out chunky and due to its weight I think it will even stand a few bar fights. HARDWARE will probably survive a nuclear attack. The finish, well, I have to turn back to you in couple of years, but it's definitely not nitro-fragile. That it will strip just by looking at it. One of the better ones, and I think it will survive me.
I would use it on a gig without backup. It's actually made for that. Bringing to gigs without fear. The only other electric I own at the moment is a Klein, and I am too vigilant about that one.

Sorry folks, I have to bring you the following sad news. I can ONLY give a ten. There's simply no more points to give. I feel embarrassed to give just a ten. This is what made me buy from them, and not from their - neighboring? - huge company that starts with W. Yeah, that Tommy guy is something every other company should consider. Think Bill Gates sitting at a regular computer helpdesk in India answering computer users LAME questions from all over the world. Or something... :-)
I know that it's not only about the Tommy Rosamond guy, but his encyclopedic knowledge about wood, dimensions and hardware and design problems - well, guitars in general - are impeccable, and he's always friendly and humorous. Incredibly patient. Think of it, it may be fun in the beginning, but after a while, the same lame questions pops up, and one must get fed up with it in the end. Not so with this guy. Every mail - at least 20-30 - where answered within 12 hours (I live in Sweden, so it meant the same day) no matter how much busy he was. He even talked me out of things that I wished from the start. Not trying to be intrusive, or trying just to pitch anything. Mr *d *oman should really learn one or two things from this guy. Well, why not the lot!
This was the deal maker for me. When we went through all tidbits, and nitpicking, he made me feel comfortable, with my order. We had turned all the stones, and caveats. He MADE me think of other things, consider alternative options, and consequences if I'd choose this or that and so on. Thus, as good as it gets.
I'll second Nigel Tufnel from Spinal Tap, when setting the max point to customer support:
This one goes to eleven. At least.

Been playing for 35+ years, thus I am 40 plus. Other gear I own is a Klein electric and a Bad Cat amp with a few botique pedals. With me, it's either Boutiqe gear, or IKEA/Behringer! :-) Nothing in between.
There's an interesting question related to this "overall rating" when entering a review, it says "Is there something you wish you had asked before buying this guitar?". The answer is simply: NO!
I compare this guitar to something of a cross between Eric Johnson signature strat and the Dick Dale ditto.
I had some problems, since the body came with one thing missing. It had no holes drilled from the electronic cavity to the output jack cavity as well as the hole to the back cavitiy for grounding wire. They asked me to send the body back - across the pool, and mainland USA - without them hesitating to pay for all costs. I thought this was unnecessary and I found someone with a special drill that could drill at that angle.
The main thing with ALL THESE MAIL ORDER or INTERNET shops, is really a "pig-in-a-poke" thing. No matter how much detailed your specs are, there's always something you missed, or forget to specify. You're not really seeing the product or knowing that you will get what you want. I had a few wishes, for a one piece neck, but USCG talked me out of it, and I understood it. Also I had some other wonderings and wishes for a uniqe design or custom made to my specs but it the following:
There is a reason why the Fender Stratocaster is one of the most succesful industrial designs ever. You can't dabble too much with the dimensions or formula. Really, if I want a neck this big, the body needs to go with it accordingly, being slightly bigger too. It looks a tad chunk, and "frankenstrat" now. I don't think you can derive that much from the normal formula. It has been tested and proved and I think you can't change the dimensions here and there too much without some consequences that you are not able to detect until you've assembled the finished product and play it. Also, you have to posess a "handy-man" knowledge and be very well rounded in the woodworking business, no matter that everything is sawn out to you in advance. You have to sand file, drill holes, and take general care that you don't pop or nick things while doing so. So this industry, with guitars assembled from parts is not for the beginner. You may want your custom colors, and that is really where it may be to the most advantage. If you want too much in a guitar, or custom designs or dimensions, it will just turn out a weird mongrel in the end. "Frankenstrats" as they call it.
There was a lot that I thought "If they only could do like this..." but then considering it put together with all other wishes, it turned out a not so grand product. So I had to revise a few options. There's a reason why the regular strats, and teles are so succesful. They just BLEND and "marries" together, hardware, wood, finish, dimensions, contours, sound, whatever. USACG states this on their site too, regarding SS frets. Not to mess too much with a tried and tested formula. Now, I got exactly what I ordered, and the raw wood material was top notch, if not AAA grade or whatever they label the quality of the wood. However, if I got what I really wanted in the first place, is another matter. I couldn't have it all, my way, anyway.
Conclusion: Think really twice or thrice, when ordering something like this - from any guitar parts company. Make sure you have no caveats left. If you can't really get what you want, is it worth that compromise? Can you not compromise by going into GC and by a regular strat from the shelf and take it from there anyway?
My verdict is that USACG has the best, and top notch quality wood of ANY of them "guitar parts" out there, and they're discriminating when choosing it out for you. I hope they never turn into big time business, because that's when they're starting to lose their quality and stellar customer support.

Alder body, flame maple neck, dark indian rosewood board, real clay dot markers. Hardware from Callaham, 3 Kinman single coils 62n 69m Hx85b. A nice feature that USA Custom do is the compound radius fretboard, 7.5" at the nut opening out to 9.5".

I can't fault it at all. My rig: strat - Analog man ts9 - Keeley comp - Keeley fuzz head - Analog man bi chorus - Laney LH50R into 4x10 jensens. I play blues/rock, played clean or with overdrive its full rich and clear and allways has a great strat tone well balanced over the fretboard. Sounds like a great strat. I should think they take a lot of care over wood selection.

Went together with no problems, all holes and routing in the right place and well finished The neck/body joint is very precise. Having the neck pocket drilled at the factory is an option and i would recommend you have this done as getting it right is critical, i did it ok myself, but there is no point struggling when you dont have to.
All finishing is done by USA custom: Body is candy apple red, and its perfect. Neck is satin, perfect again, lovely piece of lightly flamed maple.
A local luthier did the final set up for me and the frets did'nt need any attention.

The whole thing looks and feels high quality.

Candy apple red two piece Alder vintage style strat body, flame maple satin neck with super soft V profile and dark Indian rosewood board with compound radius. All finishing is done by USA Custom and its as good as anything i have seen. 22 nickel silver alloy frets 6105. 3 single coils, 5 way selector, 6 point pivot bridge. All the hardware is from Callaham and the pick-ups are Kinmans. It has all the features you would expect from a guitar body and neck and they are top quality.

This is a fantastic strat. I love strats, i think they are the most versatile guitars you can get your hands on. I play rythem and blues and blues and rock and this guitar does them all great, but it would play anything great. The Kinman pups and Callaham hardware help a lot, but the woods that USA custom are using must be top notch. Bass is deep and tight, treble is smooth and singing with no "thin-ness". Also the transition from bass through to treble is natural accross each string.. I mean it sounds like the same strat where ever you play on the fret board. Its remarkably good when played unplugged as well.

Finish is perfect. Action was fine after i had built the guitar but took it to a local luthier and he improved it further. The frets are fitted very well but some stoneing may be required after assembly. Luthier said thats likely with a home built guitar, but mine has'nt needed any attention. The feel of the neck and fretboard is the best ive played.

2-piece, alder strat-style body and maple with rosewood fret board neck. 6000 fretwire, clay dots, darker rosewood, '63' profile neck. I like a little bit of flame in a neck but not too much... just a little to add some texture. I asked Tommy about this, as I didn't want the full on, flamed maple. He picked out a perfect plank with just the right amount of flame... and didn't even add an upcharge! The body is a nice medium light weight and the grain was suitable for a transparent finish, though I finished the body and neck myself: black for the body and tinted ("aged") clear for the neck.

I bought a body and neck from USA Custom after researching all the other aftermarket manufacturers. I decided on USA Customs based on others reviews and upon the features, options and prices that they offer. I plan on starting another project within the next year and will be buying from USA Custom. Tommy went through his Swamp Ash stock to find me a one-piece rift-sawn blank for a lefty strat body weighing just over 3.5 lbs. Warmoth will not do this - I asked. You just have to take whatever they give you. Not at USA. Tommy will take care of you. The neck I ordered was unfigured maple with an Indian Rosewood board. I paid an extra few bucks for darker rosewood, and a few more for real clay dots. My specs won't interest you, but you can have whatever you want - true customshop service.

I don't think it makes sense to talk about tone here. Sure, a lot depends on the woods and the neck pocket fit, but finish, pots and switches, pickups, frets and fret material are important. Not to mention the amp played through and the hands and heart of the player. But I will say USACG provides the best woods and workmanship I have ever seen, and the tone will be enhanced because of this.

Here's were USA shines. The neck pocket fit, contours, quality of fretwork, and wood quality are the best there is. The state-of-the-art machinery this company uses is set up perfectly to provide the best in the business. The idea of making a guitar with hand tools is appealing, but todays technology will provide way better overall quality.

I have a '55 and '66 Strats for comparison. I love my '55, but to be honest, I get better performance from what I can put together at home. Tone-wise, it's tought to beat either the '55 or the '66, but both my parts-o-casters have turned out sounding and playing wonderfully. The USACG is the best yet, and looks great with that translucent blonde finish. Hey, an important part of the performance is visual, and the more attention I can divert from my bald-assed head the better.

Ooops I did it again? actually Tommy and Ty did it.
My second USACG axe.
22 frets-6100
S hollow body with one F hole, without the tummy cut and contours (thinline style with S shape)
Mahogany body with a beautiful flame maple top.
The neck is mahogany with ebony fingerboard, US4 peghead . 790? C shape with standard taper.
2 tones 1 volume, with split coil option.
2 Seth lover humbuckers with 4 conductors.
TOM and stop- all gold hardware.
Planet waves tuners.
Finish for the body- a dark transparent brown top, with transparent brown back, natural wood binding, the neck is transparent brown satin, with brown gloss peghead and a beautiful USACG clear epoxy logo.
Sound
:10
I play blues, rock, and fusion. Use a fender devile as my ?play at home? amp, and many more for recordings.
The Seth lovers are great, mid output, singing warm and rich with harmonics.
Like I said before, this is my second guitar from USAGC, the first one was a Strat, so naturally I was looking for a ?Gibson like? sound for this one.
All of my friends which are active musicians, told me to buy a Gibson Les , or ES, because there is a rumor that only a Gibson sound like a Gibson, and companies like USACG make great Strat style guitars, and only strat.
BUUULLLLSSSSHHIIIIT!!!!!!
This baby is a rock warrior, a rich and full sound like a Les, the same percussive character as a LES in the bridge position, and a warm jazzy sound in the neck.
The bass is clearer and not muddy because of the fender scale length.
It?s like a combination of a LES and an ES335, sustain FOR EVER.
It is VERY difficult to describe the sound words, but believe me, when I plug this axe into an amp and play a chord, it sounds like heaven. I hope that I?ll have the time to put my last recording on the Internet (with the new, and my ?old? USACG guitars).
String action is the best that I saw, this axe was built and setup by HERZEL RAZ, a famous guitar builder here in Israel.
The finish, the wood, the sound, EVERYTHING is a high-end, top quality.
TY at ROXY makes the most beautiful finish, and the satin in the neck feels like a dream.

Tightest neck joint I've ever seen on a strat. Frets were well set into the board, but I did have to level them a tiny bit. While the features depend on what you ask for, at USACG I got exactly what I asked for.
2003 made S-Body: 2-piece Alder finished in "Alpine White" by Roxy, H-S-H rout, Hipshot hardtail bridge, mint green pickguard with 2 German-made custom humbuckers (Haussel), 3-way selector switch, 2 push-pull tone controls and 1 volume control.
2003 made US-2 Neck: 1 piece Maple neck with dark Madagascar Rosewood board, .800 C-Shape (with .070 taper), 12" straight radius, 22 6150 Dunlop frets, Mother-of-Pearl inlays, bone nut, Gotoh-Kluson vintage tuners, UsaCG decal, truss rod adjustable at the peghead, round fingerboard ends. Finished in Satin by Roxy.
Overall, I'd say it has very traditional specs.

I play mostly Blues/Rock/Metal and the likes: Iron Maiden, Ac/Dc, Metallica, Savatage, Dream Theater, Malmsteen to name only a few but also a lot of my own stuff which is a little more on the Blues-Rock side.
I run this guitar through a Marshall DSL-50 and for my home-recording projects through a PodXT.
It sounds great!
Since it has great quality components it resonates very well - the guitar is alive!
I'm using humbuckers (they can be switched from series to parallel via the push-pull tone controls) so the guitar sounds very fat and full and has very good sustain.
The pick-attack is sharp and bright (something I was looking for) because of the wood-combo and mainly due to the Hipshot hardtail bridge which I'm in love with.
My suggestion: If you're going hardtail go either with the Hipshot or the Callaham stuff. Both are great!
I chose Hipshot because it has a narrower string-spacing than the Callaham bridge.
Anyway this Strat covers a lot of ground and I get excellent tones out of it. Tommy (of USACG) sent me some great pieces and he's not gonna give you anything less.
I give this guitar a 10 because it is the best sounding Strat I have owned (and those were quite a few - some Fenders and Warmoths mainly)
Action, Fit, & Finish
:10
My local luthier did the setup. He set it up with a low action (I get very little string buzz though on the low E).
The neck fit is the best I have ever seen. Very tight. Much better than my Warmoth Strats.
The finish was done by Roxy and it is stunning. No flaws whatsoever. Very thin. I think this is as good as it gets.
As far as playability, I love the way the neck feels. Very fast - the finish isn't sticky, the profile (thin C-shape) is awesome and it lets me play without thinking about it. I get no string chokes due to the 12" radius even with very big bends...
What can I say? I love this guitar!
I can't emphasize enough how well Tommy and Ty (over at Roxy's) do their jobs.
It doesn't get any better!

I've been playing for 13 years now.
I ended up with USACG after a couple of bad experiences with Warmoth.
(Warmoth's finish job was VERY POOR with lots of flaws in it and the wood they sent me didn't look at all as I had specified - very sad!!)
If I ever need another Strat or Telecaster, USACG is the place to go.
If you want the best quality regarding tonewoods, finish, communication and service - USACG is the only choice.
If you're still considering something else it'll be your loss!

The stratiest strat I ever played!!!
I was aiming for something like a Tyler copy with a preamp and a lot of pickup cominations but when I finally got it the way I wanted It didnt do me any good so I converted back to a regular 5-way switch and just a volume, rock'n roll!
I play hard rock/heavy metall and some blues rock and this guitar rocks harder then I expected. The singlecoil sounds are just dead on!
Action, Fit, & Finish

I put it together myself, oiled the neck and did a bad paint job, bummer... I'll let someone else do it right later on. The fit of the pieces was the best I ever seen and set up was really easy, giving me incredible action with a BIG sound, it just wants to be played and sustains really really good.

It was my first try on the Wilkinson and I am amased about the tuning stability.
Ive giged it (without a backup) and recorded with it and I just dont wanna stop playing it. Rock solid.

One word: WOW!!!
Tommy is really amazing, patient and he really wants to help you.
I ordered a strat body with a little more cut away on the lower horn and that didnt come out as I wanted it, but a couple of hours with sand paper and it was there.

Ive been playing for 20 years and ordered this git kinda to celebrate and its just happened to become the best guitar I ever played (and I tried some good ones). Mabye someday I'll rip out that JBjr and go with a Trembucker JB instead for a fuller sound... but will I get it?
