think les paul but with a bolt on neck, and the wood is maple not mahogany (i think). it has faux carved top

Sound : 8
this is my metal guitar, i reminds my of my friend jackson pro, tone that is. it cuts but still has good chug. its not as rich as a real lp though, because of less wood under the bridge and no mahogany.

one resone its my metal guitar is i put a duncan distortion pup in the bridge. the stock pup was to feedback proned. i keep the neck pup in, it sounds like mini hum kinda week, but useful

my rig is an soldano amp, into two kern (whoever the hell that is) 410 cab from the late 60s early 70 with alnico speakers, all about to blow, but thats just distion ha! they are closed backs and about 16" deep. with no fx. so its a vintage/modern/vintage set up.

the clean is nice but never realy clean its alwaysed pushed, its warm due to the faux craved top

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
this is where the faux top is explaned. the top a thin about 1/8 thick peace of cruved wood supported by wood braces about ever 1/4in. this this a way to cut cost. it has a nice laquer finish, and the hard wear was quality for its time. but cheap un shielded elctronics over all very sound

Reliability/Durability : 9
30 years old you desided.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Made around '71 to '74 according to the serial number. Les Paul custom copy, black with gold hardware. 2 volumes, 2 tones with 3 way switch. 2 humbuckers. Bolted neck.
Bought with original case from pawning shop.

Sound : 9
Sounds great. Medium output great for crunch or clean. Thru a high gain stax, it maybe feeding back.

I played it with a Marshall 2203 100W head with 4X12 cab, a 112 Musicman, Fender '72 Band Master with 2X12 cab and a Fender Blues Junior for Rock'n'roll, Punk, Rock, Stoner Rock purpose with an Original Crybaby. For sure it rock!

A bit thin in the low-mid and mid range compared to a real Gibson LP.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I bought it in 2002 so for the factory set up, forget it!

Adjustments had to be made when i bought it but be now, no problems coming around!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I always play it live!!! Nothing will stop me when playing it accept... a broke string which have not happened yet, or the end of the song!!!The finish had stuck for around 30 years!

But i think that one of the volume knob has started to oxyde cause i'm sweating alot when onstage. Bad news!

Sorry! No more company called Univox at work!

For 3 years i search for a Vintage Gibson LP model but nobody around was selling. When i first saw it in the window of the shop, i felt to my knee saying please, please, please...don't go!! 3 hours later it was mine!

Just had a nightmare about somebody cutting the neck and took the hardware away to "make a better guitar"... i killed him!

I started playing guitar 10 years ago. By now i use a Epiphone SG(G400), RG570Quilted Ibanez, Rocktron VoodooValve preamp with Mesa 50/50 power and a Marshall 2203 head with 1960 cab.

This is a 1970 Les Paul Custom copy, It has 2 humbuckers, 3-way switch, etc... (Just like all the Gibsons) The finish is great on this 30-year old axe. It has a Flamed Maple Top with a Honey creme type finish. Great Condition except for 2 cracks in the top coat of the finish. All hardware is gold and a little tarnished but for a copy Univox made one of the best Les Pauls I have seen.

Sound : 9
Sound on this is real thick and beefy, "FAT"! I have the stock pickups and are not quite sure who made them. The pickups are the fattest sounding pickup I've heard. I'm am in the process of replacing all the electronics on it. (The pot's and switch are noisy but not to bad for as old as it is). I am going to replace the tuners and the pickups which Gibsons

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Great action and the neck is pretty fast. I'm not quite sure if the neck is rosewood or what type of wood it is.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It's lasted 30 years and everything is stock (except strings)

Customer Support : No Opinion
Univox is has been gone for a long time. Which if they were still around would give Epiphone and all the other Les Paul copies a real run for there money! They also made some great effects in the early 70's. Like one of the best Echoplex around.

Overall Rating : 10
Great Les Paul copy. I'm a drummer and not a guitarist. But I can play a little and have been playing drums since the same year this guitar came out. And for the guitar players I know they all say it's a great copy.
