Univox UC-3 from the 70s. All original as far as i know, except repainted to original.
3 white,single coil pickups. 2 tone knobs,1 volume.
shaped similar to a Fender Jaguar. headstock isn't as gawdy as some fender knock offs.
Neck that deserves to have the 21 frets redone, but no buzzing yet anyway. they used to be medium. and it's straight as an arrow.
Bridge is great,it's got a nice amount of space between the saddles and the string throughs on the tailpiece (tailpiece and bridge are actually one piece).
if anyone owns this or a UC-2,or parts for either that they don't care to keep around, let me know.

Sound : 9
I really like this guitar, feel and sound. I play alot of rock with a little bit of blues tone to it. It could be a bit more agressive when it's low,but it suits me fine.
I play through a fender bandmaster from days of yore with a 2x15 cab (ugh). and also an ibaneze practice amp. I prefer my boss DS-2/feedback but i'm stuck with a DS-1 at the moment. as well as a dunlop wah.
it's not noisy one little bit in any setting.
It's got alot of range if you're willing to explore, but i'm novice enough that just the 3 way suits me for the most part.but, for informational purposes, you can get alot of scream out of it in the treb that sounds kind of country if you don't use distortion.it's also got a decent 50's rythm sound int here too. but it really hangs onto it's "grunge" sound too.
I really like this guitar all the way around. i don't think i'll ever get rid of it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
i don't know what the setup was like from the factory. But it's got alot of range for action. i keep it a little higher than most players i know.
the pickups are adjusted just fine for me. could be adjusted a little lower but that's ok.
everything's clean on this guitar. the frets are worn but...hey,it's 30 years old.tuners are tight. nut has worn evenly with the frets. the jack nut almost refuses to stay completely tight but never loosens enough to be any problem.

Reliability/Durability : 10
i would imagine that it would. although if i were going to use it for live playing,i'd give it a good once over down and back up again.
hardware seems solid. in fact, the hting is al together very solid.
it's been refinished once, but it was done very nicely. it doesn't fall of my shoulder like an LP does. and i can,and do depend on it very much. i love this guitar.

i've been playing for about 6 months on guitar,2 years on bass. I've got another Japanese LP that sounds good but i much prefer the univox. also a Peavey tele copy with a fender strat neck (it fit perfectly, peavey was nice enough to route the neck pocket with a curve).also a hondo 2 bass, but i don't know what model.
wish iw ould have asked if he could get ahold of another one,or maybe a UC-2.
i would love to get another one just because,i shudder to think what i'd do if it were lost or stolen.
I love the shape of it,it fits me perfectly, and i like to be lazy and let me arm rest on the top and it feels so natural. my favorite feature is the bridge,i like to put a little bend on individual strings and this bridge is great for that.
i wish it had a twin.
