I just bought a black sparkle Gen X owned by Holes guitarist, I think I can get his signature off with paint remover? Anyway the guitar is cool, I like Vaccaros, I still can't belive that people are not catching on to these guitars, they are truly one of the best guitars out there! PRS cmon, I wanna puke, les Pauls old but good, fenders always a good choice for players, and the list goes on sure but for the money these Vaccaro's are truly great, I think they will rise in value in the future. Veleno's are way over priced for the way the play and feel, I mean Vaccaro's could smash a Veleno in 2 and still play great! Can a Veleno do the same? No cause its a little delicate piece of art work "puke' okay enuff ripping on Veleno! The Vaccaro plays well, stays in tune well and looks weird but the paint is great, the hardware is good, the frets are jumbo and cool, the neck is solid, the body heavy like a pro axe, man the workmanship is crafty and damn right on the money! I am glad to be a Vaccaro owner and anyone who doesn't like Vaccaro is a Neverland visitor!

The sound is good and clear.
I use a 57 Magnatone 280a custom (mint)
fender pro 185, Fender Deville, Dean Markley custom 112a, Hiwatt blah!
never noisy, always sounds clean, the guitar is a pro model.
I like this guitar over 10,000.00 Les Pauls
And you can throw you PRS in the Garbage after you bash it on the sidewalk!

How long have you been playing? What other gear do you own?
Is there something you wish you had asked before buying this guitar?
If it were stolen or lost, would you buy it again or get something else?
What do you love about it? What do you hate? What is your favorite feature?
Did you compare it to other guitars? Which ones? Why did you choose this one?
Anything you wish it had?
Anything else you'd like to share?
No I am tired of using these stupid questions to talk about this Vaccaro it is a damn good guitar and F*** guitar player mag for not knowing, the BB value on these guits should sky rocket in the years to come! BLAH BLAH BLAH

Get ahold of yourselves people cuz this review may be in sharp contrast to the first one!
Rio grande muy grande pick ups that mostly sound glassy and beautiful! Their manufacturer in TEXASS is pretty cool too!
Supposedly swamp ash body/flame maple neck(people laugh I know!). The body style is like an 80's meets jazzmaster knock-off. I love jazzmaster bodies(MBV, Sonic Youth) soo sexy and feel great(make strats look like dinkys!) but they warped it into kinda freaky looking... why their bodies have to look soo lame I dunno... maybe they drop too much acid at their supposed factory in jersey(more on this later!).
I hate bigsby trems so I took the tunamatic bridge w/ stop tailpiece(their logo on) that you CAN'T fit strings bigger than .042 into. Forget .011 gauge sets you are screwd!
This guitar is next to impossible to tune!!! Somewhere in the path strings are getting snagged to extreme... you bend strings and bam! You just lost about two major steps!
I bought the gen-x cuz of the shape and thinking the neck would be as thick as this other vaccaro groove jet... not so. I have long fingers that can't stand thin necks(ibanez!) and frets too close together(high frets). This neck aint too bad but I expected groove jet size... that guitars body is too small. jumbo frets suck! Ebonol fingerboard? Case is breaking apart.. easily!

some reason the rio grande humbucker on bridge lacks brilliance or those upper frequencies... I talked to Rio Grande and they aren't to blame I believe. When I first got it a tech told me the humbucker was wired in parallel rather than series(I think) in phase? But it hummmed! Like a single coil! A tech rewired it to series and now it lacks brilliance as stated. He changed pu's hight and now it sounds way different??? Single's sounded better before at least.

Set up to SH*T! Some reason the g string buzzes on frets and the tech couldn't fix... he said the trus rod was hard to adjust w/ some freaky tool needed. My action now is waaay off the board.. I have had high action ever since I started playing guitars cuz I don't like the sound coming thru the amp when strings buzz. Also on the high frets the e- string frets out when bending; the tech said one of the frets is higher or lower than the other. the input jack is near failed... I know it needs a new one but you gotta put the plug in just right or no sound!

withstand live playing.. no! hardware last... crappy: save for neck, pickups. Depend on it... sometimes it sounds cool.. but wish it had a jazzmaster body and better action, tuning ability, more precence.

The comapny.... does it even really exist? I'm not kidding; I've tried to call jersey from the other side of the US and never get anything but voice mail... anytime! Doesn't say whom to talk to for product support or anything... I once called and left 3 messages in different extensions.. especially president.
I got a call on my answering machine from "george?" saying take it to a guitar tech and file saddles(not the problem!). Any further questions call that same dumb old number w/ no extension...
Their prices on their web sites have gone down dramatically over the last year or so...
I'd like to get a neck solely(like one from a groove jet) and set itto a warmoth jazzmaster body for my own taste but no email to company and no answer... next is FAX... seems to work.

I've been playing too long(over half my life).. I am an ampaholic! HIWATT(hylite era... maybe audio bros... not fernandes!), MESA, ACOUSTIC(?), fender, marshall, seymour duncan, ampeg, Roland, SUNN owned, rented, borrowed.. not stolen! I spend jack on my guitars... never find one that satisfies completely.
The aluminum neck and pickups do add punch, attack(?), and sustain(especially). but the rest of the body parts?

I've have a sparkle blue , american gen-x. It has tons of features,as it is a custom guitar, I went for the optional extras - v-tone generator , fine tune bridge, rio grande pick ups. It's solidly built and altough I havent played a gig with it yet,it's definately putting my jap tele to shame.(I'm in a band that has just signed a record deal and will be touring the states in 2001)
Sound

I use a jcm 900 with a big muff,tube screamer,digitech whammy,boss eq,line 6 modulation,line 6 delay. our style is quite loud,melodic
kinda similar to skunk anansie/garbage.what can I say it sounds great, but most of all it has stacks of sustain, every note is very clear.on the middle pickup (one of about 8 combinations)sounds similar to a strat, but on full humbucker sounds fat.It covers a large range of tones.the v-tone generator selects fat to extremely skinny sounds.it has good surf tones aswell
Action, Fit, & Finish

the guitar was handled a lot before it reached me in South Africa and the v-tone generator knob was loose.the action on the higher frets is higher than my tele, but maybe thats because the tele has a super low action.the glitter blue finish rules !

I know without any doubt that it wuold stand up to extensive giging.the guitar has a solidness about it. it's about the size of a strat, but weighs more.everything is very solid on this guitar

hopefully will never have to deal with any of that.

I know that old fashioned people will always will go with the vintage stuff - not that I don't like vintage stuff, but this guitar definately deserves some attention.as far as new, cutting edge stuff goes, this is definately a leader.A certain $1000 a day american engineer, who owns more than 10 vintage guitars was very impressed,at our recent recording.I would have to get another one if anything happened to this one.
