Since I'm a session guy and live player, I always need a good tele, be it for country stuff, or even covering a Stones song...and this is my second Valley Arts guitar. My first is a 1991 and this is a 2006...but Mike McGuire and Al Carness, original owners, and still employeed by Gibson...and the guitars are just as good. This guitar screams to be Chicken picked all over it..a great, if not the best Tele style guitar on the market. Out Fenders Fender stuff in my opinion. I've owned tons of Tele's and this is the downright the best one. Worth every penny.

I didn't need to do a whole lot to the guitar...it came set up fine. I took a bit of relief out of the neck, cause I like 'em straight, and put custom gauge strings on it...the neck is a tad bit bigger than most I've played..at least the new ones...it feels like an older tele neck. A day of playing it, and it fits just fine now...I am using the 9.5-44 guage string on it. They seem to feel really good without being too light or too heavy on bottom. Normally I'd use 10's but this guitar screamed for the 9.5's. No flaws at all from what I could see. Just another great Valley Arts guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar feels sturdy enough to take on all comers in a bar fight..and in some of the country bars I've played, it may have to! Came with Dunlop strap locks, this bad boy is gig ready. I can depend on it, but I always take 2 guitars to a gig. Both just happen to be Valley Arts.

Customer Support : 10
Mine wasn't under warranty...I got it from a dealer who had bought out a bankrupt store's stock...but Al Carness answers any emails I have sent, and they a re extremely easy to deal with. They even took care of an issue on my 1991 model, that they didn't have to, and did it at no charge. Now, being it's a tele, I can do almost anything I'd need to do to it...but the Seymour Duncan's are reliable, and I'm betting I'm not gonna have an ounce of problem with it..and if I did, I know Al would be there to help me with it...warranty or not. They are just those kind of guys who love the guitars they build.

I've been playing professionally 25 years now..I'm 38. I own alot of great gear...I worked as a Line6 product specialist, so I know amps and guitars pretty well. I love everything about the Valley Arts guitars I own. If they were stolen, or lost, I'd have an awful hard time replacing the 91, and still would do it, no matter what I had to pay...yes, both guitars would be replaced if lost. I don't know if they'd let me have them in prison, cause I'd kill the crackhead who did it. I only wish I'd had the Brent Mason thing done to it, as I like Brent's signature model Valley Arts, but hate the color. I think I like the pickups in both my Valley Arts guitars..they compliment the woods the guitars are built with. Actually, I don't recommend buy a Valley Arts...that way, I'll be one of the only kids on my block who plays them...just kidding. Not for every player, but if youlike great teles, the T series is un beatable...and if you happen to find an old one, and don't want it...let me know...I do want it!...Seriously, add one to your collection. Great Instruments.

I am playing jazz, jazz blues. With the neck pickup and the tone control rolled back a soulful jazz sound is the order of the day. Roll the tone control up and you're back in Chicago blues territory. The bridge pickup has lots of snap to it. I have a Roland Cube 60 and a Tech 21 Trademark 10, no tubes here...yet. I get the jazz sound I like, without the hassle of tubes, but I will be shopping around for a high quality tube amp with the jazz sound.

The factory setup was a little to high and stiff for my playing, expertly adjusted by the guitar tech at Dave Phillips Music in Phillipsburg NJ; plays smoothly now. The build quality of this guitar is very high level; tight neck(bolt-on)joint, great fret job, gold hardware, all properly aligned and tight.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
In my life for 1 month, not enough "data"

Customer Support : No Opinion
Dave Phillips Music provides free setup with purchase, other than that, haven't needed anything yet.

I've been at this 30+ years, feels good to come home and play. I have a Guild Nightbird-about 1990 and an Epiphone Joe Pass, no pedals. If this were lost/stolen I would definitely buy another. The price/value ratio was very much in this guitar's favor.
