A contempory take on the Strat.,made in Korea by Samick, solid basswood body,24 fret maple neck with a rosewood fretboard and medium jumbo fretts. Two Humbuckers and one single coil 5 way switch. Pick ups top mounted (no pick gaurd) 1 volume 2 tone and vintage style tremalo. All black hardware. My guitar is a very nice white , the body is simial to an Ibanez Sabre ( some of which are also made by Samick) nice route in the upper bout for better access to the upper register.Generic Samick sealed tuners. All the hardware is of good quality.

I play mostly blues right now but I also play classic rock, country rock and Country. This is a very versitable guitar with good usable sounds in each of the five positions. It is wired so all positions are humbucking and is vertually noiseless. Even the Bridge pick up is useful. I like it better than many Telecaster and Strat bridge pick ups.The neck Humbucker gets a warm mid rangy tone with more gain than the three middle positions.2nd and 4th are good out of phase Strat sounding while the middle is like a Tele using one coil from each of the Humbuckers. The neck Radius is flatter and a little wider than classic Fenders with larger fretts making it very fast and smooth playing.
My stage set up is a Digitech RP-7 tube pre amp and multi effects into two amps. I've gone through a lot of amps including many different tube amps but right now I use two solid state amps a 65 watt Fender and 75 watt Marshall both set to the clean cahnnel. I get all my distortion and color from the pre amp. For Jams I play what evers there or My 65 watt Fender which sounds like a Fender. This Samick Vantage is particularly good for high gain settins as the pick ups are noiseless.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
I bought it used but it was set up and intonated well. I don't get this catagory much What kind of idiot expects a guitar to be set up for their preference out of the box? The pots were scratchy when I got it but that is from lack of use and they began to clean up quickly by simple moving them .

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is fine for playing live and easily compares to much more expensive guitars. It is as well made and more versitle than most Mexican Fenders and compares well with any guitar I have owned. If I'm going to a Jam and hang out I only take one guitar I always take three to gigs just because I won't change a broken string during a set I just change guitars.

On and off for 30 years. If I found another like it I'd buy it. I like the weight (light) balance and feel. It has no faults. I particularly like having the humbucker tone in the bridge and being able to get classic Fender tones out of the same guitar. My main axe which I,ve used for the last ten years is an Ibanez Roadstar with a Lame maple top that original came with two humbuckers. I had a single coil added. I also have a Yamaha Pac 402S (like a Tele) that I had another pick up added to, a Kramer Classic (Tele) by ESP, a MIJ Squire Strat, a MIJ Fernandez Strat and a few others. I tend to stay away from guitars that you pay for the name. I look at the wood, parts ,feel and sound and although I try and get similiar guitars each is individual with its own personality.
